Scorpion: Love Boat

I guess the goal with this Valentine’s Day episode was to give us some sort of attack! The team goes undercover on a boat in order to reprogram some missiles, things don’t go well and Sylvester almost dies – after saving the day! Back home, Happy and Toby help the team while helping Ralph with his “love life” as well.

  • Walter is considering on taking Paige to a “meeting” on Valentine’s, on a Restaurant she really likes, but after an ex points out to him that he should only get involved with someone if he’s all in, he ends up giving her the weekend off, much to her disappointment.
  • After a full day exchanging looks and covert words, Happy makes the first move and holds hands with Toby, to which he responds by making a move to kiss her… she pulls away, obviously, but then he asks if she’s going to hit him to which she responds no, with a big smile… but when he goes for the big kiss, they’re interrupted, and he has to get Ralph and flee the scene… OMG!!!! Almost!!!
  • Sylvester really pulls himself together on this episode. He faces a huge fear of his in order to save his friends. Then back at home, he faces another… he finishes his Valentine’s Day card to Megan… yeah, that Megan… Walter’s sister. While Paige tells him that it will be no problem, because they both deserve to be happy and Walter will approve, Sy doesn’t dare tell him, only mentioning that there is someone.
  • Well… one (and a half) out of 3 ships getting somewhere is not bad… not bad at all… more so considering that Happy and Toby ALMOST KISSED!!!

Broadchurch: Episode 6

This week Alec Hardy underwent surgery for his heart condition, finally, and for about a minute I actually thought he was about to bite the dust… seriously people?! Why do you do this to my heart?! And how cool is that that Tess is taking care of Hardy, with him asking her for them to be a family again and everything… poor guy! And this was the wife who cheated on him during his previous case and cost them the conviction.

Tom Miller takes the stand and downright lies, accusing Mark of confessing to murder Danny. After a while though he admits that Mark only felt guilty… But Ellie (my hero) is having none of it, she’s really mad at her son for what he’s putting the Latimer’s through and orders him to go home with her (Because she’s his bloody mother!)… “Yes mom” is all he’s able to say. Finally!!! The whole thing of Tom being angry at his mom for what his father did was getting weird and old.

The case against Joe Miller seems about to crumble when Bishop asks for the dismissal of the case based on the abuse of power of the police, because Mark Latimer went to see Joe in jail when he was first arrested… ohoh… luckily Jocelyn is able to prove that there was no abuse of power and the case still holds.

Speaking of Jocelyn, she finally came clean with her young helper about her condition, she’s going blind. To top it off, she got a call telling her that her mother fall over and passed away… by the way, are we all convinced by now that she and Maggie are or used to be an item, right?

In the Sandbrook front we learn quite a lot, mainly that Claire is looking guiltier by the minute. Not only is she wearing Pippa’s necklace in one of her portfolio photos, but it’s revealed that she was actually the one who broke into Tess’s car and stole the evidence… why?! She and Lee clearly have or had some kind of plan, but when they look for a house together with a setting very similar to the one in Sandbrook, they state that they can’t do it… do what?!

I have SO many questions!!!

I had two favorite moments: Beth finally letting Ellie console her and Ellie yelling at her son… priceless! Oh, and Abby Thompson letting Olly know that she desperately needs to have sex, it has nothing to do with him… pity that she then found something in his house that can help Joe’s case…

**********   EDIT – ALEC HARDY AND THE PENDENT  **********

As you can see in the screencap (and read on the comments below), Alec Hardy is seen wearing Pippa’s pendent.

As this is part of some sort of fantasy/nightmare he has during his anestesia, I don’t believe that he ever actually had it with him… I believe it represents something that weights on him, like the fact that he found Pippa’s body in the water, so he feels like he’s drowning. It was however very subtly done, and if there had been no comments about it, I would have missed it, so thank you :).

Jane the Virgin: Chapter 13

Poor Jane and Rafael… this week they were so excited to get some 3D photos of the baby and find out the sex, then they were totally blindsided by the possibility of something being wrong with the baby…

Jane struggled to make the right decision: do an amnio to find out and risk losing the baby, or do nothing. In the end she decided to do it, because she couldn’t not know (then she changed her mind but it was too late). Rafael continues to surprise! He stood by her side, supported all of her decisions and made sure she felt good about them. Poor guy even slept on the floor by her bed while she was on bed rest… couldn’t he sleep in the bed with her, without anything happening?! She was on bed rest after all… At the end, still not knowing the results, Jane decides she has to let go a bit, and leave some room for surprises and Rafael convinces her to not find out the sex of the baby, for it to be a surprise… oh… I’m pretty sure it’s a boy though!

Michael doesn’t take long to find out all the inconsistencies in Rose’s story and comes to the conclusion that she is, in fact, Sin Rostro!! I’m glad that didn’t take long. But by then it’s too late, Rose is long gone (and blond… what’s up with that?!).

Petra turns down Milos and then karma strikes again… Lachlan kicks her out of the hotel. No problem though, Milos just bought 33% of the hotel and is willing to let her rule, for as long as he can rule by her side. I was a bit disappointed as to how they managed the Petra/Lachlan situation… not enough drama… I thought that maybe he would leave her stranded somewhere, Spain, the desert… whatever… but not in front of the hotel.

Rogelio (finally) gets a job offer, but it would mean that he would have to move to Mexico… I don’t think he’ll do it, I do hope it will finally propel him and Xo to express their feelings. Oh, and Alba has the hots for a gentleman in physical therapy… can’t wait to see what that will lead to…

While reviewing the security camera, Nadine realizes that neither Rose, Emilio nor the Bell Boy were responsible for Zazo’s murder – remember?! The first one?! – And this opens up a new can of worms… then who did it?! As to answer our loud question, Rafael is seen talking to Zazo, but is it Roman?! Or is it his twin Aaron Zazo?! And if it is Roman, then who died impaled by ice?! Ohhhh, so many questions… please tell me that it’s the twin and that Rafael is not a bad guy… I couldn’t stand it (and neither could Jane!)!!!!

Jon Stewart will leave The Daily Show

Yesterday I woke to wonderful news about Spider-Man, while today the first piece of news I read is not that great…. Jon Stewart announced last night that he’ll be leaving The Daily Show sometime this year, which was then confirmed by Comedy Central.

Jon Stewart

Doug Herzog and Michele Ganeless gave me an incredible opportunity 17 years ago to pilot this wonderful franchise and 17 years is the longest I have ever in my life held a job by 16 years and five months. Thank you. The upshot there being, I am a terrible employee. In my heart I know, it is time for someone else to have that opportunity … Not right away, we’re still working out details, I’m up in September, might be December or July, I don’t have a lot of specific plans, I’ve got a lot of ideas, a lot of things in my head. I’m going to have dinner on a school night with my family, who I have heard from multiple sources are lovely people. I’m not going to be here and try to sum up what this place has meant to be over the years, I couldn’t do that, we’ve got plenty of time and I’ve got myriad of people to thank… but this show doesn’t deserve an even slightly restless host and neither do you. I don’t think I’m going to miss being on TV every day, I’m going to miss coming here every day. I love the people here, they’re the best, they’re collaborative and they’re kind… I love them and respect them so much.

It’s been an absolute privilege. The honor of my professional life. I thank you for watching it, for hate watching it whatever reason you’re turning in for. You get in this business with the idea that maybe you have a point of view and something to express. And to receive feedback from that is the greatest feeling I can ask for and I thank you.

Jon Stewart has helmed The Daily Show since 1999, making it an outstanding and reference program, which produced several great comedic figures we see nowadays, such as Stephen Colbert, Steve Carell or John Oliver. I’ve been watching the show sporadically for years, but began following daily since last year and I can honestly say that it’s a huge lost, in my opinion.

Comedy Central also announced that The Daily Show will still exist, with someone else on that chair. I say it’s going to be tough to find someone who can fill the shoes that have been there for 17 years, though I’m certain that they can find someone amazing, specially if they look within the great team that the show already had.

This week on TV (4-6 Feb)

Here’s the rest of last week…

Arrow (Uprising):

Oliver Queen finally made it back to Starling City, our favorite team finally got rid of Brick in the Glades and a weird alliance was formed between Oliver and Malcolm Merlyn.

The only thing I can say about this episode it that it really let me down… man, this small “trilogy” deserved a better ending.

First thing, what’s up with the timeline on this episode?! How far is Oliver? Because he manages to get there (in suit) at about the same time that all the others get there… weird.

I love Sin, I think that she was a great carather to have around for Sara, because it grounded her, I liked that she was the one to tell Lance that the Canary is not Sara, but doesn’t she know that Roy is the guy in the red suit?

Speaking of Roy/Arsenal, at least Lance knows who he is… Lance knows, Thea knows… how exactly don’t they know that Oliver is the one in green?

WTF?! So, Diggle is second on communications and not on the field? What’s up with that?! He’s better than Laurel any day of the week.

Why get Wildcat back?! So they could kill him?! Or almost kill him… not sure what happened there…

I love Tatsu, that said, she could just have come with Oliver to Starling and helped him do what he needs to do… she has mad skills.

Do we talk about Malcolm’s wig…?!?!?!?

When the Arrow got to the Glades, Team Arrow was there, right? So how come they watch his speech from the Arrow cave? And that’s all the reaction we get? How about some tears people?

I get why Oliver made a deal with Merlyn, what I don’t get is why Felicity (who is such a smart woman) didn’t even gave him a chance to explain the reality of the situation. I’m not saying that she doesn’t have her reasons to not jump into his arms – although her justification did not justify it – I’m saying that one thing doesn’t have anything to do with the other. So, she dreamed things could be different between them, ok, nobody said they couldn’t, maybe she should have let the guy explain that he doesn’t want to be dead, he doesn’t want to see his family and friends dead with him… just saying…

That said, I still love Felicity, obviously, but she needs to chill.

Criminal Minds (Hero Worship):

I love any episode that is Reid related. But please tell me that Dylan Einstein, the Forensic specialist will be making a return? Please… if she returns into Reid’s arms, I won’t complaint…

Law & Order: SVU (Decaying Morality):

Finally got my SVU in day and this episode is seriously messed up…

Baby Daddy (Over My Dead Bonnie):

Funny as usual, but I was beginning to wonder how much longer they would drag us through the potential something between Riley and Danny, while Ben was pretty much on to it. This was the episode, a heartbroken Ben finally broke up with his girlfriend, because she made his brother more of a priority than him… wow… Ben is usually the guy who’s unaware of stuff, but in this he was spot on… poor guy. And Riley?! Her defense was “I’ve been in love with you so long that I never thought about my feelings for Danny”… outch!

The Big Bang Theory (The Troll Manifestation):

The Troll Manifestation

That was a surprise. Throughout the whole episode I thought it would be one of Sheldon’s nemesis, or Wil Wheton messing with him, but it turned out to be the great Stephen Hawking! WOW!

I would kill for Sheldon’s mad ability of writing and publishing a paper overnight… kill I say!

Also, Amy’s fanfiction!!! OMG!!! We will never unsee that!

Spider-Man is coming to Marvel’s Cinematic Universe!

This is a great piece of news to wake up to! After a long negotiation, Marvel has announced yesterday that they reached an agreement with Sony that will allow Spider-Man to come to the MCU.

As Marvel announced, Spidey will be making an appearance within the MCU and then he’ll get his own solo movie, coming out July 28, 2017, and it will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal (Sony). That said, the Spider-Man franchise is not leaving Sony, but if you can’t beat them, join them, and that’s what Sony is doing with this one. You can see the full announcement, made in the Marvel’s website, below.

Ah, they will also incorporate some MCU carathers into the Spidey movie.

When this was announced, the first thought is that Spidey will probably make his first appearance in Captain America: Civil War, the Cap 3 is looking more and more like Avengers 2.5.

My second thought is that it won’t be with Andrew Garfield (as The Wrap confirmed) but I do hope they won’t recast Peter Parker.

I don’t want to see a 3rd actor being Parker in 10 years! It would be a great opportunity to introduce the new Spidey, Miles Morales, to the movie universe, right?!

“Marvel’s Kevin Feige to Produce Next Installment of the Spider-Man Franchise with Amy Pascal

(Culver City, California, and Burbank, California February 09, 2015) – Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios announced today that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man.

Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.

Marvel and Sony Pictures are also exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.

The new relationship follows a decade of speculation among fans about whether Spider-Man – who has always been an integral and important part of the larger Marvel Universe in the comic books – could become part of the Marvel Universe on the big screen. Spider-Man has more than 50 years of history in Marvel’s world, and with this deal, fans will be able to experience Spider-Man taking his rightful place among other Super Heroes in the MCU.

Bob Iger, Chairman and CEO, The Walt Disney Company said: “Spider-Man is one of Marvel’s great characters, beloved around the world. We’re thrilled to work with Sony Pictures to bring the iconic web-slinger into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which opens up fantastic new opportunities for storytelling and franchise building.”

“We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters. Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy, who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man,” said Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment. “This is the right decision for the franchise, for our business, for Marvel, and for the fans.”

“Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios share a love for the characters in the Spider-Man universe and have a long, successful history of working together. This new level of collaboration is the perfect way to take Peter Parker’s story into the future,” added Doug Belgrad, president, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group.

“I am thrilled to team with my friends at Sony Pictures along with Amy Pascal to produce the next Spider-Man movie,” said Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. “Amy has been deeply involved in the realization on film of one of the world’s most beloved characters. Marvel’s involvement will hopefully deliver the creative continuity and authenticity that fans demand from the MCU. I am equally excited for the opportunity to have Spider-Man appear in the MCU, something which both we at Marvel, and fans alike, have been looking forward to for years.”

Spider-Man, embraced all over the world, is the most successful franchise in the history of Sony Pictures, with the five films having taken in more than $4 billion worldwide.”

Celebrity Crush (and Happy Birthday!): Tom Hiddleston

Because it’s his 34th birthday! A very happy birthday to the amazing Tom Hiddleston!

My Tiny Obsessions

Who doesn’t have a crush on Tom Hiddleston, am I right? I mean, the guy could easily anyone at any given place (and that includes the male population) and he’s still the sweetest guy alive. He great looking, but most of all, he’s polite, gentle and super super british! I came across a link on Buzzfeed about how Tom is really a Disney Prince, and I guess it sums everything up:

1. Let’s start with the obvious. He’s insanely good looking in period clothes.

2. He looks dashing rowing you across the lake at sunset.

3. All the while reciting thinly veiled sex poetry because SWOON.

4. He speaks multiple languages* because of course he does.

*Let’s be honest, he could be reciting his grocery list as long as it’s in French.

5. Which he can recite while whisking all…

This week on TV (like, Monday and Tuesday, 2-3 Feb)

The whole week was getting a bit big, so, here’s Monday and Tuesday’s shows:

Jane the Virgin (Chapter 12):

This week Jane and Rafael visited Luisa in the “nut house”; Rogelio was fired from his telenovela, Milos finally found Petra and we finally learned the identity of “Sin Rostro”.

I have to admit that I love Rafael and Jane together, I love how normal their relationship is. Jaime Camil’s Rogelio is just amazing, it’s impossible not to love him, he totally broke my heart while he was dealing with the loss of his job and the fact that his daughter finally called him “dad”. Petra and Milos working together was just amazing and the fact that Jane was actually her shoulder to cry on. Finally, did you see the identity of “Sin Rostro” come?! I totally thought it was Petra’s mom… I was so mistaken!!!

“You can’t have The Passions of Santos without Santos! Then it’s just Passions, and that show failed!”

Sleepy Hollow (Spellcaster):

A lot of witchcraft going on… So, Henry is alive and well and ran into some conscious problems, but not anymore… and what’s more, Frank is working with Henry and they’re planning something nasty!

I still don’t like Katrina, and now, with the white eyes and messed up things going on, she’ll definitely turn bad at some point.

Also, how’s Ichabod and Katrina’s marriage?! They’re living under the same roof, but are they even having sex?!

Castle (I, Witness):

Poor Castle had it rough this week. After an old school classmate asks for his help as a PI, determining if he’s having an affair, and ends up being a witness for a crime that did not happen… he really had a tough time.

As entertaining as it is this whole PI thing from Castle, when does he get back to the precinct?!

Broadchurch (Episode 5):

Wow, it still amazes me how they are keeping up the quality of this show. I still have no idea who the Sandbrook killer really is, I think Tom know more about Danny’s death than he has let on.

I’m so scared that Alec is not going to survive this season… he looked really bad this last episode.

Ellie Miller is my hero! “I’m gonna solve this!”, that’s the spirit girl!

Marvel’s Agent Carter (The Iron Ceiling):

Why aren’t more people watching this show? It’s amazing! This week we got the Howling Commandos back, Thompson finally saw Peggy’s worth, while Sousa started to connect the mysterious blond to Peggy Carter.

It was great to see “Dum Dum” Dugan again and to see how the Howling commandos treat Peggy, so differently from the people from her own squad. They respect and admire her, and view her as an equal sometime, and as a superior most of the times.

Dottie… oh man, Dottie… she’s a Black Widow right? Same type of training and everything… it’s scary!

Forever (Hitler on the Half-Shell):

I really enjoyed this episode, though how can they be somehow “pardoning” Adam, after the way he had just killed that guy in the container, is beyond me.

Supernatural (About a Boy):

Mini-Dean (Dylan Everett) was just the best, almost as good as real-Dean (Jensen Ackles), he nailed it … I mean: “My voice is weird and I’ve got like nine zits and I have zero control over this. I mean, it’s up, it’s down, it’s up for no reason!”… Hilarious!

I love that they got Mrs Patmore from Downton Abbey to play the Witch, she was marvelous!

And Dean (mini and big) liking Taylor Swift?! OMG, I laughed so hard at that!

The Flash (Crazy for You):

Caitlin and Barry coming to the conclusion that they have no personal life, going up for drinks and karaoke, and then Barry not only holding her hair while she throws up, but putting her on her pajamas, getting her to bed and staying with her until she fell asleep?! Cutest thing ever!

It’s great that they both decided to move on, but was it just me, or Caitlin was a tiny bit sad that Barry had a date with another girl? Speaking of Linda, how bad was that burn Iris?! Right? Is she going to realize now, that the guy is dating, that she might have had feelings for him all along?

The thing that surprised me the most was that fact that Cisco was kind of a badass… he’s got some moves.

I love that Barry’s dad figured it out that he’s The Flash, and managed to tell him how proud he is of him and for him to be careful, without actually telling him that he knows. Barry has the best dads!

Movie of the Week: Love, Rosie

OMG, I have waited long enough for this movie to be released… since it never actually came to Spanish cinemas. Love, Rosie is a British romantic comedy directed by Christian Ditter, based on the 2004 novel Where Rainbows End by Irish author Cecelia Ahern. The story follows best friends Alex (Sam Claflin) and Rosie (Lily Collins) throughout their lives, with all their almosts and mistakes. There might be SPOILERS.

The story starts at the night of Rosie’s 18th birthday, where she and Alex share a kiss, but she drank so much that the next day she doesn’t remember anything. Because she doesn’t want to talk about the previous night, Alex assumes she thinks it was a mistake and ends up inviting another girl to the dance, while Rosie accepts an invitation from Greg (the incredible hot guy). At the dance Rosie and Greg have sex, but the condom gets “lost” and she ends the night in the hospital with Alex. Alex is applying to Harvard medical school and he wants her to join him in Boston, where she can attend Boston University, obviously she says yes. Feeling sick for a while she then decides to go to a pharmacy and ends up getting a pregnancy test… surprise surprise, it’s positive… and she took the morning after pill and everything. Alex surprises her with his good news, he got a scholarship and he’s moving away to Boston, she lets him go, not telling him what’s really going on, and promises she’ll meet him in a few weeks there.

She then comes up with the brilliant plan: Alex never has to know about the baby, she can just delay her plans for a few months. She decides to give the baby up to adoption, but when the time comes, she’s not able to. She keeps Katie, while still hiding it from her best friend. The plan backfires and Alex eventually finds out and asks to be the baby’s godfather.

The next 5 years go by. Alex is in a stable relationship with Sally, and Rosie has Katie and her best friend Ruby, while being a maid in a hotel. They’re both not happy, and when Alex asks Rosie to visit him in Boston, she jumps at the opportunity, thinking that maybe this is the time she’ll get him… only to find out that not only he’s not happy, but his girlfriend Sally is pregnant. The two get into a fight, Rosie accuses him of having an awful personal live, while Alex attacks her for being a single mom, they do not part well.

Back home she contacts Katie’s dad, Greg, and decided to give him a chance, eventually marrying him. Meanwhile, Alex separates from Sally and it turns out that the baby wasn’t his. After Rosie’s father funeral, Alex decides to write a letter to Rosie telling her that he can make her happy, that he loves her. Unfortunately the letter never reaches Rosie. Soon after, though, Rosie finds out that Greg is cheating her, and after punching him in the face, she’s putting his things away (not nicely) when she comes about the letter.

Oh the letter, she immediately gets into contact with Alex, only to find out that Bethany (his prom date) is living with him (thanks to her, she was the one who told her she should go see him) and the two are getting married. At their wedding, Rosie finally fesses up and tells Alex that she loves him (while covering up nicely with a brother/sister analogy), and Alex then tells her that they did kiss when they were 18.

They say goodbye and back home Rosie decided to fulfill her dream of owning an hotel. At the day of the opening Alex shows up, telling her that he and Bethany knew it wasn’t right, and the two of them finally kiss (properly).

Final thoughts:

I really enjoyed this movie. Sure, it’s nothing totally new, but it’s well written and very well acted. I specially loved that the character actually go through stuff… usually, one of them is about to get marry but the other one can stop it, or something comes up. Not here though, they both do get married to the wrong people. They don’t leave everything behind for the other person. It’s kind of refreshing.

Lily and Sam have an amazing chemistry, their “almost kisses” were brilliant.

I love the kids. Katie and her best friend turned boyfriend are amazingly cute.

The characterization is quite well done, while Lily Collins can still appear very young, Sam has a very manish quality to him, it’s nice that they were able to somehow make him look like a teenager at the beginning of the movie. And the music… man, the music is awesome.
