This week’s theme is: Top Ten Authors I’ve Read The Most Books From. Interesting!!! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. I always read throughout my life, but never as much as now, so I haven’t read a lot of books from the same authors…
Let the countdown begin!
1. Ana Maria Magalhães and Isabel Alçada (at least 13 books)
Who are these people, you ask? Well, every country has it’s own children’s books, right? In Portugal we have a series called Uma Aventura (An Adventure), written by these lovely ladies, that started out in 1982 and is still going strong, it now has 52 books! Yep, they’re very prolific! I stopped reading these a while back, and as these books are stuffed in a box somewhere in my storage room back home, I have no idea exactly how many of them I read, but I can remember reading at least 13, which makes them number one on this list!
2. J. K. Rowling (11 books)
Queen Jo Rowling gets a second place on the list (and this is without her books that I still have to read…). She gets this spot due to her 7 Harry Potter books, 3 companion books and Very Good Lives.
3. Cassandra Clare (10 books)
This one was obvious, and she’s not on top because I’m still to read the codex and the Shadowhunters Academy novellas, but as soon as her new book drops, she’ll probably be on top.
4. Dan Brown (5 books)
Dan Brown has 5 books on this list, the only one of his that I’ve not read yet is Inferno. The first four covers are in portuguese, because I read those books in my mother language. It was a crazy time when The Da Vinci Code came out, I read his previous 3 books soon after, and when The Lost Symbol came out, I was not willing to wait for the portuguese edition… it contributed a lot to me just reading in english nowadays.
5. Rainbow Rowell (4 books)
I’ve said that Rainbow Rowell is my spirit animal, I’ve only read 4 books from her, because that’s all there is 😦 !!!
Sarah J. Maas is a very recent love, and she will climb this list a few places in just a few weeks, as soon as I read The Assassin’s Blade and Queen of Shadows!
7. Stephenie Meyer (4 books)
The whole Twilight saga is four books. I actually read most of The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide, but I don’t think I finished it, so I’m not counting it…
8. Suzanne Collins (3 books)
The Hunger Games trilogy.
9. Jenny Han (2 books)
I’ve only read two books by Jenny Han, though I want to give The Summer I turned Pretty a chance…
10. Jane Austen (2 books)
I still have a few left to read… I intend to read at least one more of her books until the end of this year!
11. George R.R. Martin (2 books)
I’ve only read the first two books from A Song of Ice and Fire, though I want to finish the series! I started book 3 a while back, but wasn’t feeling it, so I dropped it, I might want to think about picking it up again.
It is likely that I might have miss someone in here, given than I don’t always recall books that I’ve read a while ago (and I’m not home to look at my shelf). I know I’ve read at least 2 Kathy Reich’s books, but I don’t even recall their names, so…
See you next week!
Is it weird that I’ve only read two “Uma Aventura” books? I didn’t read as a kid so maybe it’s not that weird =D
it’s not weird! When I was a kid there was no Harry Potter, and we didn’t read Narnia and stuff, we read Uma Aventura, because that was what the supermarkets sold… and it was “fun” 😀 Nowadays there are a lot more options for kids and teens…
In my defense I’m not that young =D. I only heard about Harry Potter when I was 11/12 and only start reading it this year when I’m 25 XD
I’ve read it more or less at the same age 🙂 though when Harry Potter became big in Portugal, I was in my last years of high school
I read the first one when it became huge here but as I said before, I didn’t like to read… That only changed when I read “Os Maias” in school a few years later what is even weirder =D
😐 really? I was lucky enough that my class didn’t have time to reach Os Maias, and I didn’t even read it… it’s on my TBR now… How did you find Os Lusiadas?
I loved “Os Maias”… Sometimes it was too descriptive but it was amazing… I didn’t read a lot of “Os Lusiadas” because my teacher had to miss a few classes
I found OS lusiadas fascinating, I need to re-read that soon as well. Os Maias is part of my 2015 Reading Challenge – a book i was supposed to read at school, lol
I have the same challenge but I will probably read “Memorial do Convento”. Let”s just say that my 17 year-old self didn’t like Saramago
i didn’t have to read that… =/ i think… did you have portuguese B or A?
I think that we only had one portuguese because some of my friends from different areas read the same books and did the same exams that I did
really? that’s weird… i didn’t have to read Saramago, and I don’t think I would like it
I read the first chapters and gave up. I didn’t enjoy it and I was lucky that it wasn’t in the exams in that year
I was the same way about Rainbow I’d felt that id read a tone of her books when really only been 4 haha! Great list 🙂
i wish there were more books by her, i love her writing style
Not long till Carry On!!! YAY!
Such cool books on here!
thank you
That’s a really cool list, I think I’m going to do it too! 🙂
😀 yes! doi t!
Great list! I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter extras but I think I will pick some of those up when I reread the series.
You have to at least read Fantastic Beast and where to find them before the movie comes out 🙂
I completely forgot about the movie! I’ll have to pick up the book soon.
in truth, from what I recall, it’s more the beasts names and locations with a few side notes by Newt, it’s easy and fast and really small
I hope you’ll give Jenny Han’s summer a try and I hope you’ll like it 🙂 Are you going to read Carry On by Rainbow Rowell too? I hope it’s not a total copy of Harry Potter. Haha 😀
I want to read more by Jenny Han for sure, I’ve been eyeing the books and everything 😉
I’ll read carry on, obviously, but it will be like HP-fanfic, you know, if Harry and Draco were in love with each other 😉 it will be fun
Great list!
Great list of books and authorsď
*authors oops!
thank you. I do feel i need to read more of some authors… I have a lot of books by some authors that I have yet to read
Yes to Sarah J Maas, Cassandra Clare and Rainbow Rowell! Probably the three top female authors on my list this year and possibly forever! Great list, many of the authors you mentioned, I’ve read their books. xoxo
the 3 of them are amazing, they are on my list of instant-buys now 😀
