Book Traveling Thursdays: Oh no! Summer is almost over!

Hello, welcome back for the 3rd week ok Book Traveling 168709Thursdays, which a weekly meme created by Catia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog. The goal is to share the covers of a book related to that week’s theme, which you can see at the Goodreads group, indicating the original cover, the one of your country, your favorite and least favorite.

This week’s theme is “Oh no! Summer is almost over! Choose one of your favorite summer reads“. This was a huge problem for me, why?! Well, this summer I mostly read newly released fantasy books which covers are not very diverse or eARCS, which only have the one cover for now… So I’m going with An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir.

Original Over:

This is the cover I own, look how pretty it is… US hardcover, released back in April.

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

Well, don’t get all excited, the first cover is not from Portugal, but it’s actually from Brazil – yeah, we still don’t have it either. But here in Spain, the book is coming out in September I guess, so there’s that. They’re are just like the original, so bonus points for not ruining a perfect gorgeous cover.

FAVORITE COVER:

I love the original US cover, but I’m IN LOVE with the UK cover. It’s so pretty!!! I like it because it’s simpler than the US version, and I’m a sucker for black covers with gold…

LEAST FAVORITE COVER:

This is the Bulgarian cover… I hate it. Seriously, why would they not use one of the 2 gorgeous designs that already existed? I don’t get it…

Bout of Books 14: 4 Seasons Book Covers

Hiii! It’s day 4 of the Bout of Books read-a-thon and I’m super happy with my progress! So, I finished my first book and review it here on the blog, and yesterday morning I started my second book of my read-a-thon TBR, which is The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh, and I’m already 230 pages in, I didn’t want to stop reading last night, but my eyes betrayed me and I just had to stop =( – this book is incredible!!!!

But without further ado, today’s challenge is hosted by Kimberly Faye Reads and is the 4 Seasons Book Covers Challenge. “For this challenge, you need to convey the four seasons in book covers – through color, title, cover, etc. You can be literal or take a more creative approach. Anything goes! Just show me four seasons in book covers.”

Given that most of my books are in Portugal anyway, I decided to use covers from my childhood for this challenge. So, I chose 4 books by Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, who writes children’s books and poetry, and whose books we portuguese children always read in primary school. They still read them, my youngest niece already has some. And they are gorgeous and amazing stories (that unfortunately I don’t remember), and the covers always reminded me of the 4 seasons somehow.

So, what do you think of these covers? 🙂

My Purpose for Blogging

I have mentioned before in other award why I started blogging, it had to do about my need to express myself in all the areas that I wanted to fangirl about, but had no one in real life to fangirl to. That’s is still very much why I keep doing it day to day, of course, but also I now like to know what everyone else is thinking about my opinions, likes and dislikes (guess is not so different from you Kat!). I like to fangirl about ship with other bloggers, or discuss plot points, and my opinions sometimes even change through this balanced discussion of ideas.

I also like to share informative stuff. Whenever I find a cool thing that I think some of my followers might enjoy, that keeps me going too.

I also feel like blogging has opened my world a bit (even if it makes me spend a little more time in front of a screen!). But I learn about other people, cultural habits, the differences from my experience to anyone else’s, I find new books to read, movies to see and TV shows to gush over.

So, my purpose?! All in all, I blog because it makes me happy and completes me in some weird and wonderful way. The purpose is to do what brings me joy :).
