Tiny Pleasures #8

tiny pleasuresOk, let’s from now on assume that I’ll do this on a monthly (or 2 weeks) basis, and not weekly, because my life is boring as hell, ok? So, The Weekly Small Pleasures is a weekly feature created by A New Life Wandering.

1. The Guild!!!

After listening to Felicia Day’s book, You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost), I decided to watch the thing that had made her (that she made). I was so not disappointed. The show is incredible and I grew super attached to these characters that I saw on screen only for a few hours…

2. Winter is closer!

DSC04646This won’t sound weird at all, if you’ve been paying attention… I hate the summer, truly truly hate it. Between the sun, me sweating buckets and the mosquito bites, I’m super ready for it to be over. So, not only are we in September, but I already made my first Winter-shopping! I bought 2 scarves (thingies) and a beanie! They’re so gorgeous!!! I can’t wait to be cold enough to wear it.

3. Amazing Blogging Month!

This past month was incredible in terms of blogging. I posted every single day, 3 to 4 posts a day, I reached 500 followers, and I met a ton of wonderful new people. So happy!

I had a lovely time talking to everybody and posting like crazy 😀 !!!

4. Inside Out is freaking AMAZING!!!

I don’t know why I put it off for so long, but I finally went to watch Inside Out and OH MY GOSH!!! That movie is phenomenal. So many feels! I was laughing, then crying, then laughing AND crying… what a rollercoaster of emotions!

 5. I’m in love with my new Day Planner!

So so in love with it!!! Isn’t it pretty?! The only issue I have with it is that it’s in spanish… but hey, I can live with that!

6. An Empty University!

IMG_20150821_205505August is a month when nobody goes to the university. And I mean NOBODY! There were days when the sign in sheet only had a couple of pages! I don’t get it, but hey, it meant I was alone in my office (without AC, obviously, because it’s August!) and that I got to see some beautiful sunsets on my way out, without people in the way.

7. I’m going home (for a week)!

I’m spending one week in Portugal later this month. I was there in July, but I already miss home… This time I’ll be able to see my brother (he lives in Angola), so I’m happy about that.

September TBR

Oh September, I hope you turn out to be a good reading month…

setember_tbr

This month I intend to read quite a few books, but I’ll only set a few on stone.

1. Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi – As I said in the August Wrap-Up, I’m more than 400 pages in this already, and I want very much to finish it before tomorrow.

2. Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi – I’ll be reading the novella as soon as I finish Unravel Me, obviously.

3. Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi – Do I need to explain this?

4. The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas – I’m gonna try finish this one before Queen of Shadows even get here.

5. Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas – I’m super anxious to get this one on my hands, although I won’t be in a hurry to finish it, I want to go there at my own pace.

6. An Infinite Number Of Parallel Universes  by Randy Ribay – eARC, it comes out in October, but I’m super curious to read it.

7. Finding Perfect by Kendra C. Highley – eARC, comes out this month, so it has to be read soon!

I’ll try to squeeze in a few more eARCs, I’ll be spending a week in Lisbon towards the end of the month, so while home isn’t the best place to get reading done – too many people to see all the time, the plane rides are ideal, and I suspect that it will be all a whole lot easier with the kindle.

Doctor Who: River Song will return for Christmas Special

BBC has announced today that Alex Kingston will be back as River Song for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special.

“To be honest, I did not know whether River would ever return to the show, but here she is, back with the Doctor for the Christmas special. Steven Moffat is on glittering form, giving us an episode filled with humour and surprise guest castings. I met Peter for the first time at Monday’s read through, we had a laugh, and I am now excited and ready to start filming with him and the Doctor Who team. Christmas in September? Why not!” – Alex Kingston

“Another Christmas, another special for Doctor Who – and what could be more special than the return of Alex Kingston as Professor River Song. The last time the Doctor saw her she was a ghost. The first time he met her, she died. So how can he be seeing her again? As ever, with the most complicated relationship in the universe, it’s a matter of time.” – Steven Moffat

I’m both excited and terrified about this return. For one hand, I love River and I LOVE Alex Kingston, and I think that she might have even better chemistry with Peter Capaldi than she had with Matt Smith. I really think that River and the 12th Doctor might complement each other very well. On the other hand, this is a huge deal and I’m a bit afraid that Steven Moffat might screw up along the way (I’m not coy about the fact that I don’t really like Steven Moffat’s direction to the show).

Either way, this is an exciting piece of news and something to look forward to.
