Given that my blog is called My Tiny Obsessions, today I’ll share 5 small obsessions that I had throughout my life:
1. Tribal Wars – From sometime between 2008 and 2009 I was highly addicted to Tribal Wars, which is medieval strategy game. It started when my boyfriend (at the time, now ex) and our group of friends started playing. At the time he gave me one account he had just created and taught me the rules. Soon enough I had a super high level and was managing several villages (like a lot), in several different Worlds of the game and belonged to several Tribes. This implied launching attacks at all hours of the day (and night) and spending several hours building buildings and troops… good times.
2. Body Training Systems (BTS) & Gym in general – I started to go regularly to my local gym when I was 17, at the time with 3 friends, 2 of which gave up pretty soon, but 2 of us stuck to it! We started going a few times a week, but soon it became a daily event, and soon after that I was going to the gym for at least 2 classes a day, 6 to 7 days a week… Damn, I would wake up on Saturday morning to be at the 10 a.m. class, and I would be there until 1p.m. – GOOD OLD DAYS! Body Combat was always my favorite thing, so much that I knew most of the routines for all the tracks and didn’t even need to look at our instructor… Body Combat was something that I did at least 3 times a week…
It would go something like this: Monday – Body Pump, Body Combat; Tuesday – Body Balance, Funk/Hip-Hop, Body Combat (and sometimes Body Attack after); Wednesday – Body Pump, Body Combat; Thursday – Body Pump, Funk/Hip-Hop, Body Combat; Friday – Body Jam, Body Attack; Saturday – Body Balance, Body Jam, Body Combat (and sometimes Body Pump), Sunday – Body Combat (weakest day). Are you tired yet? Because I am, I have no idea how I managed to do all that, but I did and it felt great, and stopping was the worst thing I ever did.
3. The Sims – For a brief period in 2010 and then in 2012, I was completely addicted to The Sims 3. Building stuff was always my favorite part. I do own most of the expansions for The Sims 3, and I have The Sims 4, but it’s not the same…
4. Sailor Moon – ‘Till these days all my cousins (all male and younger than me), know that if Sailor Moon was on, they would have to watch it, or else… I loved it, I was completely obsessed and it lasted several years. I would watch all episodes that aired in the portuguese TV, and given that at the time I lived very closed to Spain and got all the spanish channels, I would record SM on TV Galicia and TVE, because spanish episodes were more recent than those airing in Portugal. Each day I would come home from school and watched the recorded episodes… every day! I had them all. I recently watched all the episodes and movies, that anime was a gem!
5. Baywatch – Baywatch would air every summer, and again, my cousins knew better than to mess with my TV hours… 6 p.m. was Baywatch time, religious! I loved it. I can probably still remember most of the characters and season arcs…

Still my favorite season…
I was addicted to the Sims too! I own Sims 4 but it’s no fun without extension packs and I’d rather spend my money on something else *cough*books*cough*
yeah 😀 I wasn’t a big fan of Sims 4, the base game lost a lot of functions 😦
They brought some features back with their updates, like the family tree for example (I really missed that in the beginning) but it still feels so limited in comparison. I mean what happened to the open world concept? Why do I have to buy an extension pack for my sim to become a cop? So many jobs just aren’t available anymore … it’s a bit frustrating
YES!!! all of that really bugged me too! So I wasn’t so tempted to play, and now I haven’t opened the game in months… The open world was what bugged me the most
Totally understandable! It was like a step back in sim-evolution.
LOL, yes! I only played Sims 3 and then 4, but why go back on a feature that was so cool? It’s like they invested all this time making the Sims themselves more customizable and forgot the rest of the game
Boy, am I glad I did not spend money on that one…
I have Sims 2 and Sims 3.
When Sims 2 was discontinued, for a brief time they made it available for free with all the expansion packs. I got it and still play it to this day.
I have a weird relationship with the Sims. Either I am completely obsessed with it and live and breathe it or I am totally bored with it and don’t play for months.
😀 I was more or less the same, I played consistently throughout a few months, then one day I didn’t open it, and kept not opening for more than a year, then started again – completely obsessed, then stopped cold turkey.
Odd. Must be a thing with the Sims, eh.
It’s a shame that it takes so long to load stuff.
oh yeah, it takes SO LONG! 😦
I was addicted to Sailor Moon and Baywatch… I still remember how much I loved to watch Baywatch (and I was only 7/8 years-old 😛 ). And when Baywatch wasn’t on I would watch Lois & Clark
Oh yeah, Lois & Clark, I loved that! I have all the seasons! 😀 I watched Clark’s proposal in the rain and Lois’ “who’s asking? Clark or Superman?” a thousand times
That was when portuguese TV stations weren’t all about soap operas… The good old times
yeah 😀 when all the open channels transmitted good TV shows on weekend afternoons, like Stargate and Buffy…
Now you have «música pimba» every sunday in two of that channels and every saturday in the other one
yeah, it changed a lot when cable became mainstream… seeing how now we have channels that show tv shows or movies 24/7… the networks decided they don’t have to bother
Tell me about it. Every now and then I still remember Jogos Sem Fronteiras. Now those were the days *leans on cane*
I still watch it sometimes on RTP memoria… It was so good
Really? How cool. I tend to forget TV exists O.o
yeah… I think it’s on almost every weekday but I’m not sure
OMG, I loved those. summer was always great because of those!
Yeah and it was so exciting. I wonder if it would still be. These days it seems like everything has been said and done, not easy to excite folks.
i don’t think it would. the kind of humour is different nowadays, and everything is so close because of the internet and stuff, that those kind of things are not so relevant
Yep, unfortunately I agree.
Maybe the old geezers would still enjoy it.
And me.
lol. I don’t know, I feel like if they would to it today they would put someone like Cristina Ferreira or someone else hip at the moment, and it would be more about making fun, bad humour, than the games and the fun in them… but I might be wrong… I think TV evolved in a weird way 😦
True, true… I was only thinking of a version that was true to the real thing but you’re right, they would most definitely ruin it.
Eládio Clímaco, you will be missed 😦
😦
Oh wow what a trip down memory lane. I was crazy about Sailor Moon as well. I can probably still sing the theme song in almost its entirety as well.
Can’t say I share your enthusiasm with the gym, sadly, as my scale would let you know!
I have played several online games but Tribal Wars was not one of them.
Great post!
Unfortunately, nowadays, if I go to the gym once a week I consider it a victory… which makes me sad 😦 !
Yeah, I can imagine, you seem to enjoy it a lot. I feel that way about not having time to read 😛
Ok, WordPress is acting weird, it’s telling me to follow you but duh I already do -.-
LOL! it gets weird sometimes 🙂
The Sims! OMG, I was a total Sims and Sims 2 addict when I was younger… I never got to the third version though.
I never played before Sims 3, it was so good 🙂
OMG! I suddenly have a dose of nostalgia seeing THE SIMS here! I was addicted to it back in high school. Do you like the cast lined up for the new Baywatch movie???
I’ve only heard of Zac Efron and The Rock and honestly, I’m not very enthusiastic about it… what abou you?
Me too. I’m not a fan of (seemingly) steroid-infused bodies like The Rock’s so I was kinda disappointed he was casted.
apparently it’s all his idea… and they said it’s gonna be super different from the original… I don’t like that 😦
Used to adore the Sims 🙂 I remember spending ages on Sims 1 and 2 making santa appear and trapping the pizza man in the moat I had created 😛 Fab games!
😀 oh, that sounds like fun!
I am also a Sailor Moon fan, Kudos for the award 😉
yay! 😀 Sailor Moon Rocks!
