December Wrap-Up

OMG, I can’t believe that 2015 is over! Where did this freaking year go? It went by way too fast, right?

My December TBR had a great amount of 9 books in there, and I ended up reading 18 books, though some were novellas or short stories. I didn’t manage to finish Carry On by Rainbow Rowell (though I started it), Winter by Marissa Meyer and Crystallum by Laney McMann, because it took me forever to finish a review book… =/

This month I read:

And then I read a bundle with 8 books/novellas:

Books Reviewed:

  1. Cress by Marissa Meyer
  2. Deal Breakers by Laura Lee
  3. Reasons To Love A Nerd Like Me by Becky Jerams
  4. Whatever it Takes by L.E. Bross
  5. More Than Exes by Elizabeth Briggs
  6. More Than Music  by Elizabeth Briggs
  7. This Song Is (Not) For You by Laura Nowlin
  8. Eight Naughty Nights by Eliza Madison
  9. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon
  10. The Girl’s Got Secrets by Linda Kage
  11. Banged: Rock Stars, Bad Boys & Dirty Deeds
  12. Distraction by Laura Clark

This will be my 60th post of the month of December, and also my 1000th overall post! YUUUUPPPIII!!! That’s huge, right?!

This was my December! I’ll be posting my January TBR in a day or two. For now, I’m 10 hours away from 2016, so I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

2016 Resolutions Book Tag

It’s the last day of the year, so time for a few resolutions! Trisha @The Bookgasm tagged me for this super original and fun bookish tag, the 2016 Resolutions Book Tag, and even though I’m not exactly a resolutions kind of person, I thought “why not?!“.

“4 topics only. Not a fan of multiple questions, sorry! No rules. Give whatever. No right or wrong. You’re your own boss!”

Bookish Resolutions

In 2016, I will…

1. Request less books from Netgalley. I’ve been overdoing it for a couple of months now, and it has to stop, or at least slow down, because my To Read for Review pile is ginormous.

2. Read more books from my shelf. I won’t impose myself a book-buying ban or anything of the sorts, but I do want to get through some books that I already own and that I didn’t get to this year.

3. Buy a second bookshelf and put away all my books. The trouble with living in 2 houses is that I have books everywhere, and each time I come home from Barcelona, I don’t have the space to put away the books I brought with me. This will be better once I get my second shelf.

Book Blogging Resolutions

In 2016, I will…

1. Keep posting at least 5 times a week, ideally every day. I like it! I like to have something to say every day, and if I keep reading at the pace of the last few months, this won’t be a problem.

2. Stop blog hopping while at work. This one is important. I need to stop with this bad habit.

3. Be more active in social media and make more blog friends 😀 !

4. Do some discussion posts. I only did one so far and I really liked it, and I want to keep doing them, maybe create a one a month kind of thing… I think that would work for me.

Career/ Academic Resolutions

In 2016, I will…

1. Finish my PhD! I know this one is a big point, but it is the main goal for 2016!

2. Find a job. With or without finishing my PhD, I need to get a job or paid position soon, because my grant ended this month and now I’m officially unemployed and just a student again, and that sucks.

3. Do a short stay in another lab, mainly to learn a couple of techniques that are important for my future job in my area (whatever it turns out to be).

Personal Resolutions

In 2016, I will…

1. Stop slacking on my Gym attendance…. seriously!

2. Get out of my comfort zone (I’m stealing this one from Kat).

3. Meet new people. I’m terrible at meeting new people, but I want to change my place of work, and it would be a good opportunity to be a little more sociable.

This is it, I’m done with my resolutions! Now, what about you? What are your resolutions for the coming year?

✨✨✨ Happy New Year!!!! ✨✨✨

Book Traveling Thursdays: Favorite Read in 2015

Hello, welcome back to another Book Traveling 168709Thursdays, which a weekly meme created by Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog. The goal is to share the covers of a book related to that week’s theme, which you can see at the Goodreads group, indicating the original cover, the one of your country, your favorite and least favorite.

This week’s theme is “It’s the last day of 2015! Choose your favorite book read in 2015“. Once again, the covers fail me! My favorite read of 2015 was Queen of Shadows, but there are only 2 covers for it, given that it came out not that long ago… so, I’m gonna chose ONE OF MY FAVORITES of 2015! And that will be Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell :D. I’m currently reading Carry On, and it somehow seems fitting to end the year with a book that made me want to read a lot more and that has one of my favorite covers ever.

Original COver:

I love love love this cover! I don’t think there’s anyone who doesn’t like it, right?

I love that this book is already out in Portugal and in Spain :D! The Portuguese edition is similar to the one I own, which is probably my favorite. It’s similar to the original, but the focus is more on the title and not on Cath and Levi. The spanish edition is pretty much the same as the original.

Favorite COVER(s):

These are my favorite covers for Fangirl. The first is the one I own and it’s the UK paperback edition. The second is the hardcover Exclusive Collector’s Edition, and I love how big Cath and Levi are here, it just works. And the last one is a paperback Special Fan Art Edition and I love this combination of yellow with pink.

The Slovak just doesn’t work for me, even though it is the original one, but the lettering is just… no… and that huge white balloon isn’t really looking good either. The Hungarian and Serbian covers are just BAD!
