Chasing Crazy (Kelly Siskind)

“Dear Mom & Dad, I dropped out of school. I’m going backpacking. Sorry. Love you both.”

At nineteen, Nina has endured two lifetime’s worth of humiliation. Tired of waiting for it to get better, she decides to get going—across the globe to New Zealand. There she soon faces what she most fears: a super sexy guy ready to be Nina’s next mistake.

Once Sam’s life was all about having fun. That was before the accident. Now his friends have bailed and his world is broken. But when a gorgeous girl on his flight looks at him with passion instead of pity, Sam feels his old self coming back to life.

Now traveling together, Nina and Sam know this isn’t just a fling. They’re falling fast, hard, and deep. More than anything, Sam wants Nina to forget her fears. But to help her do that he must reveal his own painful secret—and risk Nina never seeing him the same way again.

You know when you just know you’re gonna love a book from the first couple of pages? Yeah, this was one of those books. The book opens with one of the main characters telling us how she decided that there are “three official have-to-pee stages”, and from there I couldn’t stop cracking, because it was beyond funny.

I don’t know how else to describe how amazing the writing style is, just that Kelly Siskind had me laughing out loud and tearing up like a baby in a matter of chapters. Freaking perfect!

I absolutely loved the characters, not only are they both amazing narrators, funny and witty, but they are also brilliant characters, both broken and beaten and full of light. Nina with her accident-prone life and her “incident” recorded on YouTube for life, with her hippie parents and 5 younger siblings, and no direction in life. And Sam, broken and scarred after a car accident that took everything from him, including his mom, and that left his confidence and self-esteem shattered. It was absolutely amazing to read how they come together and help each other face their true selves, and how they fall for one another in the way. HARD! And let me tell you, it’s impossible not to root for them…

And Nina is so damn funny, with her rants, her love for Star Trek and Harry Potter, and her very vivid daydreams (eheh) :D.

This book is about so much more than just the romance between Nina and Sam, it’s all about accepting who and what you are, and “chasing your crazy”. And OMG, it’s brilliant!

I highly recommend it to everyone. EVERYONE!!!  It’s impossible not to love these characters and their story.
