Hello, welcome back to another Book Traveling Thursdays, which a weekly meme created by Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog. The goal is to share the covers of a book related to that week’s theme, which you can see at the Goodreads group, indicating the original cover, the one of your country, your favorite and least favorite.
This week’s theme is “Everyone loves movies… Choose a movie that is going to be adapted in 2016“. For the first since I started to do the Book Traveling Thursday thread, I’ll use a book that I haven’t read yet, but that I plan to and that I already own. So I’m going with A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness, which will be released later this year.
Original COver:
I absolutely love this cover, especially because it’s the illustrated edition and the one that I proudly own.
COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):
Ohhh, I’m so happy that we already have this book translated to portuguese 😀 and that they kept the original cover!!! The spanish cover is slightly different but I like it a lot, though it doesn’t invoke the “scary” feelings that the original does.
Favorite COVER(s):
As I said, I absolutely love the original cover, it’s perfect! But I also love UK’s first non-illustrated edition… the cover is so gorgeous, it’s mouth-watering! Yeah, it’s a bit on the lighter side of scary, but it’s so brilliant.
LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):
In general, I really like all of the covers for this book, but these are the ones I like less… The italian I’m not sure why I don’t like it, I think it has to do with the drawing and the font. The next two covers are for germany, and the first one’s problem is that “WHY?”, while the last one is almost pretty, it just isn’t my fave.
This reminds me that I need to read that book, SOON, haha! 🙂
ME TOO!!! He has been staring at me every single day!
Awww, well one day we’ll read it, ONE DAY SOON ahah 😀
Really SOON!!!
What is this book about? I’ve seen in so many times everywhere but I’ve never looked into it
to be honest, I have no idea! the blurb is so vague (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/8621462-a-monster-calls) and I’ve been avoiding reviews like they’re the plague. The movie trailer gave nothing away either, so I’m as lost as you 😉
Then why do you want to read it? Hahaha. There’s a lot of hype surrounding this book plus not really knowing what’s it’s about makes me wary
well, a lot of people recommend it, and it’s becoming a movie and it looked intriguing… i want to read it before the movie comes out though 🙂
You should so you can tell me what’s it’s actually about! Haha I’m counting on you Cristina
will do 😉 (I already have it and everything 🙂 )
Awesome!
I love the last of your least favorite covers because from far away it looks like a giant monster face! So smart.
I think I would have liked the non-illustrated UK cover better if it matched the feel of the narrative more, but it didn’t feel as right as some of the other covers.
I saw the monster, I’m just not a big fan of the colours… yeah, I know that about the UK one, but I love it, I would like to own it, it’s just so damn pretty
I wonder why they chose to not include the illustrations. To attract a more adult audience?
i don’t know, but the 2 formats exist. also, if you get the kindle format, it doesn’t come with illustrations either, right?
I thought my Kindle edition had illustrations but I read it two years ago so I could just be remembering wrong.
lol, maybe it did, lol… I’m just assuming here 😛
Hi,
I just wanted to drop by and tell you that I have nominated you for the Liebster Award (https://mylifeasitisines.wordpress.com/2016/01/17/the-liebster-award-nominees-and-11-questions/)
Hope you’re having a great day!
I really like all the covers for this book but the first German one is so random. Why did they have to border the beautiful picture with off white?
no idea, it angers me so much when they do that 😦
I just hope the German readers had access to the actual cover.
SO, SO, SO excited for this movie! A Monster Calls is such a powerful, emotional and heartfelt book and I am so excited to see how they transfer it to the big screen. Thanks for putting this together and, as always, fabulous post! ❤
😀 that’s great to hear about the book, i’ll definitly be reading it son 🙂
There are a great variety of covers! This would’ve been a great theme…
