Anna has everything figured out – she was about to start senior year with her best friend, she had a great weekend job, and her huge work crush looked as if it might finally be going somewhere… Until her dad decides to send her 4383 miles away to Paris. On her own.
But despite not speaking a word of French, Anna finds herself making new friends, including Etienne, the smart, beautiful boy from the floor above. But he’s taken – and Anna might be too. Will a year of romantic near-missed end with the French kiss she’s been waiting for?
I finally did it!!! After owning the book for several months, I finally read Anna and the French Kiss, and I did it in little over 24 hours because it was awesome!
The first thing that really surprised me was how funny the writing was. Most contemporaries are quite light and easy to read, but Stephanie Perkins made this book hilariously funny, and I had such a great time reading it.
I adored all this cast of characters. Two things amazed me in this book, for one the characters acted their age, even with the level of maturity that comes with not having a parent present 24/7, they were still teenagers, learning by trial and error. Secondly, I loved that no one was perfect! And how those little imperfections just made for better characters, like the fact that Étienne was short and afraid of heights… I mean, how cute was that?
Anna and Étienne’s relationship is the epitome of cuteness! They’re adorable :D! I liked how they became friends first and foremost, and how they both helped each other through such hard times. I just wished that some decisions were made a little earlier in the game, but I was pretty happy with the end result.
This was definitly one of the best contemporary romances I’ve read so far, and I can’t wait to read Lola and Isla.
I agree with everything. I loved this book (as you know) and Anna and Étienne are so cute
it’s not like you and Kat got a play by play of me reading the book or anything :P. I might read lola this weekend 😀
Nope. That didn’t happen XD
Good. You know Anna and Étienne appear a lot, right??
I’m kind of hoping they do, I’m not ready to let them go yet. i’m guessing they all live close, it’s in san francisco, right?
yep 🙂
and then if you want, we can start illuminae :D, though I can only read that one at home, because the book is freaking huge 😀
YAY!! You could exercise by taking the book with you. I’m pretty sure it would work XD
oh no, the book is not leaving the house :P, it’s too pretty for the outside world 😛
I know. I’m afraid to even read it
lol, yeah 😛
Aww, I’m so happy you finally read and liked this book, it’s one of THE cutest books, seriously! ❤ I love the quotes you chose!
it so is. i had a smile on my face almost the whole time 😀
I still haven’t read this book. I probably need to though.
it’s such a cute and fast read 😀
I love this book and agree with this post so much! I agree- one of the best things about the characters is their imperfections, I quite liked Lola, but Isla was my favourite 🙂
I have to read Isla and Lola soon 😀
hope you like them 🙂
😉
I love this book! It’s such a cute and fluffy contemporary read<3
yes it it :D, lovely!
This one wasn’t my favorite. The whole cheating aspect kind of bugged me in it. I’m not sure why because I’ve read others that didn’t. I actually liked the next two books better than this one.
the fact that he had a girlfriend bugged me too, not because he had her, but because it took him way too long to break up with her. Even as scared as he was, he should have broken up with her after Anna’s birthday, when she basically tells him how she feels. that’s why I didn’t gave it 5 full stars
Yes! That’s what it was.
I read this book a while ago and i’m so glad you loved it! the quotes you used brought back a familiar feeling of nothing but love for this book, you’re making me want to re-read it! haha 😀 I hope you enjoy Lola and the boy next door just as much, I have feeling you will 🙂
it0s just so cute and mushy and perfect :D. I’ll be reading Lola soon 😀
Hope you enjoy it! I’ll be excited to see what you think 🙂
🙂
J’ai adore ce livre! (I love this book!) Anna and the French Kiss, as you can see, has inspired me to learn French!
I love reading about how others feel about this book! I’m so glad that you loved it! I’m excited to watch as you read LOLA and ISLA! ANNA is my favorite of the series, followed closely by ISLA. I’m so excited for you!! Enjoy!!
thank you :D. I really loved it! I wasn’t expecting it to be so funny ;), I’ll be reading Lola in a few days 🙂
I am so glad you enjoyed it as much as I did during the time. I am so intrigued about how much you’ll like Lola and Isla though … Most people (except me) adore Lola and found Isla disappointing. I liked all the books, but as I’ve mentioned before, my ranking is Anna then Isla and then Lola.
I’ll be starting Lola soon, probably tomorrow, so I’ll keep you and Cátia very well in the loop, because I’ll be tweeting you guys non-stop
Okay cool! I’ll be working on Saturday eve again, but if you are as quick as you were with Anna, maybe you’ll be done by that time hahaha
LOLOL. I’ll have a lot of time tomorrow during the afternoon, but I still need to finish the book I’m currently reading 😛
You are so super fast lately, I don’t doubt you can do it!
I don’t know what’s up with me this month. I’ve been finishing books way way too fast. it might have to do with my kindle app for my cell phone… and I realized I can read ANYWHERE!
That is a great realisation 😀
it doesn’t apply to Anna and Lola and Isla… those are physical copies
You can still read them pretty much anywhere, they are just heavier to carry.
yep, but not too heavy 😛 😀 (I can’t wait to read it!!!)
So true! I’ve dreamt about a couple of people from my past lately, that I really didn’t need or want to see again sometimes. That was more exhausting than restful sleep.
Then again, I dreamt about an Australian firefighter who saved me from drowning … that was nice.
what? the almost drowning thing really happened? people from the past can be a real pain the ass of dreams sometimes 😦
Well, I crashed into a canyon with a body of water down there with a car (I wasn’t the one driving). There was this fireman with an Australian accent who said we had to get out of the car before we sunk too deep and would suffocate or something. I didn’t want to get out of the car though, because for some reason I thought the water was freezing. He said to trust him and grab his hand, he pulled me out and the water was quite warm and nice actually. We all went to get him a drink at a pub afterwards. I dream of weird sh*t ….
ok… you have an overactive imagination o_O, that’s for sure. was the australian fireman HOT?
Can’t remember. Faces get blurry for everyone who isn’t an actor/actress or person I know irl afterwards.
That’s why I hope that I’ll become a great writer one day though.
😀 you keep having those weird dreams 😛
I do! You have no idea! Everything I just told you about the fireman stuff, that was only 1/10 of that dream. It can be so, so exhausting.
what? and you remember that much?
I hardly ever remember mine…
I’ve always been able to remember a lot of my dreams. Sometimes they fade the second I wake up, others stay in the back of my mind for entire days. It varies. Some days I don’t think I dream at all.
how many journals have you filled?
I am not even through one. hahaha
lol
