Now, this was my 5th book by Elodie Nowodazkij, having previously read all the other titles in the Broken Dreams series:

- Always Second Best (Broken Dreams #2)
Love in B Minor is an awesome addition to the series, and it is close to being my favorite of the series, though this one diverges in a big way from the 2 previous stories… beginning with the fact that this book falls within the New Adult genre, due to the age of the protagonists, while the previous stories were well within the Young Adult genre. It is also different when you read about a character that you’re already fond of, and Jen – after a less stellar start in A Summer Like No Other, she really came around in Always Second Best and became super close to Emilia, so I was already fond of her.
I liked the writing style and it’s allusions to ballet, and luckily it wasn’t overdone, which meant that the story flowed well and quickly.
Quick time-out for a huge fangirling moment: Elodie Nowodazkij included references to Villain Complex, the band from Elizabeth Briggs Chasing the Dream series in this book, and I was ecstatic!
I really liked the two main characters and how they were both going through quite similar things, with Jen dealing with the death of her younger sister and Lucas dealing with the death of his best friend, and I really liked how they supported and listened to each other. Their relationship was super cute, though I will admit that Nick and Em are still my favorites. But this is undeniable instalove, and a pretty fast one at that too… I mean, within 3 days of knowing each other they’re way too intense.
Now, this book really surprised me. BIG.TIME. I did not see that coming…. at all, and I still can’t quite wrap my head around what happened.
I did have one thing that bothered me quite a bit, and that was some inconsistencies in the timeline, mostly of some characters’ lives. There was a particular event that technically happened at three different points in time, and not all of them made sense with the rest of the story.
All in all, I really liked this book, it was so not what I was expecting! So, have you read the Broken Dreams series? Why not? Get to it! 😛
