Review:

beingbrooke

From New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, comes a brand new standalone novel. BEING BROOKE is a laugh-out-loud, witty, sexy, and sometimes highly inappropriate romantic comedy about being in love with your best friend. And how much that freaking sucks.

My name is Brooke Barker…
And I’m a freaking disaster.
No, seriously. I’m a college drop-out working a dead-end job, my best friend Carly’s dog gets more action than I do, and I have more bad dates in my diary than there are movie remakes.
Not to mention I’m completely and utterly in love with Cain Elliott.
The problem? He’s in a relationship. With a girl who’s so plastic she makes Barbie cry herself to sleep with jealousy.
The second problem? He’s my best friend.
My shut-up-and-put-on-Harry-Potter, yes-this-is-your-shirt, help-I-have-no-power, crap-I’m-out-of-tampons, kinda best friend.
And that’s all he can be, right?
Right.

I read this book as a buddy read with  Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too, so go here to read her review of this book.

First of all guys, this book was hilarious! I laughed so much while reading it. Heck, I was snorting, in public… it wasn’t pretty. 😀

The writing is brilliant! And that’s what made this book so great, because the main character’s voice was amazingly funny. This was my first book by Emma Hart, so I have no clue if she always writes in this funny way, but I was sold. This was just perfect.

Brooke is such a disaster, and I loved her to bits. I loved that she didn’t like people, and could burn pasta, and that she hated unpacking. I loved that she felt real. And her relationship with Carly and Cain? PERFECT! They were such a unique and fun group of friends. I could have read more of their shenanigans together.

The romance was sweet and I really liked the relationship between Cain and Brooke and how it developed, though for a moment I wanted to slap Brooke a bit, eheh. Still, this was very much based on years of a very strong friendship, in which they knew each other completely, and I’m a sucker for that.

Overall, this was an amazing, hilarious read, with a sweet romance and a very unique main character, with a very unique way of narrating the story. I can only recommend it, because I absolutely loved it. Go read it!

About the Author:

By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies — usually wine — and writes books. Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto- your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love. She likes to be busy — unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.
