Royally Matched (Emma Chase)

2017 NEW ADULT READING CHALLENGE | Hyped Book

Some men are born responsible, some men have responsibility thrust upon them. Henry John Edgar Thomas Pembrook, Prince of Wessco, just got the motherload of all responsibility dumped in his regal lap.

He’s not handling it well.

Hoping to force her grandson to rise to the occasion, Queen Lenora goes on a much-needed safari holiday — and when the Queen’s away, the Prince will play. After a chance meeting with an American television producer, Henry finally makes a decision all on his own:

Welcome to Matched: Royal Edition.

A reality TV dating game show featuring twenty of the world’s most beautiful blue bloods gathered in the same castle. Only one will win the diamond tiara, only one will capture the handsome prince’s heart.

While Henry revels in the sexy, raunchy antics of the contestants as they fight, literally, for his affection, it’s the quiet, bespectacled girl in the corner — with the voice of an angel and a body that would tempt a saint — who catches his eye.

The more Henry gets to know Sarah Mirabelle Zinnia Von Titebottum, the more enamored he becomes of her simple beauty, her strength, her kind spirit…and her naughty sense of humor.

But Rome wasn’t built in a day—and irresponsible royals aren’t reformed overnight.

As he endeavors to right his wrongs, old words take on whole new meanings for the dashing Prince. Words like, Duty, Honor and most of all — Love.

I had been dying to listen to this book since it came out, and I have to say, I wasn’t disappointed. I liked it. Even if I thought it wasn’t quite as awesome was the first…

Once again, the writing was brilliant. It was funny and light, and I loved Henry and and Sarah’s voices. Because I listened to the audio book, I have to say that I had a few issues with the girl narrating Sarah, Andi Arndt, mostly because I felt she didn’t quite pull the accent off, but it was still highly entertaining to hear. Shane East, the guy voicing Henry though, was absolutely fantastic.

I had loved Henry on book 1 already, but I loved him even more on this one. He was such a great person, and I loved how much he grew during this book. Same thing for Sarah, I loved that girl, and she goes through an amazing growth here. I liked the evolution of their relationship a lot, that it started slow, and it started with a big friendship at first, and only then did it go to something more.

But I did have some slight issues with the plot, especially because I felt like there should have been more trust. They had been through so much, that I found it silly that Sarah couldn’t find it in her to even give Henry the benefit of the doubt at some points.

Overall, highly entertaining book, with a great and hilarious storyline and amazing characters. I loved it. I can’t wait for book 3!

We have opposite views on this one. I liked it more than the first. I get what you’re saying about the trust thing, though. I thought it was so much fun listening to this one. Maybe I would have fallen more in love with the first book had I listened to it.
