That smoking hot one-night stand with a former rock star?

Turns out he’s my son’s new music teacher. Oops.

But I didn’t know that the night I met Campbell. All I knew was he played my body the same way he played a guitar — like he owned it.

My libido is still high-fiving me after being self-served for too many years, and we’re both ready for another night or two of fun, especially since we don’t just have chemistry in bed — we connect over everything.

That is, until I learn he’s the man who’ll be coming to my house twice a week to teach my son — the best music lessons money can buy.

Time to turn down the volume on our shenanigans. Only that’s easier said than done.

***

I can rock a guitar solo in front of thousands, I can write chart-topping tunes, and I can absolutely stop thinking about my student’s mother naked.

After all, I’m a single parent too, and I know what it’s like to put your kid first. That’s what I do every damn day.

Trouble is, now that I’ve had Mackenzie, it’s hard — and I do mean hard — to stop wanting her. Harder too when I get to know her, and learn she’s an awesome mom, a great friend, and, oh yeah, she happens to get along perfectly with my daughter.

All we have to do is set some rules. No dating, no nookie when the kids are around, and no one gets hurt.

It’s all working out beautifully. Until we start breaking the rules, one by one.

Making music with her in the bedroom is easy. But will we be more than just a real good time when the music stops?

I was expecting to LOVE this book, because it’s Lauren Blakely and the characters are both single parents, however, that was something about the writing that didn’t completely pull me in.

Blakely is an author that hardly ever fails, but this book felt different. Her writing felt somewhat off. The best way I can think to describe it is “too abrupt”. With that said, the characters were wonderful, and I can’t wait to read about the rest of the brothers.

There were some parts where I felt like Blakely could have digged deeper, and I wanted to see more interactions between Campbell, Mackenzie, Sam and Kyle, because the few times they were all together, it felt right, and I wanted to see that explored a bit more.

To summarize, I felt like the story was great, but the writing wasn’t all I hoped it would be, and I felt like it could have gone deeper at times. Still, good book by Blakely, and I’m excited to read the rest of this series.

Cover Reveal: Fireworks by Sarina Bowen

Guys, check the amazing cover for Fireworks, the 6th book in the True North series, Fireworks.

Skye Copeland is on paid leave from her broadcasting job after accidentally drawing a wiener on the traffic map.

Let that sink in. Like it’s her fault the traffic pattern created a perfect schlong?

Skye isn’t laughing. She needs this job. And that’s the only reason she’s willing to chase down a story in her least favorite place — that hell on earth known as Vermont.

A quick trip. In and out. Much like – never mind. She can sneak into the town that once tried to break her, get the story and slide back into the good graces of her producer. Easy peasy.

But things go sideways the moment she steps over the county line. Her stepsister is running from a violent drug dealer. And the cop on the case is none other than Benito Rossi, the man who broke Skye’s teenage heart.

His dark brown eyes still tear her apart. And even as she steels herself to finally tell him off after twelve years, the old fireworks are still there.

Things are about to go boom.

FIREWORKS is up for pre-order at:
