It has been months since my last Wandering About post, but I finally had new photos to share with you guys, so here’s a new post! I went to Madeira last weekend with my sister and a couple of friends of ours. Madeira is a¬†Portuguese island and let me tell you guys: it’s gorgeous! Let me show you…

Wandering About: Casablanca (2013/14)

wandering about

Hey! I haven’t done this in awhile, and today’s will be super super fast. For the New Year’s from 2013 to 2014, me and my mom went to Casablanca, Morocco. It was a gorgeous place, and it had probably the best food I’ve ever eaten! It was an amazing place to go, and that I wouldn’t mind going again. I didn’t take much pictures, but here are some so you can have an idea of the architecture of the place.

Have you ever been? Do you want to?

Wandering About: Death Valley, Palm Springs and Calico – USA (2006)

wandering about

Hey guys! Today I’m sharing some photos of a small leg of my trip to the USA in 2006. In my first time in the US, I went to Los Angeles and Las Vegas, with a detour to Palm Springs. After leaving LA we stopped by The Death Valley, and it’s just gorgeous and big!

Then we saw the Badwater Basin.

And the Artist’s Palette, amazing colors!

Then Palm Springs is just an amazing little city, and I loved it there :D. Also, crazy weather we got there! It started hailing when we were shopping in Palm Springs – we were wearing flip-flops…

Finally, when we were on our way to Las Vegas, we stopped near Calico, at an amazing place which I totally forgot what it was called, because it was 10 years ago!!! lol.

I really enjoyed this trip ūüėČ , I hope you enjoyed the photos too.

Wandering About: London (2013)

wandering about

Back in 2013 I want to London for a week. In a stroke of luck, I was able to string a conference and the Doctor Who 50th anniversary in a single week. It was pretty cool how that worked out. For my first 2 days in London I attended a conference celebrating the 30th anniversary of my field of research, and I loved it, because being that kind of celebration, we had really big wigs in there :D.

If you were following me back in 2013 – a.k.a, the first year of my blog – you might know that I actually posted everyday about the trip. You can check it out here:

So today, I’m just posting my favorite pictures of this trip :), but check out the links above for a blow by blow of the trip.

If you don’t know by now, London is my favorite place on Earth. Yeah, it’s cold and wet and grey and I love it. I never feel more at home as I do when I’m wandering through London. I’ve been there a few times since I was 11 yo, and it’s always amazing and I always miss it.

I also went for the first time to the Harry Potter Studio Tour, and I loved it. I’ve been there since, but the place is totally worth it, it’s truly magical.

And finally I went to the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary, and that was totally bonkers. I never went to a con or anything like that, so this was different. I watched the 50th Anniversary Special Episode there, and wow, that was definitly something!

Wandering About: Rome (2009/2010)

wandering about

Hello. This week I’ll share some photos from my trip to Rome, from the New Year from 2009 to 2010. I’m an unusual 30 something, because since forever I tend to spend my new year’s eve and day with my mom and grandma. It always happened like that, and I kind of like it – I don’t like crowds or anything like that. In 2009 my mom wanted to go to Rome, and my grandmother was still well enough to travel, so we decided to go, the 3 of us.¬†I’ll admit, I love traveling with my mom, but my grandmother is a whole other business… I love her, but we clash a lot. A LOT!

Rome is a gorgeous city. It was my first time in Italy and I really loved it. We only stayed for a few days, so there wasn’t much time to see things properly and explore everything we wanted, but we did see some pretty cool places :).

By the way, I’m a sucker for ruins of any kind :D. The¬†Colosseum was pretty cool :D, and so was the¬†Roman Forum.

I would definitly like to go back there and explore some places. We didn’t have the chance to go to the Vatican museum or go to any museum for that matter. One thing that it’s absolutely great there is the food…. AMAZING!

So, have you been to Rome? What did you think?

Wandering About: San Francisco (2014)

wandering about

Because I’m currently reading Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins, which action takes place in San Francisco, I thought it would be a good time to share a few pictures of the city, from when I was there almost 2 years ago.

The trip included a lot more than San Francisco… we went to Las Vegas, then LA and then we went by car to San Francisco, stopping a few times along the way. I’ll share the photos of the other places at some point for sure, but I was already blogging at the time, so I actually wrote posts about that trip:¬†USA 2014: Las Vegas;¬†USA 2014: LA and the Central Coast (California)¬†and¬†USA 2014: San Francisco.

In my post about San Francisco – that you can check out here – I talked about how I felt at home there. I did. San Francisco made its way to my Top 5 cities I want to live in, and it has hold its spot. I want to go back there, and each time I read a bout set there, or watch a show or a movie, this feeling intensifies.

Incredibly, SFO has some things that remind me of Lisbon, with the high hills, cable carts and so much water… not to mention that the Golden Gate Bridge is very similar to our own Ponte 25 de Abril. But San Francisco has a certain freedom feel about it. I had no trouble walking around, I love all the shops and restaurants,¬†some that were open 24/7. It felt like a more intimate New York…
