Book Traveling Thursdays: A Book With Music

btt

Hello, welcome back to another Book Traveling 168709Thursdays, which a weekly meme created by Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog. The goal is to share the covers of a book related to that week’s theme, which you can see at the Goodreads group, indicating the original cover, the one of your country, your favorite and least favorite.

This week’s theme is “Everyone loves music. Choose a book where music is a big part of the story“. After perusing my read shelf on Goodreads, I realized that I read a lot of books with music… that only have one cover. Eheh! So, I’m using Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover.

Original COver:

I love the original US cover. It’s very “CoHo”.

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

This book is not out in Portugal yet, but it is in Spain. I’m not my favorite cover, but it’s not the worse either.

Favorite COVER(s):

I really like the German cover – I’m blaming the pinks and purples. The I love love love the original US cover.

LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):

I really don’t like these covers. The Dutch one reminds me of a few others NA books, the Indonesian seems so dark and the Polish… yeah… i don’t like it.

Book Traveling Thursdays: A Favorite Sequel

Hello, welcome back to another Book Traveling 168709Thursdays, which a weekly meme created by Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog. The goal is to share the covers of a book related to that week’s theme, which you can see at the Goodreads group, indicating the original cover, the one of your country, your favorite and least favorite.

This week’s theme is “Because some sequels are better than the first book choose your favorite sequel“. I chose to highlight Did I Mention I Need You? from the DIMILY series by Estelle Maskame, because I loved the second book of this series, even though it broke my heart a bit.

Original COver:

This is the UK cover, and while it’s not ugly, it is not my favorite either.

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

The book is not out in Portugal yet, but it came out in spain a few months ago, and it did so in spanish and catalan, so above you can see the 2 covers.

Favorite COVER(s):

I love the US covers, love love love them. I like them so much, that I want to own the physical copies one day… soon.

LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):

Well, it’s not like I hate these covers, but the Polish and Lithuanian covers are my least favorites, even though they’re similar to the UK one, they do have some differences, which makes me like them a little less than the original one.

Book Traveling Thursdays: A Favorite Debut Novel

This week’s theme is “Every author has to start from somewhere. Choose your favorite debut novel“. I’m doing something I didn’t want to do, but I have to! I’m using Attachments by Rainbow Rowell for this one. I LOVED this book, and it’s my favorite contemporary by Rowell, however I did use it before for the BTT, and you can check it out here if you want.

Original COver:

I’m considering the beije cover as the original, though technically the pink one was released first… by a couple of weeks. I don’t like the pink one though… no no no.

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

This book was finally released in Portugal and Spain. I’m not the biggest fan of the portuguese cover, though it could have been worse, I guess. I love that the Spanish edition kept the amazing design of the original one.

Favorite COVER(s):

I love these 3 covers! The original one from the US is amazing, I love it to bits. Then I find the indonesian cover possibly the prettiest of them all… I mean, look at that! Awesome! And finally, and to my great surprise, the russian is amazing as well! I love that they used the original theme and added the characters. Great.

LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):

I have the UK covers actually, and I hate it. Then there’s that awful Turkish cover… no no no.

Gemina (The Illuminae Files #2) Cover Reveal

coverreveal

I just started Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and I’m already so excited about the second book of the series, Gemina. Look how gorgeous this cover is!!! (you can find the original article here)

From bestselling author duo Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff comes the second edge-of-your-seat installment in the trilogy that reviewers are calling “stylistically mesmerizing” and “out-of-this-world-awesome.”

While Kady and Ezra are fighting for their lives aboard the Alexander, Jump Station Heimdall is facing a different wave of the Beitech assault. Meet Hanna and Nik: she’s the station captain’s pampered daughter, while Nik runs with Heimdall’s dangerous black market scene. When an elite team of Beitech assassins targets Heimdall, Nik and Hanna are thrown together to fight the enemy–and the assassins are just the beginning. With deadly alien creatures slithering through air ducts, a second fleet of attack drones headed their way, and a phenomenon threatening the wormhole near the space station, Hanna and Nik aren’t just critical to the Kerenza fight–they may hold the fate of the very universe in their hands.

Book Traveling Thursdays: A Book That Made Me Cry

This week’s theme is “Crying is not always bad. Choose a book that made you ugly cry“. I’m a crier. I cry while reading. I get too emotional and do weird faces and cry, whether I’m in private or not. The book I chose didn’t make me cry too much, but it broke my heart more than many who have did. So, for this week, it will be Hopeless by Colleen Hoover.

Original COver:

I love the image they used on the cover, I’m just not 100% on title. I prefer the version that only has it once, instead of smearing all over the cover.

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

Oh, look at that! The book has been translated to both portuguese and spanish :D, and I’m glad they used the original cover, though I do prefer the portuguese version to the spanish one, because the colours are a bit more toned down.

Favorite COVER(s):

Both my favorite versions are from the UK. The first is just the original with a different placement for the title and author, and I like it much better than the original version. The second one I love because it’s black and gold and reminds me of the sky…

LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):

There are some bad covers for this book, but I think that the Dutch, French and Slovak are definitly the worst… I mean, neither of these girls reminds me of Sky… nope.

Book Traveling Thursdays: A Book I’ll Re-Read This Year

This week’s theme is “Because some books stay with us forever!! Choose a book you want to re-read in 2016“. This is it! I’m finally using Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, because this one and Fangirl are the only ones I’m super sure I’ll re-read this year, and I already did Fangirl a few weeks back :D.  I’ll warn you though, there aren’t many covers for this amazing book, so this will be a bit empty.

Original COver & Favorite Cover:

I absolutely love the original cover, it’s such a smart cover for this book :D. I like the hardcover a bit better than the paperback, because the red is more vibrant, but I love the overall design.

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

Yeah… no cover for either Portugal or Spain… =/

LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):

As I mention, there aren’t many different covers for this book, so the ones I like least are the german and the dutch editions. The german is pretty, but I don’t know… it doesn’t speak “Simon” to me. On the other hand, the dutch does speak “Simon”, but that’s mainly because it has an oreo on the cover :P, I just don’t like it much.

A Court of Mist and Fury Cover Reveal

coverreveal

Guys, it’s here, it’s here!!! We finally have the cover for A Court of Mist and Fury by the marvelous Sarah J. Maas.

 tumblr_o0y5mtFTlE1u0il5ao2_1280    tumblr_o0y5mtFTlE1u0il5ao3_1280

The first is the US cover, and the second is the UK one. Which one do you like best? I love the fact that the US one shows her tattooed hand 😀 (it basically calls to the property of Rhysand), and I also love that it has more details all around. But the UK one, the one I’ll get, has the thorns!!!

Either way, I love it. Well done Bloomsbury.

Book Traveling Thursdays: A Book With a Kind Character

This week’s theme is “Tomorrow is World Kindness Day! Choose a book that has a kind character“. I wracked my brains about this one, and decided to go with one of my favorite kind guys from all of the books I ever read, and that is Jem Carstairs, and the book I chose is Clockwork Prince (Cassandra Clare).

Original COver:

I have to admit that when I first looked at this cover, I was a bit dismayed: this is nothing like I imagine my Jem! Still, the cover has grown on me a bit, I just wished they had picked their models slightly better.

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

Oh wow, look at that! This book has a portuguese, spanish and catalan editions! The Portuguese one is very similar to the original cover, but the colouring is a bit lighter and the contrasts are sharper. The spanish edition is exactly like the original, but the catalan went a different way entirely… is that supposed to be the Mortal Sword? o_O

Favorite COVER(s):

I’ll admit that I think I like the new Infernal Devices covers a bit more than the originals, or maybe it’s a tie… not sure. I like that this one exposes Jem’s passions and his vulnerability. Then I kind of like the slovak edition, i like the mechanic creature in it, it’s captivating.

LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):

This week, the worst covers are the Turkish, Polish and Italian ones. The Turkish is just off, the face doesn’t even seem to belong to that body, and who is that supposed to be? Jem? I don’t think so… Then, for the Polish edition, they went for someone I’m assuming is supposed to be Tessa, but this cover would be more fitting of an historical romance than anything else. And finally, the italian… the guy is hot, I’ll give it that, but I don’t like the overall theme, or lack there of it.

Book Traveling Thursdays: Book-Movie That I Enjoyed

This week’s theme is “Everyone hates Hollywood making a mess out of their favorite book. Choose a book that got made into a movie you actually enjoyed“. For this one I’m going with Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. In general, I think that this trilogy was super well adapted, so any book would be ok here.

Original Over:

These are the 2 original covers.

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

Covers in Portugal, Spain and Catalonia. In truth, we all have all the covers in existence, lol, but these are nice.

FAVORITE COVER(s):

My favorites are the Luxury Edition and the black cover edition. I like the minimalists covers, they are the prettiest in my opinion.

LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):

These countries went out of their way to produce some horrific covers. Here are the Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Arabic and Russian editions, what to you think of them? Can you explain that last one? Because that looks life a fantasy series cover and not dystopian…

The Rose & The Dagger: Cover Reveal

coverreveal

Today the cover for The Rose & The Dagger, the sequel to The Wrath & The Dawn by Renée Ahdieh, was revealed (you can find the original article here). The book is set to come out May 3rd, 2016, and I honestly can’t wait. The ending of the first one left me completely heartbroken and I need the sequel… now!

What do you guys think? When I first saw it, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the blue, but now it has grown on me and I think the cover is gorgeous, just like the first one 😀 .
