The Flash: Fast Enough

Let me start by saying that I was consciously putting off watching this episode because I knew it was going to be heartbreaking and then I would have to go through a lot of months without this show, and I’m still not ready for that!

the-flash-fast-enough_article_story_large

The Flash did everything right this season, but that finale, oh boy, that was something else.

  • First of all, the acting. This cast took it out of the park, especially Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Rick Cosnett, Carlos Valdes and John Wesley Shipp. When the episode ended, I was all tears.
  • This episode shows so well that in this show (or at least in this season), the focus was much more on Barry and his fathers, than on Barry and his love interests, and that is amazing. More so because Barry and his dads are AMAZING!

2_bd99f43128

  • Each time Barry has a scene with Joe it’s probably gonna be my favorite of that episode – they’re just that good. But on this one, it was the Barry/Henry scene that made me lose it completely. What Henry tells his son is just so profound, he rather be in jail than see his son become something less than what he is… come on, that’s love!
  • But Joe is not behind, he rather lose Barry as a son, in order for him to grow up with both his parents… more tears – what was the game plan here, Flash writers?!
  • I loved Dr. Stein on this episode, how determinant he was for almost everything. I liked especially of his talk with Eddie!!! I’m looking forward to see more of him in Legends of Tomorrow.

  • Cisco and Wells… I could watch more of them. I’m kind of hoping that now that the Reverse Flash has ceased to exist, that it somehow means that the real Harrison Wells never died, and that somehow he and Cisco might bond. But that’s asking a lot, because if they go there, they would have to erase and change a lot of things, and I guess that’s more of a parallel timeline or something like that. Though Tom Cavanagh is confirmed for season 2, so…

  • Cisco is on his way to becoming Vibe, while Caitlin is seen as Killer Frost when Barry is trying to create the wormhole.

flash-killer-frost

  • I was really ok with Eddie taking control of his destiny and going to get the girl – though we knew it was doomed from the start. But he was right, the universe in which Iris bears the name Allen, is not their universe, so in reality they could have happened.
  • If it wasn’t of course for the fact that Eddie needed to stop existing… he had to go and be a hero… I will miss him dearly!!! But ultimately he did what he had to do to completely erase the Reverse Flash. Well done… you were a real hero Eddie.
  • There’s one thing that I’m not 100% convinced about: Ronnie and Caitlin. I love Caitlin. I like Ronnie. I do not like them together! I did not like that wedding. At all! Sorry…

The_Flash_S01_finale_TVGM-1431462169

  • Grant Gustin is amazing! Have I said that already?! This show has been so great because he inputs a heart to Barry and the Flash, while maintaining a comedic side… He has been wonderful and should truly be commended by the success of this series.
  • Oh… and that scene with Nora Allen?! WOW!

Oh… I’m gonna miss you Flash!

The Flash: The Nuclear Man

Last week Barry had to try to manage having a personal life, that is dating Linda, and his duties as the Flash.

flash-season-1-episode-13-linda-barry

Things did not always go alright for him, poor guy, on the first date he managed by super-speeding to the crime places and then back again, before she could notice that he was gone. The second date, however, was slightly trickier. She showed up more than willing to take things to the next level, but Barry, worried how his speed might affect everything and then getting a distressed call from Caitlin, had to bail on her, while trying to get dress, talking and leaving at the same time… stumbling a lot. Linda was more or less OK with it, until Iris told her that Barry was still hung up on someone, and that was why he was dodging her. Linda got it, and set Barry free… he did not want to be set free though, and soon was asking Iris to butt out because he doesn’t has those feelings for her anymore, and was asking Linda for a second chance, which she gave him.

the-flash-22the-nuclear-man22-1-e1423679685605

Joe asks Cisco help to gather information on the murder of Barry’s mother. Soon they find that the speedsters left some blood behind, with 2 distinct genetic profiles. That’s when Joe drops the bomb: he wants Cisco to run it against Harrison Wells DNA! Cisco is appalled and refuses, but soon, after Wells suggests something unimaginable, Cisco runs the profiles, finding one match… not to Wells, but to Barry. There’s more, the proteins in the blood indicate that it did not belong to young Barry, but an adult one! So, as we have always suspected, The Flash (adult) was present in the night that his own mother was killed… time-travelling plot begins!

fla113a0256bjpg-294c4a_960w

Caitlin and Dr. Wells try to find and help Ronnie/Dr. Stein a.k.a. Firestorm, finding out that he’s unstable and in risk of causing a nuclear explosion (hence the title). Dr. Wells’s response could not be clearer: they should kill him before he can go off. Cisco is shocked, but Caitlin isn’t standing for it, remind him that she has lost Ronnie once already, she’s not about to lose him another time. More than that, they’re talking about 2 lives. Dr. Wells tries do come up with a solution, but Ronnie/Stein has already left, in order to protect the people in the city. Caitlin and Barry go to him in the hopes that the device that Wells created works… it doesn’t and Firestorm blows up…

So, Linda and Barry is a go, Iris is super jealous, Firestorm blew up (but we know from the next week promo that both men survive), Caitlin will have her man back… why am I not excited about this?! Don’t get me wrong, I like Ronnie, not sure I like Ronnie and Caitlin though…

This week on TV (like, Monday and Tuesday, 2-3 Feb)

The whole week was getting a bit big, so, here’s Monday and Tuesday’s shows:

2-3_feb

Jane the Virgin (Chapter 12):

jane-the-virgin

This week Jane and Rafael visited Luisa in the “nut house”; Rogelio was fired from his telenovela, Milos finally found Petra and we finally learned the identity of “Sin Rostro”.

I have to admit that I love Rafael and Jane together, I love how normal their relationship is. Jaime Camil’s Rogelio is just amazing, it’s impossible not to love him, he totally broke my heart while he was dealing with the loss of his job and the fact that his daughter finally called him “dad”. Petra and Milos working together was just amazing and the fact that Jane was actually her shoulder to cry on. Finally, did you see the identity of “Sin Rostro” come?! I totally thought it was Petra’s mom… I was so mistaken!!!

“You can’t have The Passions of Santos without Santos! Then it’s just Passions, and that show failed!”

Sleepy Hollow (Spellcaster):

katrina-sleepy-hollow-spellcaster1

A lot of witchcraft going on… So, Henry is alive and well and ran into some conscious problems, but not anymore… and what’s more, Frank is working with Henry and they’re planning something nasty!

I still don’t like Katrina, and now, with the white eyes and messed up things going on, she’ll definitely turn bad at some point.

Also, how’s Ichabod and Katrina’s marriage?! They’re living under the same roof, but are they even having sex?!

Castle (I, Witness):

NATHAN FILLION, STANA KATIC

Poor Castle had it rough this week. After an old school classmate asks for his help as a PI, determining if he’s having an affair, and ends up being a witness for a crime that did not happen… he really had a tough time.

As entertaining as it is this whole PI thing from Castle, when does he get back to the precinct?!

Broadchurch (Episode 5):

Broadchurch_series_two_finds_its_stride_thanks_to_David_Tennant_and_Olivia_Colman

Wow, it still amazes me how they are keeping up the quality of this show. I still have no idea who the Sandbrook killer really is, I think Tom know more about Danny’s death than he has let on.

I’m so scared that Alec is not going to survive this season… he looked really bad this last episode.

Ellie Miller is my hero! “I’m gonna solve this!”, that’s the spirit girl!

Marvel’s Agent Carter (The Iron Ceiling):

Agent-Carter--Iron-Ceiling_article_story_large

Why aren’t more people watching this show? It’s amazing! This week we got the Howling Commandos back, Thompson finally saw Peggy’s worth, while Sousa started to connect the mysterious blond to Peggy Carter.

It was great to see “Dum Dum” Dugan again and to see how the Howling commandos treat Peggy, so differently from the people from her own squad. They respect and admire her, and view her as an equal sometime, and as a superior most of the times.

Dottie… oh man, Dottie… she’s a Black Widow right? Same type of training and everything… it’s scary!

Forever (Hitler on the Half-Shell):

8892ec3ff57f4559c5903489f2b6adb1

I really enjoyed this episode, though how can they be somehow “pardoning” Adam, after the way he had just killed that guy in the container, is beyond me.

Supernatural (About a Boy):

supernatural

Mini-Dean (Dylan Everett) was just the best, almost as good as real-Dean (Jensen Ackles), he nailed it … I mean: “My voice is weird and I’ve got like nine zits and I have zero control over this. I mean, it’s up, it’s down, it’s up for no reason!”… Hilarious!

I love that they got Mrs Patmore from Downton Abbey to play the Witch, she was marvelous!

And Dean (mini and big) liking Taylor Swift?! OMG, I laughed so hard at that!

The Flash (Crazy for You):

the-flash-image-malese-jow-crazy-for-you

Caitlin and Barry coming to the conclusion that they have no personal life, going up for drinks and karaoke, and then Barry not only holding her hair while she throws up, but putting her on her pajamas, getting her to bed and staying with her until she fell asleep?! Cutest thing ever!

It’s great that they both decided to move on, but was it just me, or Caitlin was a tiny bit sad that Barry had a date with another girl? Speaking of Linda, how bad was that burn Iris?! Right? Is she going to realize now, that the guy is dating, that she might have had feelings for him all along?

The thing that surprised me the most was that fact that Cisco was kind of a badass… he’s got some moves.

I love that Barry’s dad figured it out that he’s The Flash, and managed to tell him how proud he is of him and for him to be careful, without actually telling him that he knows. Barry has the best dads!

Flash and Arrow and damn… I was surprised this week.

It’s always incredible when a 22/24 episode per season show can still pull the rug out from under you on the middle of the season. Be warned, they will be spoilers!

the-flash_banner

Lets start with The Flash and that amazing episode. The villain was intriguing, Cisco and Caitlin were hilarious and sweet and funny (as usual). But Wells, oh man, Harrison Wells!!! We had all figured it out a while back that he was the man on the yellow suit, but now he’s not only gazing at his suit, he’s speeding. Oh yeah people, Wells is running (Flash running) and leaving behind a red lighting. But something is wrong though, he’s not able to maintain the speed and in fact, for a moment there, he’s not even able to stand up. This beg the question, is he really the “Reverse Flash” we saw a couple of episodes ago? Or they are in fact the same person at different moments in time?!

tumblr_niya3hBiQ71qm6yoeo1_500

Damn it, it looks like The Flash writers really know what they’re doing. Perfect moments come whenever Joe and Barry share the same space, their relationship is just magic – and Joe might just be my favourite character on this show. Even Iris was pretty OK this week.

Arrow-Season-3-Wallpaper

Now lets move on to Arrow and Team Arrow shines one more. For me this episode really brought Roy and Laurel up.

It’s so amazing to see Roy be a man, something he’s not often allowed the chance to be, being the youngest of them all, but here he helps Laurel come to her own, he stands up for Thea and wow, his fight choreographies are just the best.

Laurel Lance, wow, and I never thought I would say this, but wow. They are doing it so right. They are showing how not like her sister she is, but how she deserves a chance to prove that she’s capable. I’m glad she gets her ass kicked and is almost shot, and falls when she tries to jump, and that suit, ugly as hell, but hey, by the end of the episode I couldn’t help but like her a bit more (which in all honesty, was not hard at all).

Felicity finally came around, realizing that the heroes fight for those they love who are still alive and goes to help not only Team Arrow, but Ray Palmer as well. I did not like that closeness between them when she was patching his wounds, though I admit, Ray Palmer is really growing on me (and I would totally watch his would be spin-off).

Oliver is standing! Oh yeah! Did Tatsu really just treated him with traditional medicine and penicillin? And could have happen that as made Maseo leave his wife? Was he somewhat responsible for their child’s death? Just trying to guess here.

Well done Thea, though I do not approve of her relationship with her father, I did like to see her standing her ground and lecturing him, it was nice for a change to see how grown up she’s gotten. And what about that last scene, hey?! So her DJ/Wannabe Boyfriend is a member of the League?! I did not see that one coming!

The fighting on this episode was insanely good. Between the Arsenal/Black Canary team up and the flashbacks to Hong Kong with Maseo and Tatsu and Oliver fighting, and Tatsu and Maseo killing those League members like it was nothing… brutal! Amazing!

The Flash: The Man in the Yellow Suit

The Flash has reached its winter finale and it was awesome. Finally Barry comes face to (blurry) face with the man that killed his mother and learns that he’s no match for the Man in the Yellow Suit or Reverse Flash.

The-Flash_612x380

  • Grant Gustin deserves a lot of credit for his work on this episode… his anguish when he went to see his father in prison to tell him that he had failed him, was heartbreaking.
  • More and more convinced that The Reverse Flash here comes from the future “we have been doing this for a long time and I’m always one step ahead” – clearly he has been doing it a long time with The Flash, just not this very young Flash.
  • I want a friend like Cisco. Even doubtful of what his friend is telling him, he goes with Caitlin and the comforts her and protects her…

fla109a0013bjpg-3ba10c_960w

  • I do not love Iris, but how differently could she have reacted?! But seriously now, how did she not know? At least that is out of the way and they didn’t drag it for long. Wondering how she’ll feel when he eventually starts dating someone else.
  • The Reverse Flash does not harm Eddie… wonder why…

tumblr_ngcmi2vZhR1sdv4q6o1_500

  • Firestorm can fly?! WOW!!! Still, his introduction was done without any resolution to the matter.

  • Joe and Barry are my perfect father/son on tv…
  • Oh Cisco, my perfect nerd… you know more than most people… my guess is that you’re totally right, on that fateful night there were two speedsters on the Allen house: The Reverse and the Original, and that’s how little Barry ends up outside the house.
  • The parallels between Barry and Wells and The Flash and The Reserve Flash were very well played.
  • So, is Harrison Wells the Reverse Flash?! I have no doubt that he, as the RF, comes from the future, the questions is that they might not come from the same point in the future. Either the Reserve Flash is Eddie (a long way from now) and Harrison is his descendant, and that is how he has inherited the ring and suit (and abilities, maybe?!), or (again) Harrison is descendent from Eddie but he himself is the Reserve Flash, but his version on the present is actually older than the RF on this episode. Did that make any sense?! Hope so… it sounded a lot more coherent in my mind.

The Flash & Arrow epic crossover!

Let me start by saying that it’s pretty cool that we have two superheroes who live in the same universe… that means we can have more moments like these!!! The crossover event was pretty amazing, very cool scenes, witty dialog, a bit of stabbing at each world and methods, but most of all a realization that these two guys are really friends and that’s just super!

The Flash – Flash vs. Arrow:

tumblr_ng1mki97TK1qh0nwmo2_500

  • “Bad Barry” is kind of cool, at least he tells what he’s thinking, which is something real Barry could do a little more often.
  • Felicity’s clothes on fire – PRICELESS!!!
  • Why Oliver would win? Because he looked at Wells and thought that something was wrong with him!!!
  • Diggle’s reaction to Barry’s speed was fantastic: “Does he does everything really fast?”. I just love Diggle so much!

tumblr_ng1cg7Sh661tus7o2o1_250tumblr_ng1cg7Sh661tus7o2o2_250tumblr_ng1cg7Sh661tus7o2o3_250tumblr_ng1cg7Sh661tus7o2o5_250 tumblr_ng1cg7Sh661tus7o2o6_250tumblr_ng1cg7Sh661tus7o2o4_250

  • I’m glad Iris “broke up” with The Flash, that was sounding way too much like the Lois/Superman dynamic, with Iris being too annoying for that.
  • That said, her crush on Ollie was cute, too bad she said it to Barry (poor guy), who already has her boyfriend to worry about.
  • Felicity reiterating how she and Barry will never happen… we all got it =/…
  • The way that Felicity and Ollie acted throughout the whole episode… they looked like a couple, she can even manage to get the reactions she wants on cue. And his smile… ohhhh…

tumblr_inline_ng0r62r2J41rmukpk tumblr_ng127zmgGw1sr6d2do1_500

  • At least now we know why Eddie Thawne will go against the Flash…
  • The big surprise of the episode was the reaparence of Ollie’s baby mamma, right? I can only assume that she’ll be back sometime in the second half of the season…

Arrow – The Brave and the Bold:

tumblr_ng1mki97TK1qh0nwmo1_500

  • Bart Allen!!! Well, Captain Lance, are you foreshadowing the Impulse, Flash nr 4, or was it just a really cool reference to make?! I go with the third ;-).
  • Wasn’t that the best possible way to introduce Flash in this episode?!

tumblr_ng1amrjApz1tgcum7o1_400

  • Lyla and Oliver bonding is just the best! Even if it’s how if you’re fighting some kind of extreme people, you have to able to go to extremes yourself – ARGUS and Amanda Waller in every single word.
tumblr_ng18gqLuPw1sjxzs0o1_400tumblr_ng18gqLuPw1sjxzs0o2_400tumblr_ng18gqLuPw1sjxzs0o3_400
  • Cisco is the ultimate fanboy. And extremely helpful, he and Felicity make one hell of a team.

tumblr_ng1g8lShQT1qbvapjo1_500tumblr_ng1mkoBlqU1qa69wso1_400tumblr_ng1mkoBlqU1qa69wso4_400

tumblr_inline_ng1vlsjpP01sbnovl

  • Doesn’t Thea think it’s kind of weird that her ex-boyfriend hangs out all the time with her brother and her brother’s ex-secretary and bodyguard? Shouldn’t she know a little better? Because there’s no way that the Roy from when she met him would be friends with those people.
  • I love the lingering and meaningful looks between Ollie and Felicity and I was so glad that Ray was not on this week’s episode.

tumblr_inline_ng1vudy1u21sbnovltumblr_inline_ng1vusYAvI1sbnovl

  • One can hope that after the big lesson Barry taught Ollie that he might relax and put Oliver Queen in first place sometime, even if it’s only for a bit.
  • Pretty cool gesture of the “Arrow Team”, to have a place for Barry to hang up his suit when he’s in town… we hope that’s sooner rather than later.
  • Cisco is also kind of amazing, tweaking up Ollie’s suit like that, but keeping the hood because of sentimental value… Oliver thanks you so much Felicity!

tumblr_inline_ng1vw0DekJ1sbnovl tumblr_inline_ng1vwguxRG1sbnovl

  • Diggle and Lyla are going to get married again!!!! After 3 previous references of them not being married, that was kind of predictable, but awesome all the same.

tumblr_inline_ng1vr7lRE61sbnovltumblr_inline_ng1vss3Ura1sbnovl

  • Laurel who? For a character that was supposed to be the female lead, she’s irrelevant nowadays.
  • I like that Oliver points out to Barry that Starling is very different from Central city. Later Caitlin and Cisco ponder over why the methods are different – because they deal with metahumans, which makes it less real, while in Starling City, they deal with “normal” people, who are just bad.
  • Barry, to do the Salmon Ladder right, you have to be shirtless… Flash costume doesn’t count…
