12 Days of Christmas Book Tag (2016 Edition)

12days

Hello guys! It’s Christmas time, so why not another book tag to celebrate it? Once again, I’m recycling a tag from last year, and you can read the 2015 edition here. So, let’s do this! By the way… I’m only using books that I’ve read during the year of 2016!

On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree.

The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

Ugly Love was definitly one of my favorite books of 2016, so it deserves to be here.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves.

Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

OMG, how can I pick just one?! Yeah… I kind of can… Jamie and Wes all the way!

On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Three French Hens.

In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

I didn’t read many trilogies this year… and even using the True North series is cheating, because there will be more books, but what the hell… this series is just amazing!

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds.

Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

My favorite New Adult series is definitly the Off Campus series by Elle Kennedy. These boys are everything!

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings.

One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

AIDEN from Illuminae for sure!

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying.

Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

I love the world building in The Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare, and the world of A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming.

Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

CLIVE from Wallbanger most definitly! Clive is the most wonderful and sassy cat ever, and he’s a delight to read about.

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking.

Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

Have you read Carry On? Simon sure talks a LOT about food… eheh.

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing.

Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

I love these two ladies! Reese from Price of a Kiss by Linda Kage is just wonderful. And Kestrel from The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski kicks some ass… with her brains.

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping.

How about your favourite leading lad?

I love Mark Watney from The Martian, he’s a hoot. And Taco from Anything You Want grew on me a lot… I love that boy. And Solomon from Highly Illogical Behaviour is just plain amazing.

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping.

What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

I loved these 3 books that have a music theme: Tone Deaf by Olivia Rivers, Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover and Stay Until We Break by Mercy Brown.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming.

Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

I couldn’t do just one…

I’m done!

I tag EVERYONE who wants to do this one 😉 HAVE FUN and happy hollidays!!!!

Dashing Through the Snow Book Tag (2016 edition)

dashing

Hey people! I don’t know if I’m just missing them, but where are all the Christmas’ Book Tags this year?

Oh well… So, I decided to revisit the ones I did last year, because I need to get into the Christmas cheer, and is there a better way to do it? So, if you want to check out my post from last year go here, and let’s do this 2016 edition now :).

1. Name a book you would like to see under the Christmas tree.

For some reason, and the reason is Hamilton, I’m really curious to read Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow, the book that inspired the musical. So I would love to get it, though I know I won’t.

2. Name a book you’ll be reading during the Christmas season.

I’m probably gonna read The Girl Who Fell by Shannon M. Parker around the Christmas time, and maybe Blonde Date (The Ivy Years #2.5) by Sarina Bowen because it’s set during the holidays?!

3. Name your favorite Christmas movie.

It’s still Love Actually… 😀

4. Do you like snow?

(the part where I keep last year’s answer just like it was…)

“Ok, I LOVE THE SNOW!!! But I might be fantasizing a bit about it, because it never really snows in Lisbon (or Barcelona for that matter), so I don’t actually know how it is to live with snow. I would like to know though, because I love the cold, and snow reminds me of peace somehow…”

5. Name a character you would like to spend your Christmas day with.

I’m gonna cheat here… I would like to spend it with Jamie and Wes and all the Cannings, because they’re awesome. Or the Shipley’s… I would so be ok with that too :D.

6. To give or receive.

This year? Neither?! I need to find my holiday mood soon, because at the moment I’m just like “has an whole year seriously gone by? How? Where? HOW?!“.

7. What fictional place would you like to spend Christmas at?

Ohhhh, Velaris at the Night Court (A Court of Mist and Fury)… how beautiful would it be?!

8. Fondest Christmas memory?

(again… keeping last year’s answer…)

“I have a pretty big family from my dad’s side, and when we were little, my cousins (mostly the same age as me), would snick out into the living room, and we always had chocolate Santas on the tree, so they would unwrap it, eat the chocolates and leave the wrapping in the tree (pretending they still had something inside). Still funny ’till this day.”

9. Can you say Christmas tree ten times fast in a row (pronouncing it correctly)?

Yeah… not trying this again this year! LOL.

I Tag

I’m gonna take this opportunity to tag some of my most recent followers, and to spread some holiday cheer around.

Don’t feel obligated to do this tag, ok? And if you decide to do it, have fun with it.

Season’s Greadings Tag

season

Hi, I think this might be my last Christmas-y book tag because really? How many more can I do, right? This time I was tagged by Deanna @A Novel Glimpse, so thank you and you guys should definitely check out her blog.

THE RULES:

1. Tag the creator (Abbielu @Cafe Book Bean)
2. Have fun answering the questions.
3. Tag 5-10 people to join in the fun.
4. Thank and link back to those who tagged you.
5. DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE RULES! YOU DON’T NEED TO BE TAGGED TO PARTICIPATE.

1. FAVORITE BOOK(S) TO READ DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON?

Any book! I’m lucky if I even manage to have time to read. Lately the only couple of times that I was able to was between 2 and 7 a.m. and that is not healthy.

2. TELL US YOUR BEST CHRISTMAS MEMORY.

I don’t really know… I always liked Christmas because of the family aspect to it. Every year since my nephews were born have been good :).

3. FAVORITE FICTIONAL WINTER WONDERLAND?

I feel like I repeat myself a lot during these Christmas-y tags, that’s why this will be the last one… Hogsmeade.

4. SNOWMAN OR SNOW ANGEL?

I would settle for SNOW! Any kind of snow…

5. WHAT IS YOUR ALL TIME FAVORITE CHRISTMAS/HOLIDAY MOVIE?

Hmmmm, I don’t know… Love Actually probably.

6. IF YOU COULD SPEND THE HOLIDAYS ANYWHERE (FICTION OR NON-FICTION,) WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

New York City… I would love to spend the holidays there, and I hope I get to, at least once in my life.

7. WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET UNDER THE MISTLETOE?

Hmmmm, Jem… or Rowan… or Thorne (that would be fun), or any other hot guy, I’m not very picky.

8. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE HOT HOLIDAY DRINK?

Is tea a holiday drink? Toffee Nut Latte or Eggnog Latte.

9. WHAT AUTHOR FROM ANY TIME WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE A CUP WITH?

Oh, so many! I would love to have a cup with Sarah J. Maas though, because she seems hilarious.

10. WHAT BOOK ARE YOU HOPING SANTA WILL BRING YOU?

“Santa” brought me 5 books! And some other stuff….

12 Days of Christmas Book Tag

12days

Hello!!! Here we are for yet another Christmas-y book tag, this is because I don’t have much time these days, and tags are always fun and easy to go to… This time I was tagged by Joey @Thoughts and Afterthoughts, Deanna @A Novel Glimpse and Summer @XingSings, so thank you guys – and you should definitely check out their blogs.

On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: a partridge in a pear tree.

The partridge stood alone in the pear tree. What is your favourite stand alone?

This is a bit like choosing a favorite child, right? I’m going with Attachments by Rainbow Rowell, because I identify with Lincoln a lot and Rowell is a genious when it comes to writing.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: two turtle doves.

Love is in the air! Who is your one true pairing?

Just one?! Grrrrrr, I’ll say Penryn and Raffe from Penryn and the End of Days trilogy by Susan Ee, because I just wanted to bang their heads together and make them admit how they felt about each other, and also, because they’re the cutest.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Three French Hens.

In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have read?

I used Penryn and the End of Days above, so here I’ll say The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. This one is SO GOOD!

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: four calling birds.

Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

I’ll say an unfinished series here, and that is the Throne of Glass series. As much as I love Harry Potter, Throne of Glass is just so damn awesome!

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: five golden rings.

One ring to rule them all! Who is your Favorite Villain/Antagonist?

I feel like I’m always repeating myself… Amarantha from A Court of Thorns and Roses is a pretty good villain.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: six geese a laying.

Creation is a beautiful thing. What is your favourite world/world-building?

I’m loving The Lunar Chronicles world building :D, it’s so cool and different, while at the same time familiar. Marissa Meyer did an amazing job with this series.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: seven swans a swimming.

Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick? Who’s your favourite animal sidekick?

Wow… I’m gonna cheat here and say Rowan from the Throne of Glass series. Rowan is my favorite everything and HE IS an animal… right? 😛

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: eight maids a milking.

Milk is so 18th century. Which book or series takes beverages/food to a whole new level?

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh, has the most amazing descriptions of food… yummi!

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: nine ladies dancing.

Dancing is just one skill of a Lady! Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

Penryn, from Penryn and the End of Days trilogy by Susan Ee, hands down!

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: ten lords a leaping.

How about your favourite leading lad?

Simon from Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love sent to me: eleven pipes piping.

What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence? (It can be about music, reference music a lot etc.)

The One Thing by Marci Lyn Curtis, not only is it one of my favorite books of the year, but music is a huge part of the plot.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love sent to me: 12 drummers drumming.

Drum roll please…what is your favourite read of this year?

HMMMMM, Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas…

Eheh, I’m done! I tag EVERYONE who wants to do this one 😉 HAVE FUN!

The Joy of Christmas Book Tag

christmas_1

I wasn’t exactly tagged for this one, but I saw it at Kat @My Life and Other Disasters and Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much, and it sounded like fun :D.

1.  Anticipation

The Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating?

I’m anticipating A LOT of books, way too many to list them all, but I’ll go with The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh, because that cliffhanger was brutal and I need to know that everyone will be fine… please, I need my Khalid and Shazi to be together and happy… pretty please?!

2. Christmas Songs & Carols

What book or author can you not help but sing its praises?

SO MANYYYYYY!!!! Ok, but Tahereh Mafi and Renée Ahdieh totally stole my heart in terms of beautiful writing. Then Marci Lyn Curtis and Nicola Yoon made me laugh out loud (and cry) throughout their books.

3. Gingerbread Houses

What book or series has wonderful world building?

I love the world building in the Throne of Glass series. I really like the balance between the fantastic and some more modern concepts.

4. A Christmas Carol

Favorite classic or one that you want to read

I’ve been meaning to read Little Women for over a year now. I even chased down two editions of the book that I love, and I own them both, one in each house – so I should have read it already – but I keep putting it off. I’ll read it in 2016 for sure.

5. Christmas Sweets

What book would you love to receive for Christmas

I feel like every single Christmas book tag has this question, right? I would love to get… (let’s change things a bit)… the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Why not? I asked for it last year but I didn’t get it =/ (and I won’t get it this year either…).

6. Candles in the Window

What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling

Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda (Becky Albertalli), it’s always Simon… Have you read it? It will give you all the warm fuzzy feelings in the world.

7. Christmas Trees & Decorations

What are some of your favorite book covers?

Oh my… SO MANY! I’ll just use books I’ve already read.

8. Christmas Joy

What are some of your favorite things about Christmas And/Or some of your favorite Christmas memories?

My favorite thing about Christmas is definitely spending time with all my family. It’s totally bonkers, because we are way too many, but no matter how stressful and tiring it is, it’s always worth it.

I’ll tag ANYONE who wants to do this tag, hurry up! Also, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! ❤

Merry Christmas!

merrychristmas

Quick post just to wish everybody a Merry Christmas!!! I’m heading to my dad’s family house in an hour or so, and tomorrow I’ll have a crazy day with my mom, brothers, nephews, etc, but I’m sure it will be happy times.

What about you guys? What’s your plan for Christmas? Tell me everything!

Happy Christmas!!!!

‘Tis The Season Book Tag

tistheseason

Hello again people! Today I’ll be doing another Christmas-y book tag, ‘Tis the Season Book Tag, and I was tagged Marian @BOOKCEPTION21 and Summer @Xingsings, thank you both girls!

1. DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE WINTER READ?

Not really… I would say that Harry Potter always reminds me of Christmas, but I don’t read it during Christmas, so, yeah, any book will do for me.

2. FIND A BOOK WITH BLUE ON THE COVER!

The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas is blue all over!

3. FIND A BOOK YOU’D USE AS THE STAR ON A CHRISTMAS TREE?

IMG-20151221-WA0000The Wrath and the Dawn by Renée Ahdieh, because this year the Christmas Tree at my brother’s house is gold and red, and it somehow reminds me of this book.

4. PICK ONE FICTIONAL PLACE THAT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR A WINTER VACATION!

I’m repeating my Dashing Through the Snow Book Tag answer here, and I’m going to say Hogsmeade.

5. PICK ONE FICTIONAL CHARACTER YOU’D TAKE WITH YOU ON YOUR WINTER VACATION!

I’m going a different way here and say Kenji from the Shatter Me trilogy, because there wouldn’t be a single dull moment with him around. He’s AWESOME!

6. NAME ONE BOOK ON YOUR WISHLIST THIS YEAR!

In the other tag I showed you guys a picture of the books I wanted and I know I’ll receive (because I was the one who bought them), so here I’m going to say one that I wish I would get, but I won’t… and that’s probably Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone the Illustrated Edition.

7. FAVORITE HOLIDAY DRINK, TREAT, & MOVIE?

My favorite drink is probably tea, but the holiday one, I do love the Toffee Nut Latte from Starbucks, and the Eggnog Latte but we don’t get that one here :(. Treat… I do love the dried fruits and nuts that we eat a lot here in Portugal, hazelnuts are my weakness. And movie, it will have to be Love Actually :D.

Lisbon, here I come!

lisbon

Today I’m going HOME! Yep, Lisbon here I come! I’m actually at the airport right now!!!

I’m so tired that I’m super excited to get home, but on the other hand, I’ll have so much other type of work to do, that I would gladly shut myself inside the lab for the next week or so…

I love Christmas, I really do, but this year everything is gonna be tricky… I’ll just run down some of the things I’ll have to do this next week, shall I?

Friday:

  • Pick up my mom’s car from the workshop;
  • Pick up my brother’s house keys from our housekeeper;
  • Visit my grandmother in the hospital – I hope she’s still at the hospital by friday, otherwise my day will get worse;
  • Have lunch with my BFF (possibly at the hospital, while visiting my grandmother);
  • Try to get some christmas shopping done (and probably failing);
  • Serve as a taxi for my brother in law;
  • Wait for my sister to deposit her kid and 2 dogs at my brother’s house, so I can babysit;
  • Pray for all that’s mighty that my nephew is calmer and not setting things on fire just because (yeah… I don’t really know what’s going on either);
  • Wait for the couple to return home so I can finally go to sleep in my bed – read: my house!
  • My grandma will be released for the hospital tomorrow morning, so after I pick up the car, I have to go pick her up at the hospital;
  • Pick her bag from her house;
  • Figure something out for lunch;
  • Convince my BFF to go meet me at my bro’s house to have lunch with my grandma and me;
  • Find time to go to a supermarket – his house doesn’t have a thing in it;
  • Figure out how to get my brother in law to his diner;
  • Say NO to my sister – and resist her psychological blackmail;
  • Get some Christmas Shopping done – good thing that the shopping malls are open until midnight.

Saturday:

  • Wake up at an ungodly hour in the morning;
  • Go to my older brother’s house to retrieve my younger brother’s card;
  • Go to Ikea to buy 2 simple beds – hope against hope that they’re able to deliver by Monday;
  • Go home – very close to Ikea;
  • Go to lunch with my dad and my aunts near the beach – a bit away from home;
  • Get back on the road around 4 p.m. because it will take me more than an hour to reach the airport;
  • Wait for my mom to come out of the arrival area, carrying my precious 4 legged “nephew” (yes, I mean a dog!);
  • Think of something to do with the dog, because my mom needs to visit my grandmother in the hospital right away (possibly);
  • Get the dog to my mom’s house;
  • Go to my brother’s house to leave the dog and collect my sister;
  • Have dinner with my mom and sister;
  • Attend a concert.

Sunday:

  • I don’t know… I reckon I’ll be dead by then…
  • Christmas shopping;
  • Visit my grandmother in the hospital at my brother’s house;
  • Supermarket.

Monday – Wednesday:

  • Grandma will probably leave the hospital;
  • Christmas shopping… a lot of them… all of them…
  • Watch over my grandma
  • SLEEP!

As you can see I’m going to have a super fun week… yeah, I’m super happy about that! Hopefully my grandma will be ok when she leaves the hospital, and Christmas will go down without a hitch and everything will be super super marvelous! But somehow, I think it will be an exhausting week and I’m so not looking forward to that.
