Dashing Through the Snow Book Tag

Hello, welcome to my first Winter themed tag. The Dashing Through the Snow Book Tag was created by Astra @A Stranger’s Guide to Novels, and I was tagged by tagged by Astra, Deanna @A Novel Glimpse and Joey @Thoughts and Afterthoughts. Thank you all, and please people, go check out their blogs.

1. Name a book you would like to see under the Christmas tree.

I’ll give you one better, I’m gonna show you a few books that I KNOW will be under my Christmas Tress. How can I be so sure, you ask? Well, see, one of my brothers gave me the arduous task of buying all his presents, because he only gets home on Christmas eve (he and his wife live in Angola), so I know for sure that he’s getting me Illuminae and A Monster Calls. The same with my grandmother, who is currently sick, and I bought her resent for me, and it’s the Grisha trilogy. I ordered them all myself. I’m only currently missing one Grisha, it should get here on Monday…

2. Name a book you’ll be reading during the Christmas season.

I’m making my way down my December TBR – I already added way too many extras books to it though… but near Christmas I would say that probably Carry On or Winter will be on the spot.

3. Name your favorite Christmas movie.

Hmmmm, I think I’ll have to go with Love Actually, I just never get tired of watching it, and it has a Portuguese actress there, and even if the Portuguese community is severely bad represented, I still love the movie. Also, Colin Firth actually speaks Portuguese there!!!!

4. Do you like snow?

Ok, I LOVE THE SNOW!!! But I might be fantasizing a bit about it, because it never really snows in Lisbon (or Barcelona for that matter), so I don’t actually know how it is to live with snow. I would like to know though, because I love the cold, and snow reminds me of peace somehow…

5. Name a character you would like to spend your Christmas day with.

Jem Carstairs! I don’t think I have to explain this one…

6. To give or receive.

Mostly to give, I love picking out the right present for each member of my family. I have to admit though, I’m not one of those people who gives Christmas gifts to everyone, it’s usually just my family and my best friend (and that’s because she started giving me stuff a few years ago).

7. What fictional place would you like to spend Christmas at?

Someplace with a lot of snow and fireplaces?! Hogsmeade!!!

8. Fondest Christmas memory?

I have a pretty big family from my dad’s side, and when we were little, my cousins (mostly the same age as me), would snick out into the living room, and we always had chocolate Santas on the tree, so they would unwrap it, eat the chocolates and leave the wrapping in the tree (pretending they still had something inside). Still funny ’till this day.

9. Can you say Christmas tree ten times fast in a row (pronouncing it correctly)?

Uhhhhh, sort of?! LOL, there was nobody here to tell me if I was doing it right! 😛

This is it for this tag, this was fun. I tag EVERYONE!!!! Do it, it’s fun!

December TBR

As promised, here is my reading list for this month of December. I won’t go overboard with this TBR, because I suspect that I will not have that much time in the week before Christmas. I’m heading to Portugal on December 17 and until Christmas day, my days will be filled with family, shopping and gift wrapping. So, what I plan to read:

1. Cress by Marissa Meyer – I’m almost done!

2. Carry On by Rainbow Rowell – This was part of last month’s TBR, but I never got to it. December and Christmas seems like a perfect time to get into this story

3. Winter by Marissa Meyer – I’ll have to buy the ebook, but I need to know how the series ends before the end of the year.

4. Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon – Do I need a reason?

5. Crystallum by Laney McMann – This book came out a couple of days ago, but I wasn’t in the mood to read the ARC in November, but I’m hoping to get to it this week

6. Deal Breakers by Laura Lee – eARC from Netgalley, and it sound fun.

7. Reasons To Love A Nerd Like Me by Becky Jerams – This book was sent to me by the author and I’m so excited to read it 😀 .

8. Distraction by Laura Clark – Same as the above, the book was sent to me by the author and I’m curious about it. And I love that cover!

9. More Than Music (Chasing the Dream #1) by Elizabeth Briggs – If you remember my November Book Haul, I got a bundle from Netgalley that contains 8 books. I want to get to some of those books this month, they are all New Adult books about bands. I thought I would start with a band I already love!

This is it. This TBR is slightly smaller than last month’s and I’m hoping I can get to all of these books and maybe even add a few more.

Christmas madness!

Wow, it has been a crazy few weeks! Since the day I set my foot in Portugal, the 18th of December, I did not have one single day when I could just sit down in front of my computer, either to write something, or to work for that matter.

Between Christmas shopping, time with my nephew, cinema, Christmas, days with family, the New Year, organizing my room at home and seeing a few friends, the time totally flew by.

I get home on Sunday, by that time I really do hope I get some time to write some stuff, such as the movies I watched over these weeks and the premieres of some shows…

See you soon!

Holiday season is here!

Everyone gets excited around Christmas, am I right? Here are some reasons why I can’t way for it to come…

I get to go home

Actually, I don’t even have to wait that long for this one, tomorrow afternoon I’m headed to Lisbon, for a two and a half weeks “vacations”. And this means…

I get to see my family

Who doesn’t like that? I miss them all so much, but most of all, I miss my nieces and nephew, and Christmas it’s their time :).

I get to bake

I like cooking in general, but I love love love baking! Anniversaries, Holidays and special occasions are the only times I get to seriously bake. So I’m planning to make an apple pie, Red Velvet cake with cream cheese filling and a chocolate cake (for the kids) and maybe I’ll get excited and bake some cupcakes =). It’s a busy few days before Christmas, but I have to admit that I love it!

I get to travel

Here’s another thing I couldn’t live without: travelling! I get to travel all the time, between BCN and LIS, but it’s not the same thing. So, for the New Year, I’ll be going to Casablanca with my mom. We travel together all the time, earlier this year I went with her to the US (Atlanta and NY), so it’s nice to do it again. Next year we have at least one trip together lined up, to Ireland, and we’re considering two more =).

I get some time off

Anyone who’s taking or took their PhD knows that this is not entirely true, you can never truly tune out the amount of work you have waiting for you at home and at the lab… but dammit, I had a couple of super overworked weeks, I really need a break… even if said break consists of running around buying Christmas presents for the kids and slaving myself in the kitchen! I do hope I get some time to re-watch The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and to finally see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. And to catch all the Christmas classics on TV =). When Christmas is done, I hope I get around to make some progress on my Harry Potter Gryffindor house scarf and to do some reading.

Doctor Who Christmas Special

In between all this stuff, I’m really excited for the DW Christmas Special. I’m obviously sad that Matt Smith is leaving, but I can’t wait for Capaldi’s Doctor to begin.

Sherlock and the New Year

Sherlock returns january 1st and I can’t wait!!!! =D

And last but not least… I get to sleep in my own bed!

Which is just perfect 🙂
