Book Traveling Thursdays: A Book With My OTP

btt_otp

Hello, welcome back for the 4th week ok Book Traveling 168709Thursdays, which a weekly meme created by Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much and Danielle @Danielle’s Book Blog. The goal is to share the covers of a book related to that week’s theme, which you can see at the Goodreads group, indicating the original cover, the one of your country, your favorite and least favorite.

This week’s theme is “It’s getting a little chilly outside. Better cuddle up *wink wink*! Choose a book that your O.T.P. is in.“. For this week I chose a book that has ONE of my OTPs on it, because really, who has just one? So The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes, because it’s the first time that Alec and Magnus are together. But seriously, one OTP?

Original Over:

I like this cover! It’s the one I own (one of them at least) and it’s pretty! It features Clary 😉 .

COVER FROM MY COUNTRY (PORTUGAL) & COVER FROM THE COUNTRY I LIVE IN (SPAIN):

Look at that! A book that exists in Portugal AND Spain! I’m so proud! However, and don’t ask me why, Spain and Portugal inverted the covers, they used the original one from City of Bones (with Jace) for City of Ashes, and vice-versa.

FAVORITE COVER(s):

I’m in love with the new UK covers for The Mortal Instruments, so much so that I bought the whole series again with these covers 😀 . I also really like the new US cover and the Bulgarian one is strangely beautiful.

LEAST FAVORITE COVER(s):

                                 polish

The Polish and Italian are probably my least favorites, actually, they’re pretty bad, especially the Polish. I mean, who is that? is that supposed to be Izzy?

The Mortal Instruments: UK covers

You are probably aware of this, but Walker books has changed the cover of The Mortal Instruments series. They have new covers in the US, which are gorgeous, but as soon as I saw the UK ones I knew I just have to have them. Just look at them!!!

They were released earlier this month, but Amazon.es had them at 10 to 12 euros per book, which is way too expensive when you’re thinking of buying the 6 of them together. But yesterday, I entered my account to see one other book, and noticed that The Mortal Instruments were at a lower price, 7€ each one! I didn’t even think twice, I ordered them right there and then. Now I’m patiently awaiting their arrival early next week 😀 !!!

I much prefer the witty, sarcastic Jace, but I have to admit that this totally stole my breath away… if it wasn’t for the fact that a minute after he told her that he just wanted to be a brother to her… oh Jace!

“I swear, I almost died back there on that ship, you know.”

He let her hand go, but he was staring at her, almost as if he meant to memorize her face. ” I know,” he said. “everytime you almost die, I almost die myself.”

Alec, under the influence of the fearless rune… almost spilling the beans to his parents about his relationship with Magnus… I think this was the moment they became my favourite couple in The Mortal Instruments

“Mother.” Alec’s voice as he interrupted his mother was firm, implacable, and not unkind. “Father. There’s something I have to tell you.” He smiled at them. “I’m seeing someone.”

Robert Lightwood looked at his son with some exasperation. “Alec,” he said. “This is hardly the time.”

“Yes, it is. This is important. You see, I’m not just seeing anyone.” Words seemed to be pouring out of Alec in a torrent, while his parents looked on in confusion. Isabelle and Magnus were staring at him with expressions of nearly identical astonishment. “I’m seeing a Downworlder. In fact, I’m seeing a war—”

Magnus’s fingers moved, quick as a flash of light, in Alec’s direction. There was a faint shimmer in the air around Alec — his eyes rolled up — and he dropped to the floor, felled like a tree.”

Alec in CoB, CoA and CoG

I just found this on Tumblr and I had to share it! I found it on malec-is-my-drug . I couldn’t have found a most adequate description to the evolution of Alec Lightwood in the first 3 books… Alec in City of Bones and City of Ashes is all like “no, I don’t have a boyfriend… I don’t fell anything!” and then in City of Grass he’s all like “F**k this s**t, I’m gonna kiss my boyfriend in front of everybody and I don’t care about anyone’s opinions!”.

Oh Alec!!! You dumb beautiful boy! Is that the way you talk about your BOYFRIEND?! Poor Magnus…

” “We’re not dating,” Alec said again.
“Oh?” Magnus said. “So you’re just that friendly with everybody, is that it?” “

Jace, being is awesome sassy self!

“ “Just because you said dragon demons were extinct—”

“I said mostly extinct.”

Alec jabbed a finger toward him. “Mostly extinct,” he said, his voice trembling with rage, “is NOT EXTINCT ENOUGH.”

“I see,” said Jace. “I’ll just have them change the entry in the demonology textbook from ‘almost extinct’ to ‘not extinct enough for Alec. He prefers his monsters really, really extinct.’ Will that make you happy?” “

Jace to Luke, after picking a fight with his pack… teenagers… well, a teenager that just got shunned by the only mother he ever knew… so… yeah, maybe he’s not so bad! Poor Jace (and God damn it, Luke is the perfect man/wolf/dad)!

“I don’t want to be a man, I want to be an angst-ridden teenager who can’t confront his own inner demons and takes it out verbally on other people instead.”
