Movie of the Week: Beauty and the Beast

People, I have seen Beauty and the Beast twice now, and I’ve loved it a lot both times. I cried. I laughed. It made me super duper happy.

We all know the story, right? I have to say that I loved how faithful they were to the original animated movie, but they made it better, because they deppened the relationships and bonds between the characters, and filled some major plot holes from the animated version.

I loved all the characters and the actors playing them. Seriously, the casting was genius! Emma Watson was a perfect Belle, and I personally loved Dan Stevens as the Beast, especially while in Beast form, because he was so expressive! But Luke Evans as Gaston was brilliant and Josh Gad as LeFou was AMAZING! I loved what they did with LeFou’s character, because they actually gave him a brain and a personality.

Like I said previously, I think they did amazing with building the connection between the characters, and that’s especially true with Belle and the Beast’s relationship. There’s more moments and more talk, and actually getting to know each other in this adaptation, and YES! It was awesome.

Just to finish it off, I’m a huge fan of the musical side of this movie, and I was singing along throughout the whole movie… eheh 😀 .

I’m giving it 5 stars, for sure, because I loved it so much!

Now to you. Have you seen Beauty and the Beast?
Have you loved it as well? What are your Thoughts about it???

Beauty and the Beast: Dan Stevens and Luke Evans cast

Yesterday was a busy day for the Beauty and the Beast movie! It appears that they found the Beast and Gaston… yeah, both of them.

Let’s start with the most important, it appears that Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) was cast as the Beast (os Prince Adam), opposite Emma Watson’s Belle. I am super excited about this! I love Dan, he has an amazing presence and he’s gorgeous… I mean, have you see those eyes?!

For a moment there the whole internet was talking about how Ryan Gosling would be the perfect Beast and all I can say is THANK GOD they did not go there. Maybe it’s just me, I never saw The Notebook, but I really don’t think he’s all that much… I’m happy with their choice here.

Meanwhile, it appears that the villain Gaston will be played by no other than the amazingly perfect Luke Evans!!! I love him, love love love him, and I’m so used to him being perfectly good that I don’t know how I’ll fell about him being the cocky Gaston, but I’m sure he’ll be perfect (he always is!).

Downton Abbey season 2

Yesterday, and after 2 days of just watching Downton Abbey, I finally finished season 2. I had loved season 1, but I thought that the second season was way better. Warning, there will undoubtedly be spoilers ahead.

The second season brings us war and changes at Downton. I realized while watching it that I couldn’t hate any of the characters. Even Thomas, who I still find is the easiest to hate, went through some bad times during the season and came out rather likable. O’Brien, filled with guilt from her behaviour during the last episode of season 1, at least tries to be good do Cora. Ethel, so know it all, crumbles and you just can’t help but feel for the girl.

I had to admit that I spent most of the episodes crying. Weather it was because of the war, the injuries, the pull away between Matthew and Mary, or the happy moments, it was all tears inducing.

Memorable moments of the season to me:

  • William’s death… OMG, poor Daisy and poor William (for different reasons, of course). I’m still not sure how I feel about this, for one hand, Daisy did William a kindness in his last moments of life, but on the other hand, I do understand the poor girl…

  •  Edith rising up to the challenge. This season changed my view on Edith, Sybil is right when she tells her that the war made her nicer.
  • Bates and Anna finally get married!!! OH MY GOD! I love this moment so much, I loved it when she plainly told him that she would face whatever was coming as his next of kin. I wished that they could have had someone at the wedding, but it was perfect as it was.

  • Anna and Mary. Throughout the season Mary shows that not only is a lady’s maid duty to keep secrets, but the lady herself also keeps her maid’s secrets. Mary shows that she’s a true friend to Anna, despite their different classes. She goes as far as to give her a room for her to spend her wedding night with Bates… that’s pretty cool.
  • Lavinia, poor girl, I wanted so much to hate her, but that was quite difficult because she was so adorable. I was happy when she dies though, it gave a nice closure for the matter and finally a chance for Matthew and Mary to get together.

  • Sybil and Branson. It took a while for Sybil to realize that Tom was right and she did love him. But all credit to both of them. She makes it through the war tougher than ever, and a nurse, and tells her father that whatever he tells her, it’s not important, she doesn’t need money or status, she needs Branson. And off to Ireland they both go.

  • Lady Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham, is without a doubt the best written part in this show. She’s dedicated to her status and class, but she manages always to surprise us. And she says the most hilarious things.

  • But without a doubt, the most WTF moment during season 2 was the fact that Lord Grantham and Jane the housemaid were sneaking around and kissing throughout the house… I was so shocked!!!!

  • Oh, and Carson and Mrs. Hughes are pretty much my favorite people 😉

Downton Abbey… just 4 years late!

Downton Abbey… would you believe me if I told you that I had never seen an episode, not even a single minute of the show, until 2 days ago? Yep, true! I have wanted to get around to it for a while now, but stuff got in the way, other shows came up, and Downton Abbey was left for a rainy moment. Well, the other day, I was doing some zapping at 1 a.m. and stumbled into a channel that was showing an episode of the 4th season (I’m saying 4th based on the fact that Mary’s husband was already dead – and although I never saw the show, I do know what it’s about, given that even if I don’t actively read the recaps and spoilers of the show, somethings you can’t escape knowing…). So, there it was, an episode of season 4 and suddenly it hit me: I have to watch this show… NOW!

Yesterday, with an hour to lunch and many shows to watch – though none with a single episode – I decided it was a good time… so I played Downton Abbey season 1 episode 1 on my pc, while eating lunch at my desk at work (yes… yesterday was sunday and I was working…). Now I’m hooked! Before I went to bed yesterday I had seen through episode 6, leaving only the season 1 finale to watch… and then seasons 2, 3, 4 and 5!

Obviously just after a couple of episodes I already had my favourites, such as Anna and Bates, Sybil or Matthew. And those I will love to hate (or sometimes just hate hate), such as Thomas or O’Brian. Then there’s the case of Dowager Countess of Grantham (Dame Maggie Smith) who I still don’t know if I like, but definitely love =).

Basically I love most of the staff, while most of the nobility I still don’t know how I fell for them… each time I think they do something great, they go ahead and spoil it on the next scene. Edith Crawley, though, I don’t like… I know the girl as not had it easy, with all the focus being on either her older or younger sister, still, she takes things too far at times. Can’t wait to finish it =D !!!
