Movie of the Week: Suicide Squad

So… I finally went to see Suicide Squad, because I was curious, and because the people I’m with right now, sis + brother in law + friend + nephew, really wanted to see it as well. Well guys… neither of us actually liked it. It was such a disappointing movie.

I felt like this one had such a huge potential, but it was totally wasted away. While some characters were great – ahem, Harley Quinn – most were underwhelming, and their inclusion in the story was not totally well rounded. For instance, maybe I’m alone in this, but I really didn’t like Jared Leto’s Joker. Such a huge deal was done in regards to his casting, but for me it was just a big no.

I liked some of the other characters, but ultimately they lacked something. Will Smith did mostly an amazing job, but some of his dialogue felt disconnected, and lacked something. In fact, most of my problems were with the dialogue and conversations… the timing was off and they felt so weird.

The story was just a bit nonsense to me, and the Enchantress ended up having a role I wasn’t expecting and that I didn’t like. I had a few “WTF?!” moments during this movie. Way too many. The transitions were also off. To be honest, there was very little I actually liked, and I’m not sure if I’m getting too picky, or if these movies are just sucking big time.

Legends of Tomorrow: Hawkgirl and Hawkman

God, I love September! TV shows about to start and all this info surfacing… *bliss*… The CW has released the first picture of Hawkman and Hawkgirl from the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow, Falk Hentschel plays Carter Hall/Hawkman and Ciara Renée is Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl.

   

I really like the suits, and I can’t wait to see the wings. It’s definitely better that the costume Carter Hall used in Smallville.

Like their DC Comics counterparts, in the series Hawkman and Hawkgirl are the reincarnation of a pair of devoted lovers originally from Ancient Egypt. Fated to be born again and again in different eras, they two always find each other and generally end up fighting for their current era’s version of truth, justice and the [Appropriate nation-state] way. (Worth noting however that the Legends version of Hawkgirl combines two versions of the character.) The characters will debut on this season’s Arrow/The Flash crossover episode before returning as series regulars on Legends. – Deadline

Arrow will now be Green!

This promo picture from Arrow was released a few days ago – but I had totally forgot about it until today. It shows Oliver’s new get-up! 😀 It’s greener! We’re slowly getting to the Green Arrow we all know.

Suicide Squad: Official Trailer

Apparently DC was too upset because some people at comic con released footage of the screening of the trailer – doesn’t it happen every time?! – so they decided to release the official Suicide Squad trailer themselves.

Oh, I’m glad they did!

This trailer is kind of awesome… quietly, hauntingly beautiful. And am I the only one who find Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn completely mesmerizing? Hipnotic even? And that music?! Oh… WOW!

Batman V Superman: Comic-Con Trailer

=| This looks good… I have to admit, I’ve very skeptical about this movie, I’m not a huge DC fan, and pining Batman vs Superman is weird to me. But this trailer, wow!

(just tell me we’re not going to see Bruce’s parents die again… because it sure seem like it…)

The Flash: Fast Enough

Let me start by saying that I was consciously putting off watching this episode because I knew it was going to be heartbreaking and then I would have to go through a lot of months without this show, and I’m still not ready for that!

The Flash did everything right this season, but that finale, oh boy, that was something else.

• First of all, the acting. This cast took it out of the park, especially Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Rick Cosnett, Carlos Valdes and John Wesley Shipp. When the episode ended, I was all tears.

• This episode shows so well that in this show (or at least in this season), the focus was much more on Barry and his fathers, than on Barry and his love interests, and that is amazing. More so because Barry and his dads are AMAZING!

• Each time Barry has a scene with Joe it’s probably gonna be my favorite of that episode – they’re just that good. But on this one, it was the Barry/Henry scene that made me lose it completely. What Henry tells his son is just so profound, he rather be in jail than see his son become something less than what he is… come on, that’s love!

• But Joe is not behind, he rather lose Barry as a son, in order for him to grow up with both his parents… more tears – what was the game plan here, Flash writers?!

• I loved Dr. Stein on this episode, how determinant he was for almost everything. I liked especially of his talk with Eddie!!! I’m looking forward to see more of him in Legends of Tomorrow.

• Cisco and Wells… I could watch more of them. I’m kind of hoping that now that the Reverse Flash has ceased to exist, that it somehow means that the real Harrison Wells never died, and that somehow he and Cisco might bond. But that’s asking a lot, because if they go there, they would have to erase and change a lot of things, and I guess that’s more of a parallel timeline or something like that. Though Tom Cavanagh is confirmed for season 2, so…

• Cisco is on his way to becoming Vibe, while Caitlin is seen as Killer Frost when Barry is trying to create the wormhole.

• I was really ok with Eddie taking control of his destiny and going to get the girl – though we knew it was doomed from the start. But he was right, the universe in which Iris bears the name Allen, is not their universe, so in reality they could have happened.

• If it wasn’t of course for the fact that Eddie needed to stop existing… he had to go and be a hero… I will miss him dearly!!! But ultimately he did what he had to do to completely erase the Reverse Flash. Well done… you were a real hero Eddie.

• There’s one thing that I’m not 100% convinced about: Ronnie and Caitlin. I love Caitlin. I like Ronnie. I do not like them together! I did not like that wedding. At all! Sorry…

• Grant Gustin is amazing! Have I said that already?! This show has been so great because he inputs a heart to Barry and the Flash, while maintaining a comedic side… He has been wonderful and should truly be commended by the success of this series.

• Oh… and that scene with Nora Allen?! WOW!

Oh… I’m gonna miss you Flash!

Supergirl first look

Yesterday, CBS released the first look into its new series Supergirl, and man, it actually looks SUPER.

This really took me by surprise, I didn’t have really high hopes for this show, and I was definitely not convinced by Melissa Benoist as Kara, but she actually looks and sound great. She’s adorkable… I do see a bit of Felicity Smoak on her (CBS, you shouldn’t rip CW content!).

It’s feminist all the way. I mean, you have 2 guys helping the girl to fulfill her destiny and not the other way around?! Groundbreaking from the start (for a Superman-ish point of view).

What do you think is so bad about Supergirl?

I’m a girl. And your boss. And powerful. And rich. And hot. And smart.

So, if you perceive Supergirl as anything less than excellent, isn’t the real problem YOU?”

I love Cat Grant already!

It’s not a bird, or a plane, or a MAN! It’s Supergirl! I only wished they had toned down on the references of her “cousin”. People, we get it! She’s Superman’s cousin, she knows it, the whole world knows it, there’s no need repeating it to exhaustion.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Trailer

Just a couple of hours since the picture release, we now have a trailer, a proper, hella cool trailer!

I’m so freaking happy about this trailer, the show looks amazing (AMAZING!!!), it’s like The Flash and Arrow and Smallville and Doctor Who all rolled into one, with a pinch of Prison Break! Epic! =D

Oh, and hell yeah Caity Lotz is playing White Canary! Lazarus Pit, you really outdone yourself with this one!

First look at Legends of Tomorrow

The Arrow/The Flash spinoff finally has some graphics and is set to premiere midseason. It looks so cool!!!

It also gives us a first look at Caity Lotz’ character, which seems to be the White Canary, though confirmation, when, how and why, we still don’t have.

Arrow: Sacrifice Look Ahead

On other news, someone will try to kill Roy – I’ll be very mad if they succeed…

Oliver will team up with Ray to protect the city.

Oliver will try to break Roy out of prison – lets all hope he’s alive until then.

Oliver will say yes to the offer and join the league – not really a big surprise given that in The Flash promo photos he’s wearing the league uniform.

Thea vs. Ra’s Al Ghul… not a chance in hell, but very cool anyway!

Again… Felicity and Oliver! I can’t stress enough how happy I am about this, I do hope they don’t screw it up, and that it’s not a dream or fantasy or something of the sorts… Also, Ray does look so disappointed…
