My Intimidating TBR Pile Tag

intimidatingtbrtag

Hello people. It«s saturday, which means it’s time for another book tag. This time I’m doing My Intimidating TBR Pile Tag, and I was tagged by the awesome Keira @Signing On, go check out her tag and blog.

What book have you been unable to finish?

I’ve been unable to finish The Iliad by Homer, so far, but I fully intend to try again. I started reading the portuguese translation a long time again, and at the time I wasn’t sleeping enough and I had a long train ride, and somehow the book put me to sleep every single day. I love mythology and I think one of the issues for me it’s that the translation is in prose instead of poem… like most of them. I don’t get why that is…

What book have you yet to read because you just haven’t had the time?

One of the books I’ve been meaning to read but haven’t been able to find the time is Night Owls or The Anatomical Shape of a Heart by Jenn Bennett. I do want to read it, bad, but time, oh time…

(this book is also one the most gorgeous books I own)

What book have you yet to read because it is a sequel?

I don’t know if I quite get the question, but ok. So, I need to finally read A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire #3) by George R.R. Martin, eventually… some day. Soon. I really loved book 1 and book 2, though that one was a little harder to get through. Why are all the sames so similar?

What book have you yet to read because it is brand new?

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. I’ve had it for a couple of weeks now, but I still haven’t been able to get to it.

Soon, I promise.

What book have you yet to read because you read a book by the same author and didn’t enjoy it?

Probably The Scorch Trials (The Maze Runner #2) by James Dashner. It’s not that I didn’t enjoy The Maze Runner, it’s just that it didn’t made me pick up the second book, even though it was right there, sitting on my shelf…

What book have you yet to read because you’re just not in the mood for it?

Another one that has been sitting on my shelf for a long long time… Inferno by Dan Brown. I do want to read it before the movie comes out though, so I guess I should consider doing it sooner rather than later.

What book have you yet to read because it is humongous?

For this one I clearly have to say the biggest book on my shelf, and that is Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. This one I doubt that I’ll get to anytime soon. In truth, I’m not sure if it will ever happen.

What book Have you yet to read because it was a cover buy that turned out to have poor reviews?

Hmmm, so I bought Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs not only because the cover and the book itself is interesting and beautiful, but because I saw a couple of good reviews. Then I started to read not so stellar reviews and now I’m pretty sure that the book is not really my thing.

What is the most intimidating book in your TBR pile?

Probably Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I love the show, LOVE IT, and I’m 100% sure that I’ll love the book. However, this book is huge and I’m scared of it. Scared!

And this is even though I own the digital version…

Outlander Season 2 Sneak Peek

outlander-season-2-poster-jamie-claire

Outlander will be back in April 9!! Starz also released the season 2 trailer, which you can see below, and wow, that looks intense. It’s time for me to finally finish season one, because then I won’t have to suffer the wait! 😀

August Book Haul

How has August came to an end already?! o_O This month went by way too fast… WOW! So, once again, welcome back to my August Book Haul.

August_book_haul

This month I bought very few books. I was amazed at myself really! But I ended up hauling a lot of them, mostly e-books, given that this was my first month in NetGalley and Edelweiss… So, without further ado, I present the physical books I got this month.

Funny haul, ah? I bought 3 traveling books for my upcoming trip to Seoul and Japan in October. The first two are for my mom’s collection – we always buy these and in truth, we just open them on the plane… Then I got A Geek in Japan, because I so fell in love with the concept of this book, and I’m a geek and I’ll be in Japan!

Then I got the amazing The Wrath and The Dawn by Renée Ahdieh and after reading Shatter Me, I couldn’t resist and bought the novellas, Unite Me by Tahereh Mafi, and I already read Destroy Me.

I also got the amazing audiobook of You’re Never Weird on the Internet (Almost) by Felicia Day.

Now the longer part… eBooks! I got my kindle on the first week of August, but I bought a few books even before I got it. The firsts (and so far only) books that I bought for my Kindle were: The Outlander Series 7-Book Bundle – Outlander, Dragonfly in Amber, Voyager, Drums of Autumn, The Fiery Cross, A Breath of Snow and Ashes and An Echo in the Bone. I want to get to this series eventually, but honestly I bought it because the price was too good to pass up… a little over 2$ for 7 HUGE books! It was a true steal, and I’m super happy about this buy.

Then I accumulated a few books from NetGalley, Blogging for Books and Edelweiss:

And that’s it for my August Book Haul! I’ll be doing my wrap-up tomorrow (probably) and my September TBR on Tuesday 😉 .

Outlander gets a return date

The first part of the first season isn’t even over yet, and I’m already suffering with withdrawal. Still, now Starz has given us a date, yupppiii! Claire and Jamie Fraser will return on Saturday, April 4th, 2015. Yeah… it’s 6 months from now… 6! I honestly don’t know what I’ll do, I guess I’ll have to read the books 😉 !

Outlander… I’m hooked!

Once again, I’m a bit late to the party. But hey, saturday I arrived from Basel and was pretty beat up and realized I needed to watch something good, so, I had the three episodes released so far of Outlander and I just thought: “This is a good moment as any!”. So, while having dinner (which mainly consisted of pre-prepared thing, since I had no time to do any shopping), I started episode one… and that was it! Between some phrases that I couldn’t understand, and some gaelic that I definitely have no idea what it means, I was completely hooked!

Amazingly done, great scenery, great acting, great kilts… yeah… I might be a little bit in love with those kilts (obviously not the guy in the pic who wears them so well…). I’m so curious to read the books – whenever I finish the current series and the 2 others I have lying and waiting. Have you watched it? You should!
