Bookish BFFs: Girls and Boys Can Be Just Friends!

book_bffs

We’re fast approaching Valentine’s day, and I’ve pledged that this month I’ll only read Romances (and it’s going great so far – 3 down!). But a couple of days ago was Friends’ Day, did you know that? Yep. So it got me thinking about something I really love to read in books: strictly platonic boy-girl BFFs. Oh, don’t get me wrong, one of my favorite type of romance to read is BFFs turned something more, but I do love when a book shows that a girl and a boy can be friends and nothing more. Here are some of my favorites.

1. Juliette and Kenji – Shatter Me Trilogy

I absolutely love Kenji and Juliette’s dynamic. They go to strangers to best friends in no time, because they connect really well together. And although Kenji throws some flirtation around – because it’s Kenji and he just can’t help it – there’s never a moment where it seems like their relation might go that way. Instead, they truly become BFFs, with Juliette using her BFF as a relationship advisor and all.

2. Cinder and ThorneThe Lunar Chronicles

Their relationship warms my heart! I just love how much they fight and banter and everything, but at the end of the day, they trust each other completely and would do just about anything for one another.

(source)

3. Harry and Hermione – Harry Potter

This is goals! Never while reading the 7 books, did I ever doubt that this was a strictly platonic friendship. NEVER! Harry and Hermione are BFFs and that’s it. Yes, I’m aware that a while back J.K. Rowling said that Hermione should have ended up with Harry, but I’m gonna forget she ever said that, because Hermione always belonged with Ron.

4. Simon and Penny – Carry On

Oh, they are beyond perfect! I love their friendship. Early in the book, Simon explain how he and Penny are just friends and they never felt more than that, and how some people thought it was weird… yeah, see point nº 3!

5. Maggie and Ben – The One Thing

Even though Ben is several years younger than Maggie, their friendship is beautiful and one of the many reasons you should read The One Thing by Marci Lyn Curtis. I wish I had a Ben in my life…

So, tell me. Do you like to read about awesome friendships between boys and girls that doesn’t lead anywhere else? What’s your favorite?

The Friends Book Tag

booktag_friends

Hey! Saturday again, which means it’s time for another book tag! Today I’ll be tackling The Friends Book Tag, and I was tagged by Deanna @A Novel Glimpse – thank you Deanna and people, go check out her blog. I love Friends :D, I’ve seen all seasons 3 years ago and totally fell in love with it.

The One Where Eddie Won’t Go – a character I wish would just go away:

Oh, we’re starting well here… I’m going to have to say Agatha from Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell. If you read the book, chances are you’ll agree with this.

The One Where Ross and Rachel Take A Break – favorite break up scene:

First of all, I do they they were on a break, and I even wrote a post about it… a long time ago. And favorite how? I can only think of sad break ups, because I’m usually rooting for the couple breaking up, I guess. Ok, I got one happy one :D. Juliette and Adam’s break up in Unravel Me… 😀 😀 😀 – that one made me happy!

The One With All The Kissing – a book with lots of kissing:

This one is funny! Most of romances end up having a lot of kissing, right? And I have to be honest that I’m kind of tempted to use Carry On again, but I won’t. Instead I’ll say Loud is How I Love You by Mercy Brown, that had a LOT of kissing and it’s so good!

The Last One – favorite series finale:

Hmmmm, Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, was the perfect ending for The Infernal Devices trilogy.

The One With a Blackout – a scene I’d like to forget:

There’s a scene in Your Voice Is All I Hear by Leah Scheier that totally broke me. Actually, there are several scenes in this book that I would like to pretend never happened, even though they’re super important and they made me ache and they’re so good. One is on April’s front door and other is in Jonah’s bedroom, and if you read this book, you know what I’m talking about.

The One Where Chandler Can’t Cry – a book that did not make you as emotional as others:

I do get emotional on books, even if they don’t make me cry, I usually end up caring deeply for the characters. Well, when I finished Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews, I didn’t exactly care… the story was sad, and I liked the book, but I wasn’t emotionally invested in it.

The One Where Joey Doesn’t Share Food – a book you won’t ever lend:

Probably my new The Mortal Instruments books. They are NEW, as in, not even I have opened them, so they will probably never be opened by someone other than me. I wouldn’t mind lending the original ones, if I had to though.

The One With the Thumb – a recent read that you would give two thumbs up to:

Chasing Crazy by Kelly Siskind was such a fantastic read, I would urge anyone into the New Adult genre to pick this one up, it’s a delight. I laughed and cried and I loved it!

The One With the Ick Factor – a book with a pet peeve:

I’m gonna say one that really bothered me for the past 2 days: over-discription. Yep people, there’s a thing when something is described above the point or normalcy. I’m currently 40% in The High Mountains of Portugal by Yann Martel, and Oh My GOD dude, I don’t really need to know every single thing that goes into an 1900’s automobile… I really don’t! (I do now!)

The One With The Lesbian Wedding – favorite LGBTQ book couple:

This will be a toss between Simons, which means I’m saying Simon and Blue from Simon Vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda (Becky Albertalli) and Simon and Baz from Carry On (Rainbow Rowell). They are just both too awesome for words!

And I’m done. Now I’m gonna tag:

Lisbon, here I come!

lisbon

Today I’m going HOME! Yep, Lisbon here I come! I’m actually at the airport right now!!!

I’m so tired that I’m super excited to get home, but on the other hand, I’ll have so much other type of work to do, that I would gladly shut myself inside the lab for the next week or so…

I love Christmas, I really do, but this year everything is gonna be tricky… I’ll just run down some of the things I’ll have to do this next week, shall I?

Friday:

  • Pick up my mom’s car from the workshop;
  • Pick up my brother’s house keys from our housekeeper;
  • Visit my grandmother in the hospital – I hope she’s still at the hospital by friday, otherwise my day will get worse;
  • Have lunch with my BFF (possibly at the hospital, while visiting my grandmother);
  • Try to get some christmas shopping done (and probably failing);
  • Serve as a taxi for my brother in law;
  • Wait for my sister to deposit her kid and 2 dogs at my brother’s house, so I can babysit;
  • Pray for all that’s mighty that my nephew is calmer and not setting things on fire just because (yeah… I don’t really know what’s going on either);
  • Wait for the couple to return home so I can finally go to sleep in my bed – read: my house!
  • My grandma will be released for the hospital tomorrow morning, so after I pick up the car, I have to go pick her up at the hospital;
  • Pick her bag from her house;
  • Figure something out for lunch;
  • Convince my BFF to go meet me at my bro’s house to have lunch with my grandma and me;
  • Find time to go to a supermarket – his house doesn’t have a thing in it;
  • Figure out how to get my brother in law to his diner;
  • Say NO to my sister – and resist her psychological blackmail;
  • Get some Christmas Shopping done – good thing that the shopping malls are open until midnight.

Saturday:

  • Wake up at an ungodly hour in the morning;
  • Go to my older brother’s house to retrieve my younger brother’s card;
  • Go to Ikea to buy 2 simple beds – hope against hope that they’re able to deliver by Monday;
  • Go home – very close to Ikea;
  • Go to lunch with my dad and my aunts near the beach – a bit away from home;
  • Get back on the road around 4 p.m. because it will take me more than an hour to reach the airport;
  • Wait for my mom to come out of the arrival area, carrying my precious 4 legged “nephew” (yes, I mean a dog!);
  • Think of something to do with the dog, because my mom needs to visit my grandmother in the hospital right away (possibly);
  • Get the dog to my mom’s house;
  • Go to my brother’s house to leave the dog and collect my sister;
  • Have dinner with my mom and sister;
  • Attend a concert.

Sunday:

  • I don’t know… I reckon I’ll be dead by then…
  • Christmas shopping;
  • Visit my grandmother in the hospital at my brother’s house;
  • Supermarket.

Monday – Wednesday:

  • Grandma will probably leave the hospital;
  • Christmas shopping… a lot of them… all of them…
  • Watch over my grandma
  • SLEEP!

As you can see I’m going to have a super fun week… yeah, I’m super happy about that! Hopefully my grandma will be ok when she leaves the hospital, and Christmas will go down without a hitch and everything will be super super marvelous! But somehow, I think it will be an exhausting week and I’m so not looking forward to that.

I’m Back and how I failed spectacularly at the Tackle my TBR Read-a-Thon!

tackletbr

Hello people, I’m back from Portugal. After a crazy crazy week at home, I finally arrived to Barcelona yesterday morning (and at my house roughly 2h30m later… I have public transportation sometimes).

It was a SUPER CRAZY WEEK!! I’ll resume it for you, just because… I got there Friday night…

» Saturday I had a full day celebration at a friend’s house, to celebrate her birthday and PhD. After a day of eating and playing games, I finally got home at around 1 a.m.

» Sunday my brother picked me up at 9.30 a.m to go to the supermarket, then we went to his new house, looked around a bit, he showed me his 65′ and 55′ new TVs and played some PES, and then we had family lunch at our grandmother’s. After that, me, him and his wife went to a shopping mall, where he then left us and we went to IKEA next. We left IKEA completely drained at 10 p.m. and went to have a soup at another shopping mall… isn’t it great that things are open until 11p.m.?! After I had a freakout moment because I saw Throne of Glass in Portuguese, I went home.

IMG_20150920_225031

– By now I’d been home for 2 whole days and had seen my dad a great amount of 1 hr on the day I arrived! –

» Monday I decided to sleep in a little… that was until my sister called me (and woke me up), to announce that she and her husband were arriving at Lisbon and if I wanted to have lunch with them. My answer was yes (because you never say no to dining out with your siblings, right?). SEAFOOD!!!! 😀 My bro and sis-in-law joined us as well, and then we (again) went to my brother’s new house. It was time to start washing the linens and stuff, and I spent the day assembling the kitchen diner table and the chairs… bless IKEA. On a bright note, I managed to get away and have diner with my dad 😉

» Tuesday I was able to stay at home a bit. I had to work on some stuff for my advisor, so that worked out well. And after 2 days of being stuck in the same page of Queen of Shadows, I was able to move up a few chapters (not many though). My BFF then went to get me and we made our usual route to some starbucks, a few shops, diner and a movie. 😀 (and then staying talking until past 2a.m. – I’m in serious need of some sleep).

» My plan for Wednesday was to relax all day and read, nothing more. I almost managed doing just that… But my sis called to let me know she would be picking me up soon… I said no, she said yes, she won! So, again, bro’s home – it’s a really nice house – we had a snack, we went to my grandmother’s, then to see a friend, then back to his house, we had diner at 11 p.m. and me and my sister-in-law’s sister stayed until 2a.m. playing Dance Central on the X-Box, while the men were upstairs with their PES.

» Thursday was a good day! I made progress on Queen of Shadows! I read and watched a bit of TV, relaxed, managed to actually read some blog posts that I had been accumulating, and then me and my BFF went to have coffee with a friend of ours that we hadn’t seen in awhile.

– Are you tired yet? –

» Friday I went (guess…), yeah, bro’s house. They went to deliver furniture, mainly the couch and dining table  – very important – then we had lunch, me and sis went to starbucks, pharmacy, grandmother’s house. Then we had a family diner. My nephew arrived from the south of Portugal. After diner we all went to my brother’s house. Me and my BFF finally left past 1a.m. and I was super tired by then.

» Saturday (it’s almost over), I had a lunch with my family from my dad’s side. It’s always great to see my aunts 😀 ! By late afternoon I went shopping with my nephew and that was awesome, I had missed the kid. Then it was time to pack and sleep, because having a plane to catch at 6.45 a.m. is no joke.

My Grandmother/aunt’s house is full of these little treasures… Damn it, I was so cute when I was little…

Now, for the actual #TackleTBR Warp-Up, I didn’t do any good in this Read-a-Thon… not good at all.

WHAT MY GOALS WERE:

  • Finish my September TBR, which means reading Queen of Shadows (doing a buddy read – check the GR group 😀 ), An Infinite Number Of Parallel Universes  and  Finding Perfect. (Because I’ll finish The Assassin’s Blade today)

  • Read at least 2 other ARCs – which ones will depend on my mood;
  • Participate in 5 challenges;
  • Find some new exciting blogs to follow.

WHAT I actually managed:

  • I read nothing more, unless you count some form of fanfiction which I’m now apparently addicted to.

challenge_seasons

  • I hardly had time to check on the blogs that I already follow, least of all find new ones… it was a busy week.

My Top 20 TV Couples: 5 to 1

Because today is Valentine’s Day, supposedly the Day of Love, here are my top 5 from my Top 20 TV Couples I’ve been doing for a few days. Top 20 from last year can be found here, Top 20 TV Couples 20-16, 15 to 11 and 10 to 6 here.

1_5

5. Mary & John Watson (Amanda Abbington & Martin Freeman) – Sherlock

Mary and John are the only couple to make into my Top 5 that have only been together for 1 season, in a show that has now only 3 seasons and 9 episodes. They’re that good! She has a shady future and he thrives on bad situations. They are unique and their love is awesome, why? Because you only forgive your wife from lying to you, shooting your best friend and choose not to learn about her past if you really love her. Mary’s love for John is also quite evident, as she clearly states that there was nothing she wouldn’t do to prevent him from finding out about her past and Sherlock’s shooting. I just love them. I know some people think she’s coming in between Sherlock and Watson, but I never saw them in that way, so I see her as an awesome addition to the party! It must also be noted that Amanda’s onscreen chemistry with her real-life partner, Martin Freeman, is amazing.

“The problems of your past are your business. The problems of your future are my privilege”

4. Piper & Leo (Holly Marie Combs & Brian Krause) – Charmed

After all these years, Piper and Leo are still in my Top 5 TV Couples! One of the best couples ever! It took them all show to finally be happy and live their lives as they wanted them, but they did it. They went through fighting the Elders, the Demons, the Avatars, and so many other things, but they managed to end up together, grow old together, in a house full of children and grandchildren. Good for them!

2x18-Piper-Leo

“Piper, through all the tears and struggles, I always knew in my heart that we’d make it here. I promise to love and respect you from this point forward as your husband, as my wife, my lover, my friend, and my soul mate. All I am is yours.”

“Leo, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. I was afraid that you were too good to be true, that maybe I didn’t deserve someone so pure and beautiful and loving as you are. But here we are surrounded by the people that I love the most and I feel so proud, and so blessed to be your wife. Leo, I was born to love you and I always will.”

3. Chloe & Oliver (Allison Mack & Justin Hartley) – Smallville

I have to admit that I haven’t started watching Arrow yet, because I don’t want to let go of this image of Ollie, and I don’t want to let go of Oliver with Chloe. I loved their story, it was unexpected, romantic and the poor guys suffered a big deal. But, because it’s fiction, they got over everything, got married, moved to Star City and even had a baby boy!

917Smallville0502

“Oliver… I never thought I’d have to tell you how I feel about us, because the smile on my lips when I looked at you… pretty much said it all. But now that you won’t be seeing it anymore, I’ll have to use words to tell you. I’ve never loved anyone the way I’ve loved you. And I never will again. You will always be my brightest star, my knight in shining leather, my hero.”

“It’s the best decision, I don’t remember making.”

2. Monica & Chandler (Courteney Cox & Matthew Perry) – Friends

They just lost nº 1 because of Pam and Jim, but they are still very much one of my  all time favorite couples. They are another couple that proves that friendship is the base of everything. Chandler is the only man on TV to have successfully escape the “Friend Zone” – note that Jim and Pam were never of the “Friend zone” because they always loved each other. They never broke up when things got hard; he faced his fear of commitment; they dealt with being in a secret relationship, coming out, finding out they weren’t able to conceive and went through an adoption process, … They’re the best!

monica_y_chandler_2856_635x

“My wife’s an incredible woman. She’s loving and devoted and caring. And don’t tell her I said this but the woman’s always right… I love my wife more than anything in this world. And I… It kills me that I can’t give her a baby… I really want a kid. And when that day finally comes, I’ll learn how to be a good dad. But my wife… she’s already there. She’s a mother… without a baby…”

1. Pam & Jim (Jenna Fischer & John Krasinski) – The Office

Have you ever seen The Office?! If you have, you understand: Pam and Jim are the best couple in TV… ever! Jim waited forever for her, while she’s was engaged to some other guy and he won her (in truth, she already loved him too, but was too scared to admit it). They eventually star dating, survive a long distance relationship, got engaged, got pregnant, got married and even managed to get through that terrible last season, where Jim’s job drove them apart. He gave up his dream job, because she was more important, and in the end, she gives up everything because he deserves it all! They are amazing and The Office is totally worth watching, even just for them.

And this is way they’re my number 1!!!

“Four years ago, I was just a guy who had a crush on a girl, who had a boyfriend. And I had to do the hardest thing that I’ve ever had to do, which was just to.. wait. Don’t get me wrong, I flirted with her. Pam, I can now admit in front of friends and family, that I do know how to make a photocopy. Didn’t need your help that many times. And, uh, do you remember how long it took you to teach me how to drive stick? I’ve been driving stick since high school, so… For a really long time that’s all I had. Little moments with a girl who saw me as a friend. And, a lot of people told me I was crazy to wait this long for a date with a girl I work with but I think, even then I knew that… I was waiting for my wife.”

Rachel and Ross: “We were on a break!”

One of the biggest form of conflict during Friends 10 years run was the “were they or weren’t they on a break?!

16.1

Ross was in love with Rachel for so many years until she finally saw him in the same way… they started dating in season 2, but season 3 came with problems for the couple: Rachel got a new job, and a new hot colleague, she stopped having time for Ross, which made him a bit nutty and extremely jealous. So on the night of their 1st anniversary, Rachel informs Ross that she’s working late (again) and in a desperate attempt to save the night, Ross shows up at the office with a picnic basket that leads to disaster, with Rachel asking him to leave. Back at home she wants him to apologize and he feels he shouldn’t, because he’s tired of having a relationship with her answering machine and never being able to see her…

So, tired of fighting, Rachel utters the words that change everything: “Maybe we should take a break.“. Ross responds lightly, not having understood the real meaning of the phrase: “You’re right. Let’s cool off, get some frozen yoghurt.“, but Rachel insists: “No, a break from us.“.

Ross’s heartbroken and goes to meet Joey and Chandler at a bar and after talking to the guys, he decides to call Rachel because he doesn’t want to break up, only to hear Mark, one of the reasons for they break, on the background (Mark was with Rachel at home). Mad and hurt, Ross hangs up and gets drunk, and ends up dancing with Chloe (the girl from the copy place) that makes a move at him and the two end up sleeping together…

Meanwhile, Rachel has realized she doesn’t want to take a break either and call Ross to make up.

The morning after, Ross, realizing what he’s done, wants to tell Rach the truth, but his friends advise otherwise, so he goes to all the people who know to make sure they don’t tell her, only to arrive too late, because Gunther already did.

So starts the fight that makes this one of the saddest episodes of the series, and that makes the path for many other fights of the “we were on a break” theme, ending with Rachel saying that “You’re a totally different person to me now. I used to think of you as somebody that would never, ever hurt me. Ever. God, and now I can’t stop picturing you with her. I can’t. It doesn’t matter what you say or what you do, Ross. It’s just changed everything. Forever.“. This is the official end…

friends_01

So here starts the real discussions everywhere:

Were they or were they not on a break?

And my answer is: YES! I truly believe they were on a break…

I’m not saying that what he did was right, but he was sad and vulnerable and super drunk. For all he knew they had break up, he called her and she was with another man. What would anyone think about that?!

Speaking of which… what was she doing inviting another man to her place? When Mark said he was coming over, her answer had to be a categorical NO. Instead she allowed him to come over and lets face it, all the talking he did while she was on the phone with Ross, was clearly to tick him off.

Rachel spends most of the next season defending her stand of how they weren’t broken up, but the fact is, in the beginning of The One With The Morning After, she clearly tells Monica that she and Ross broke up the night before. So later when she tells him that they weren’t broken up, they were just on a break, it really isn’t true, not even for her… So both of them had the notion, although extremely wrong, that a break equals a break up.

So I’m not saying she did not have the right to get upset and hurt and all of those things… she did! He hurt her. But should the break thing be such a big deal?! NO… they had the same definition of it… And lets face it, Ross suffered a lot since she got that job… he tried to tell her that it was just a job and not her life, he complained several times that they weren’t spending any time together, and she did nothing to change things…

To resume it: I attribute about 75% of what happened to Rachel and 25% to Ross, and in my humble opinion…

THEY WERE ON A BREAK!

My Top 15 Bromances

Romantic couples aren’t the only type of great TV relationships. Some of the most entertainment moments come from some great guy to guy friendships, also known as bromances.

bromances

1. Joey & Chandler (Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry) – Friends

My favorite bromance ever has to be Joey and Chandler’s from Friends! Man, they had some good times: lost Ben on the bus, bought a Foosball table together, shared a great love for leather chairs and Baywatch, raised a Duck and a Chick, had matching bracelets (crazy ugly ones), between other crazy and memorable adventures! They loved each other and weren’t afraid of showing it! Joey even protected his bro when he thought that Monica was having an affair. Chandler, on his hand, supported Joey for most of the show, paying for acting lessons, food, rent and basically everything else, and even got rid of the ladies Joey brought home in the morning, telling them that he wasn’t in the whole relationship thing and baking them pancakes! Could they be more funny?!

leblanc-perry-frie_1798741b

Joey: “We’re bracelet buddies!”
Chandler: “That’s what they’ll call us!”

2. Abed & Troy (Danny Pudi and Donald Glover) – Community

They have their own secret handshake, they moved in together (and occupied only one room, so they could have another room for The Dreamatorium), they had wars of pillows and blankets and they even have an imaginary morning show together! And now that Troy actually has a girlfriend (sort of), it has been said that she might not have that much room, because she’s competing with Troy’s other significant other: Abed!

HFISSS_Troy_and_Abed_doing_cosplay

Troy and Abed in the mor-ning!

3. JD & Turk (Zach Braff and Donald Faison) – Scrubs

Roommates in college and best friends forever! They were always there for each other, driving the women in their lives crazy sometimes. They had nicknames for each other (“Brown Bear” and “Vanilla Bear”), many inside jokes and they even performed a musical number dedicated to their bro love.

ZACH BRAFF, DONALD FAISON

Let’s face the facts about me and you, a love unspecified. Though I’m proud to call you chocolate bear, the crowd will
always talk and stare.
I feel exactly those feelings too, and that’s why I keep them inside, cause this bear can’t stand the world’s disdain, and
sometimes it’s easier to hide.
Then explain our guy love, that’s all it is, guy love, he’s mine I’m his. There’s nothing gay about it in our eyes.
You ask me ’bout this thing we share
And he tenderly replies…
It’s guy love
Between two guys
we’re closer than the average man and wife
That’s why our matching bracelets say Turk and J.D.
You know I’ll stick with you for the rest of my life
You’re the only man who’s ever been inside of me.
Whoa, Whoa, I just took out his appendix
There’s no need to clarify.
Oh No?
Just let it grow more and more each day. It’s like I married my best friend
But in a totally manly way.
Let’s go! It’s guy love, don’t compromise the feeling of some other guy holding up your heart into the sky
I’ll be there to care through all the lows
I’ll be there to share the highs. uh!
It’s guy love between two guys
And when I say, I love you Turk. It’s not what it implies.
It’s guy love between two guys

4. Sam & Dean (Jared Paladecki and Jensen Ackles) – Supernatural

These 2 are actually brothers, but they have the most awesome brotherly relationship TV has ever seen! They would die for each other, literally!!! And they have, both of them, more than once… They’re awesome!!!

Supernatural-6x17-1024x576

I’m a grunt Sam. You’re not. You’ve always been the brains of this operation. And you told me yourself that you see a way out. You see a light at the end of this ugly ass tunnel. I don’t. But I’ll tell you what I do know is that I’m going to die with a gun in my hand. Look that’s what I have waiting for me. That’s all I have waiting for me. I want you to get out. I want you to have a life. Become a Men of Letters, whatever. You with a wife and kids and…and…and grandkids, living until you’re fat and bald and chugging Viagra. That is my perfect ending and it’s the only on that I’m going to get. So I’m going to do these trials. I’m going to do them alone. End of story. You’re staying here. I’m going out there. If land shark comes knocking, you call me. If you try to follow me, I am going to put a bullet in your damn leg.

5. Dean & Castiel (Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins) – Supernatural

The sarcastic hunter and the naive angel, with very poor social skills, are a match made, well, in heaven! It’s probably the most entertaining bromance on TV, and most of the times they don’t even have to say a word!

supernatural-s05e03-hdtv-xvid-fqm-avi_000660868

My superiors have decided I’ve become too close to my charges and starting to show emotions, the doorway to doubt.

6. Chuck & Morgan (Zachary Levi and Joshua Gomez) – Chuck

Oh… I miss Chuck! Chuck and Morgan were best friends since childhood, grew up watching the same movies, playing the same video games  having the same interests and, even after Chuck went to college, they ended up working in the same place. They even got to live together for a while! Chuck suffered when he had to keep the fact the he had the intersect from his best buddy, but when Morgan found out, he joined the team ;-).

Chuck

Morgan is more than just my best friend. He’s my family. Before you got here, and long after you’ve gone, Morgan is my family.

7. Damon & Alaric (Ian Somerhalder & Matt Davis) – The Vampire Diaries

Alaric arrived on Mystic Falls hell bent on killing Damon, but it was Damon that got his way and killed the history teacher (luckily he was wearing the Gilbert ring and that was the first of many deaths to come). Then they started working together because they had to, and soon enough they were drinking buddies. And just like that, Damon was calling Ric his brother and Alaric was being mention as Damon’s best friend! But they are obvious downsides to being besties with a Vampire, you’re bound to end up dead… Ric died in Damon’s arms, in an heartbreaking scene when the snarkiest of all vampires in Mystic Falls realizes that he’s just lost his best friend and the woman he loves. (OMG, I miss Alaric and snarky Damon)

Alaric-Damon

You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle’s going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena’s not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you’re going to say: ‘It makes them feel better, Damon.’ So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I’m pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn’t get the girl, remember? I’m just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.

8. Andy & Bobby (Ian Gomez and Brian Van Holt) – Cougar Town

This bromance, at times, seems like a full blown romance! Andy even said that if his wife died, he would want to raise his son with Bobby!!! Andy’s love for his “man” is notorious, but Bobby has his moments too, such as giving Andy a sweater for Valentine’s Day!

BRIAN VAN HOLT, IAN GOMEZ

I feel like I’m cheating on Andy.

9. Ted & Marshall & Barney (Josh Radnor, Jason Segel and Neil Patrick Harris ) – How I Met Your Mother

Ted is best friends with Marshall since college, they were roommates, then they moved in together and everytime one needs the other, the other is there. But then along came Barney, and man, are they close or what?! Ted is Barney’s best bro!!!

Barney: Ted, can we be friends again?
Ted: Barney, come on, we’re… we’re more than friends. We’re brothers.
Barney: You’re my brother, Ted.
Ted: You’re my brother, Barney.
Barney: Did you hear that, Marshall? We’re brothers, now.
Ted: Marshall’s my brother, too.
Marshall: We’re all brothers.

10. House & Wilson (Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard) – House MD

Wilson put up with so many crap from is bestie… but still, he was always there for him…

Wilson: You can be a real jerk sometimes, you know that?
House: Yeah. And you’re the good guy.
Wilson: At least I try.
House: As long as you’re trying to be good, you can do whatever you want.
Wilson: And as long as you’re not trying, you can say whatever you want.
House: So between us, we can do anything. We can rule the world!

11. Ryan & Esposito (Seamus Dever and  Jon Huertas) – Castle

They’re are partners and best friends and yet, they’re as different as two people can be. But that doesn’t mean they don’t love each other…

n5lpoh-444159292158403290

Yeah, except we’re not a couple of top heavy co-eds out looking for fun. We’re highly trained officers of the law with enough fire power to take out a horde of undead.

12. Howard Wolowitz & Raj Koothrappali (Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar) – The Big Bang Theory

They are inseparable and, until the point that Howard actually found Bernadette, everyone kind of thought these two would end up together… because let’s face, Raj’s metro-sexuality is kind of gray…

Raj_Koothrappali_and_Howard_and_Guinness_Black

He doesn’t do anything for me. If I were going to go that way, I’m more of a Zac Efron kind of guy.

13. Peter & Neil  (Tim DeKay and Matt Bomer) – White Collar

Peter was the only man who could catch Neal… twice! They have their differences, but their relationship is important for both of them, so much so, that Neal hated lying to Peter when Elizabeth asked him to, and Peter hated being lied to… (Just a small mention to Mozzie, that is awesome and has a bit of bromance going on there too… with Neal obviously, but we can see something growing with Peter 2!)

(Matt Bomer is HOT!)

Because you are the only one who could change my mind.

14. Mark & Derek (Eric Dane and Patrick Dempsey) – Grey’s Anatomy

Their friendship survived Mark’s affair with Derek’s wife, Mark’s affair with little Grey, and many other complications. But they were friends and had great moments of pure bromance… and then Mark died!

He was like my brother. I have four sisters. Four very…annoying sisters. Mark was my brother, it’s hard.

15. Hiro & Ando (Masi Oka and James Kyson) – Heroes

Hiro told Ando he had the power to manipulate time and Ando believed him! That’s all that’s needed to say!

You look badass.

Friends: The one where everybody finds out

All seasons of Friends are great, but some are definitely better… My favorite season is without a doubt season 5, mainly because of the whole Monica/Chandler secret love affair thing. Through the first part of the season they’re in a secret relationship…

monica_chandler_big'

Joey is the first to find out after the couple go away together for the weekend, but promises to keep it a secret.

Then Rachel finds out in episode 11, ’cause she catches them on the phone planning to meet latter, but after hearing Monica and Chandler talk about how they are not ready yet to tell people, she pretends not to know anything.

But then comes the moment where “everybody” finds out! So Ross decides to move into naked guy’s apartment and when they’re checking out the place, Phoebe catches Monica and Chandler doing it…

Then instead of telling them that they know (much to Joey’s dismay), Phoebe and Rachel decide to have some fun with with! So when they say they’re doing laundry, the girls actually give them laundry (and quarters) to do… but the funniest thing is that Phoebe decides to throw herself at Chandler…

… it leads to Chandler finally admitting that he is in love with Monica (although he had said it before on the episode of Thanksgiving) and to her saying it back! Beautiful moment!!!

Later, at his new house, and with his boss at his site, Ross catches the 2nd part of the “act” by the window (by now they should know better…) and, with all his anger management problems, he doesn’t take it so well…

Amazing episode! Amazing season… and they are so cute together!!!
