Wandering About: Los Angeles (2006)

wandering about

WOW, look at that! 2006! The first time I was ever in the USA was almost 10 years ago… WOW! Time flies! OK, freak out moment over…

The first time my mom asked me if I wanted to go with her to the US, I jumped at the opportunity. It was a really rough time in my life, probably one of the toughest in my (then) 21 years of life, so I was super on board to just go and get out of my head for a bit. I was working at the time, but my boss was super nice about it and let me compensate my days with my due overtime, I did skip a few days of class, but at that point I didn’t really care. I was on my way to LA! (and Las Vegas and Palm Springs, but that’s for another day)

This was also when I discovered the Cheesecake Factory and all the goods that come with it :D.

And Hollywood!

And Universal Studios :D.

In general, I really liked LA, even if we caught a few terrible days of cold and rain – I hasn’t packed for that. Still, it was pretty freaking amazing. While my mom worked, me and her business partner wandered around Hollywood and took photos of around 100 stars and prints, lol. I even I had an unforgettable experience riding the buses in the city, under rain… never to be repeated again.

USA 2014: LA and the Central Coast (California)

Forty five minutes after boarding the plane from Las Vegas to LA, we were landing at LAX. With only 1 day and a half free to do stuff, we went almost straight to the Farmer’s Market, had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory and walked around a bit.

Diner was by Manhattan Beach, but it was a bit windy and not very nice outside… what a pity! The next day was Walk of Fame day… when you’re in LA for just a few days, you have to get to Hollywood, right?! And that was it… LA lasted really little time 😦 !

???????

Tuesday we started our drive through the coast in route to San Francisco. On the way there, my mom managed to be stopped by a Highway patrol, because she was speeding, she was driving at 78 MPH in a 55 zone!!!

The first day we stayed in a little hotel in San Simeon, called The Morgan, really really nice. In the morning we made our way to Hearst Castle, which is amazing, but we were unfortunate enough to catch the pool without any water.

A little ways down the road, at a rookery, we saw a bunch of Elephant Seals moulting (changing skin and hair) – live cam here.

Yesterday afternoon we visited Carmel by the Sea and then proceed to Monterey, where we stayed the night, so we could do the 17 Mile drive today, which is really pretty and totally worthy. A couple of hours later, here we are at San Francisco :).
