Boy Toy (Sarina Bowen & Tanya Eby)

A brand new romantic comedy from your favorite snort-laughing duo!

Liam
The moment Sadie Matthews walks through the daycare center door, I feel my world tilt in her direction. Again. I fell for her when I was fourteen, and I’m still not over her. Problem: she still thinks of me as a teen she used to babysit. But I’ve learned a few things about pleasing a woman in the last fifteen years. I can’t wait to show her how good it could be. I need to move quickly before I lose her again. This is more than a game to me, but I still plan to win.

Sadie
I’ve just survived the worst year of my life. As a single mom of twin toddlers, I don’t have time for a man. I barely have time to finish a thought. Who knew that Liam McAllister would grow up to be so devastating? He’s everything my husband was not: tall, built, and willing to have a tea party with my girls.

I can’t possibly get involved with him. He’s too young for me. Too handsome. But he’s so persuasive…

Definitely my favorite one of the series. Yes yes yes!

This duo won me over with their writing since the first book on this series, Man Hands, but it went even further with this 3rd book. This was hilarious and so much fun to read. I love a good single parent romance, especially when the children are so young. And a babysitter romance to boot? Also, the babysitter is younger, and it’s the hero?! HELL YES! I loved everything about it.

I already liked Sadie before, but she became something else on this book. She’s such a strong and amazing person. She deserves everything good in her life. And Liam. She deserves Liam, because he’s AMAZING. He was not only hot and funny, but he loved Sadie and the girls deeply and he fit with them.

Liam and Sadie (and Kate and Amy) were amazing and stinking cute as a family. I loved them together so much. I loved the romance, and how the two shared a history, I loved seeing their feelings develop and how greatly they matched.

I don’t even know what else to say about this book. I loved it. The humour is on point, and the romance is beyond sweet. It’s incredible. It can also be read as a standalone, so please please please, give it a read. You won’t be sorry.

Excerpt:

I messed up. Big time.

These are my thoughts as I rush into the bathroom for the world’s fastest shower. The hot spray of water judges me as I hastily wash Liam off my thighs.

A better mother wouldn’t let this happen. I shouldn’t have a younger lover. If I didn’t, he wouldn’t be so deliciously appealing. I couldn’t lose my mind, wake him up out of a sound sleep to ride him like a pony. And then collapse beside him in peaceful, sated slumber.

Seriously, how did I let that happen?

You know how, my hormones scold me. Because he’s the hottest thing you’ve ever tasted.

Oh yeah. That.

After showering I get dressed at top speed. Poor Liam is currently shouldering all my parental responsibilities. Throwing on yesterday’s sundress, I pause for a moment to pop a birth control pill, because that’s one thing I won’t goof up.

Then I hurry downstairs.

The sight in the kitchen gives me heart palpitations. But not because there’s flour dusting much of the countertop. Rather, it’s the hot, shirtless guy holding my toddler and making a dump truck sound as Amy tips the measuring spoon over a bowl.

“Yes! Well done, little miss,” he says, relieving her of the spoon. “Batter up!” he says, easing her to the floor and catching Kate, who’s trying to climb him like a tree.

Aren’t we all.

Liam easily rests Kate on one of his perfect arms, measures a half teaspoon of baking powder one-handed and then hands the spoon to Kate. “Beep beep beep,” he says, making the sound of a truck backing up. “Look out below!”

Kate dumps the spoonful into the bowl and giggles.

“Awesome. Who wants to add the milk?”

“My do it!” Amy yells.

Boy, I need another minute of alone time to compose myself. Because I love this picture a little too much. I love Liam’s ease with my girls. I love how calm he is at the center of toddler-induced mayhem.

It causes a little pain in my heart as I allow myself one more comparison to my former life. The truth is I never once saw Decker elbows-deep in kitchen chaos with a kid on one arm. Starting breakfast with twins in tow? He was more likely to captain a NASA expedition to Mars than he was to do this simple Saturday morning thing.

I feel like crying for no reason at all. Clearly I’m on some kind of emotional overload. Maybe coffee will help.

Sliding into the kitchen, I go right for the coffee grounds.

“Mama!” Amy says. “Wiam making pancakes.”

“That is amazing,” I say in a wobbly voice. “What a lucky girl you are.”

“Sorry about the mess,” he says, casting a glance in my direction. And I know he doesn’t just mean the flour on the counter, but the bigger mess of waking up naked in my bed.

“You know,” I say with a small sigh. “Messes shouldn’t scare me so much. It’s going to be fine.”

Liam’s smile is so filled with relief, that I now feel like an ogre. This man wants to make pancakes with us on Saturday morning, and I said no to that before? I’m clearly insane.

“Which frying pan should I use?” he asks, casting an eye on the cookware hanging from the rack over the sink.

“Oh, no. You want this.” I pull a double-burner griddle out of a lower cabinet.

“Oooh,” he says. “Mommy has the fancy pancake griddle.”

Kate giggles. She’s gazing at Liam as if he invented fun.

And in my life, I guess he did.

Here’s the tricky thing about being a shrink — sometimes you notice that you’re doing something that’s exactly contrary to the advice you’d give your patients.

I’m having one of those moments right now.

If I had a single mom in my office telling me there was a lovely guy in her life who was kind to her kids—and yet she was giving him the stiff arm? I’d tell her: “Be kind to yourself. Don’t push away the good people in your life, especially if you think you don’t deserve them. Let people surprise you.”

I’m such a hypocrite.

Also, I need caffeine.

Ten minutes later I’m sipping from a mug of coffee, but Liam’s is cooling on the countertop. The man has his hands full right now as he puts pancakes on the griddle with “help” from my daughters.

“How about a few of these?” he asks, holding up a bag of chocolate chips. Meanwhile, Kate waves the spatula around like a ninja. “A guy needs to make smiley faces in his pancakes sometimes.”

Good. Lord. It’s a miracle I’m not just a puddle of my former self right now. This is some serious mommy porn I’m watching. Shirtless guy feeds toddlers before eight a.m. I walk over to the high cabinet where I keep the ramekins. “We could make smiley faces with dried organic currants,” I say, just to be a pain in the ass.

Liam makes a face of disgust as I take the chocolate chips from his hand and pour some into a ramekin. “Joking! Here.”

He gives me a big, hot smile. Okay, it probably wasn’t meant to be hot, but I feel flutters down below.

“Choc-it!” Kate yells, grabbing for the ramekin.

“Easy,” Liam says with a laugh. “That’s for my artwork. Come here and I’ll show you.”

I set the table and pour the sippy cups of milk. And Liam manages to serve up two smiley pancakes — one for each girl — at exactly the same moment, in exactly the same size. This is a man who knows his way around toddlers.

“Not cut it!” Amy yells when I approach her plate with a knife. She picks up the pancake in two hands and takes a bite right out of the side of its face.

“Okay, right.” I back away. Forks are optional today, then. No big deal.

Liam takes advantage of this moment of quiet to quickly pour six more pancakes onto the griddle. He leans over his work, dotting them with chocolate chips.

I step closer to him and put a hand on his lower back. “Thank you,” I whisper.

“For trashing your kitchen?”

“No.” He glances at me and I give him a shy smile. “For being so amazing all the time.”

His eyes get very warm, and I just want to stay right here in that blue-eyed gaze as long as I can. “This might be a good time to confess that I didn’t make smiley faces on my own pancakes.”

“No?” I look down at the griddle. Side by side, two of them have a different design — little bullseyes in their centers. “Those are…?”

“Boobs,” he whispers. “My inner fourteen-year-old has a dirty mind. He can’t shut it off sometimes.”

“Drink your coffee,” I whisper, handing him the mug. “Sit down. Let me finish these for you. Or go put on a shirt because my inner fourteen-year-old has her tongue hanging out all the time, too.”

He gives me a wicked, wicked smile and then runs upstairs to find his shirt.

Owen’s never-ending divorce has taken a turn from messy to downright vindictive. Yearning for the simpler things in life, like working with his hands, he joins a Habitat build. Turns out he also wants to work over Ainsley Hall…but the confusing bombshell flirts blatantly with other men.

When Ainsley discovers Owen’s true sexuality, their mutual attraction ignites, but he hasn’t shared the extent of his divorce drama. If he can’t disprove his ex’s false allegations, it will take more than hammers and nails (and nailing studs) to keep their walls from caving in.

Excerpt:

The last person I wanted to see walked into the restaurant, and I tensed. Her frantic gaze was forced to me, and the only three vacant seats. She searched the room in vain, the rounding of her spine a clue she wasn’t thrilled about her options. She looked out the way she came, squeezed her eyes, then squared her shoulders and marched toward me.

Part of me—the lower half—wanted to pin her to the wall with my thighs while I hitched that proper little skirt higher. The other part hoped she’d wandered into the wrong place. Not because our night together had been bad, or the fact that she’d disappeared without a trace. No. The thing that had the tendons in my neck bunching was remembering how good it all was. Too good and too much fun, and I’d imagined rounds two and three and four ad nauseam. But rounds always ended in a knockout punch.

This girl was nothing but trouble.

She paused at the table, drew in a long breath, mumbled something as she exhaled, then glared at the seat beside me and the ones across. She chose beside, probably to face the room.

The only reason we’d hooked up two weeks ago was because there were no names and no strings. She’d admitted how hard it would be for her to relax, how awkward she’d feel afterward. The relaxing part I took care of with one brush of my lips. The awkward was still alive and kicking.

What went down between us couldn’t happen again. Distractions over the next two months weren’t an option, and repeat affairs led to feelings, and feelings led to promises, and promises were nothing but lies dressed up to seduce. Not an outcome I was keen to revisit. Still, I couldn’t ignore her anxiety, as long as she wasn’t here because of me.

I leaned toward her. “You’re the last person I expected to see.”

She squished her lithe body farther from mine. “Kind of coincidental, don’t you think? Did you follow me?”

“I got here before you. If anyone is stalking, it’s you tailing me.”

Indignation colored her cheeks. “I didn’t follow you. I saw a flyer and thought the contest looked interesting, but you obviously read it, too. If I’d known you’d be here”—aggravation laced her hushed tone—“I’d never have shown up.”

Her harsh words had me fisting my hands, or maybe it was how tempting the line of her neck looked, that column of tanned skin shifting as she swallowed. But she was right: having a diversion wouldn’t help my plan. “Then we’re on the same page.”

“Excuse me?”

“Since we’re both here for the contest, we can pretend that night never happened.”

Her face fell, but a beat later, she said, “Good,” nothing but ice in her voice.

I followed with “Great.”

She spat, “Fine.”

So much for stamping out the awkward.

Racer McKay is a broody bastard.

From the moment I met him, he’s been rude, irritable, and unbearable.

A contractor working to remodel my parents pool house for extra cash, he stomps around in those clunky construction boots with his tool belt wrapped around his narrow waist, and a chip on his shoulder.

Racer McKay is also infuriatingly . . . sexy as hell. I want to take that pencil tucked behind his ear, and draw lazy lines slowly up and down his body all the while wanting to strangle him at the same time.

We try to stay out of each other’s way . . . that is until I have no other option but to ask for his help.

But what I don’t realize is he needs me just as much as I need him. I have money he’s desperate for, and he holds the key to making my dreams come true.

Our pranks turn from sarcastic banter, to sexual tension and lust-filled glances. Bickering matches quickly morph into slow burn moments. We’re hot, we’re cold. We push and pull. I need him, I don’t want him. We’re on the verge of combusting with an agreement dangling dangerously between us. Neither one of us can afford to lose one another and yet, we’re finding it quite hard to decipher the line that rests between love and hate.

*Twisted Twosome is a stand alone romantic comedy.

When I found an eviction notice taped on my apartment door, I had two options: find a comfortable cardboard box to call home, or move in with Tucker Jameson.

Seeing that cardboard makes me feel itchy, I chose the latter. Which shouldn’t be that big of a deal since Tucker is one of my good friends. And because he’s still pining after his ex-girlfriend and I’m trying to finish my nursing degree, there is nothing to worry about in the romance department, making my last semester an easy one to conquer.

Boy, was I wrong.

Rules are set, dinners are made, conversations are had, and a shirtless, swoony roommate walks around in nothing but a pair of black briefs, ruining me for every other man.

Before I know it, I turn into a panting, lust-filled woman begging for Tucker to kiss me, touch me, and show me exactly what is hiding under those briefs.

But with great orgasms, comes great consequences.

Tucker might be my friend and roommate but he’s also my best friend’s ex-boyfriend, making him completely off-limits. At least that’s what my brain is telling me, my heart is speaking an entirely different language.

Slightly Stalky (Amy Vansant)

slightlystalky

Emily never expected to find love in a dart bar, but the moment she spots tall, sexy Sebastian, she’s determined to catch his eye.

Ex-girlfriends, perpetually shirtless rich boys, frantic best-friends and a mysterious orange handbag converge to stop her.

No one said stalking was easy, but if romance was left to the boys, the human race would die out while they logged fantasy football points and punched each other in the balls.

Everyone knows that.

Emily’s not stalking Sebastian…she’s saving the world.

As per usual, I read this book as a buddy read with  Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too, go to her blog in the next few days… her rant will probably be epic. Mine will be quite short.

Guys… it happened! My first 1 star read of the year. I’m not happy about this at all, but it happened, so it’s time to tell you why.

I read the first 20% of this book attentively, and my brain was reeling, because I just didn’t get it… but then I had to skim the rest of it, because I honestly couldn’t deal with it, which made me super sad.

I have to say that I didn’t find the writing funny or very sound to be honest. The bits that were supposed to be funny, just came across as really dumb, which in turn made me think that the characters were not the brightest bunch.

There is ZERO character development. We have a girl that meets a guy at a bar one day and decides that he’s the man of her life (why? no clue…). In the meantime, the guy doesn’t leave his girlfriend because he doesn’t like change (o_O). While they both sort that out, sort of, she dates another guy, that then is interested in her BFF (who has a boyfriend herself). Then Sebastian and Emily get together, and her solution to his living dilemma is to have him move in with her (so smart!!!)… did I mention they hardly knew each other?

It was honestly a very weird read. It was one of those books that you just go “WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST READ?” by the end…

I assume the humour works for a lot of people, because the book has amazing ratings. And sometimes, not everything makes sense in romantic comedies, but these kinds of nonsensical books don’t work for me at all.

Have you read this one? Anything you like to talk about?

Until I find myself stuck between a rock and a sexy roommate, which makes for one very hard…place.

I can resist Josie. I’m disciplined, I’m focused, and I keep my hands to myself, even in the mere five-hundred square feet we share. Until the one night she insists on sliding under the covers with me. It’ll help her sleep after what happened that day, she says.

Spoiler-neither one of us sleeps.

Did I mention she’s also one of my best friends? That she’s brilliant, beautiful and a total firecracker? Guess that makes her the full package too.

What’s a man stuck in a hard place to do?

OMFG! I just LOVE these stand-alones, male-only-POVs, books. I LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM! And I love the whole gang, each book is just as amazing as the previous one, if not more, and WOW.

So, once again, Lauren Blakely blew it out of the park with the writing, and here I think this is my favorite book of this “series”. We got a bit of the girl’s POV in Well Hung through Natalie’s texts, but here the book goes a step further, and we get a few glimpses into Josie’s mind through her amazing recipes. It’s honestly genius and it made me laugh, while at the same time thinking that I really wanted to try those things. The writing is fun, exciting, heartfelt, and just amazing and hilarious.

This book just combines all of my favorite romance tropes in one book! First of all, Josie and Chase are best friends, and they were so awesome BFFs, I just wanted them to have taste tests and talk about the most random things… AWESOME! Then there’s the fact that Josie is Nick and Wyatt Hammer’s sister, and Wyatt is Chase’s best friend too. So Josie is also Chase’s BFFs little sis! To top it off, Josie and Chase become roommates, which is also a trope I love.

Ok, let’s talk characters. I want a Dr. Chase for myself, because seriously, that dude is amazing. He’s smart, sexy and funny. He’s super caring, he listens to audiobooks while walking around, and he bikes everywhere. Also, he’s a freaking E.R. DOCTOR! Then there’s Josie, who is strong and determined and witty and fun, and who is a BAKER, and she makes the most amazing-sounding things… I just wanted to eat whatever she was talking about. I loved them both, I thought they were awesome as friends, and even better as a couple, they complemented each other amazingly well.

The plot was also very well done, it was entertaining, fun and a bit heartbreaking, because they were fighting so hard to preserve their friendship above all else…

One thing that really made this book even more special for me was seeing all the gang together, and seeing how deep those relationships go. I also really appreciated the lack of unnecessary drama… such a refreshing thing!

full-package-rdl-teaser-5

This book was just perfect for me, Chase and Josie’s relationship was amazing, and I thought that the tropes were amazingly done and in the end, the book left me craving for more. So, if you’re looking for a super fun romance, with a great story and a super fast read, pick up Full Package!

EXCERPT:

I point to the curved wooden stand with a hook at the top. “This. Explain this.”

Josie sets her hands on her hips. “It’s a banana holder.”

I give her a stern look. “I can read. I don’t need to know what. I need to know why.” I poke the object on the shelf at Bed Bath & Beyond, otherwise known as the Nexus of Unnecessary Things. Pretty sure there’s some kind of vortex or force field right smack dab in the middle of this store attracting all the weird, bizarre, and odd home goods. “Why can’t they sit on the kitchen counter? Or, how about in a bowl?”

“Maybe the bananas just like to dangle?” she suggests. “Hang free and all?”

Smacking my forehead, I go along with it. “Aha. That makes perfect sense.”

“I’m here to help.” She tugs on my shirtsleeve. “But can we please get to the sheet aisle? You can’t sleep on a naked mattress.”

“That may be true, but I could definitely sleep naked on a mattress,” I offer, and she laughs as we navigate through another sardine-packed aisle in the mammoth store.

It’s one in the afternoon, and I just moved in this morning. That took all of two hours. Spending my twenties in med school and as a resident gave me very little time for the acquisition of things, so most of my possessions fit in a duffel bag. I have very little. Not even sheets for a queen-size bed. Ergo, I’m spending Saturday at Bed Bath & Beyond, which is a bit like wandering through a Buzzfeed post titled “Ten Things I’ll Never Use.”

More like five hundred. Wait. Make that five hundred and one, because I just spotted the new number one item on the list.

“That,” I say as I make a beeline for a shelf of crème brûlée torches. Grabbing a silvery one, I hold it up. “Please say we can have a housewarming party, and you’ll make crème brûlée, and I can stride all proud and awesome into the kitchen,” I say, puffing out my chest and deepening my voice. “And I can light it with a torch, and we’ll all ooh and ahh at the manly fire I made when I lit up a dessert.”

She arches an eyebrow. “A manly fire?”

I nod vigorously. “And then you’ll let the guests take turns punching me in the face for being a total douche for owning a crème brûlée torch.”

She narrows her eyes. “You actually want people to punch you?”

I’m deadly serious as I answer her. “If I ever own a crème brûlée torch, you have carte blanche to punch me, Josie. You really should.” I drop the torch on the shelf and take her hand, clasping it tightly in mine. “Promise me. From this day forward. Promise you’ll punch me if I ever own a crème brûlée torch, a rotating tie rack, or more than one kind of cheese grater. This is part of our roommate pact.”

She grips my hand tighter, her green eyes glowing with stark seriousness. “I solemnly swear to pummel you under all the aforementioned circumstances. As proof of our friendship and roommate solidarity.”

“You’re a saint,” I say, then wrap a hand around her head and tug her close for a quick kiss on her forehead.

And hello, sweet, sexy scent of Josie. What is this delicious smell? Is it . . . oh fuck me. Cherries. My God, she smells like cherries. Like the perfect summer fruit. Like the naughtiest fruit. And I’ve got to wonder if that cherry scent is her face lotion, her shampoo, or her body wash?

                Body wash.

My mind is adrift, and the word association begins. Because what goes with body wash but nudity?

Naked woman in the shower. Washing. Lathering. Soaping.

                Ah, hell.

Snap the fuck out it, Summers.

Review:

beingbrooke

From New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, comes a brand new standalone novel. BEING BROOKE is a laugh-out-loud, witty, sexy, and sometimes highly inappropriate romantic comedy about being in love with your best friend. And how much that freaking sucks.

My name is Brooke Barker…
And I’m a freaking disaster.
No, seriously. I’m a college drop-out working a dead-end job, my best friend Carly’s dog gets more action than I do, and I have more bad dates in my diary than there are movie remakes.
Not to mention I’m completely and utterly in love with Cain Elliott.
The problem? He’s in a relationship. With a girl who’s so plastic she makes Barbie cry herself to sleep with jealousy.
The second problem? He’s my best friend.
My shut-up-and-put-on-Harry-Potter, yes-this-is-your-shirt, help-I-have-no-power, crap-I’m-out-of-tampons, kinda best friend.
And that’s all he can be, right?
Right.

I read this book as a buddy read with  Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too, so go here to read her review of this book.

First of all guys, this book was hilarious! I laughed so much while reading it. Heck, I was snorting, in public… it wasn’t pretty. 😀

The writing is brilliant! And that’s what made this book so great, because the main character’s voice was amazingly funny. This was my first book by Emma Hart, so I have no clue if she always writes in this funny way, but I was sold. This was just perfect.

Brooke is such a disaster, and I loved her to bits. I loved that she didn’t like people, and could burn pasta, and that she hated unpacking. I loved that she felt real. And her relationship with Carly and Cain? PERFECT! They were such a unique and fun group of friends. I could have read more of their shenanigans together.

The romance was sweet and I really liked the relationship between Cain and Brooke and how it developed, though for a moment I wanted to slap Brooke a bit, eheh. Still, this was very much based on years of a very strong friendship, in which they knew each other completely, and I’m a sucker for that.

Overall, this was an amazing, hilarious read, with a sweet romance and a very unique main character, with a very unique way of narrating the story. I can only recommend it, because I absolutely loved it. Go read it!

About the Author:

By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies — usually wine — and writes books. Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto- your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love. She likes to be busy — unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.

The Two-Night One-Night Stand (Ryan Ringbloom)

the2night1nightstand

A girl. A guy. And a talking peen.

Holly Martin isn’t the type to have a one-night stand. But a crushing break up, a sexy blind date, and a few shots of Fireball is about to change all that.

Matthew Daniels is an introverted PA who claims he’s too busy to date. But that doesn’t stop his older brothers from encouraging him to let loose and get out there, because as they put it – the right girl won’t just walk up to you.

But what if she does?

Is it possible for a one-night stand that happens twice, to actually become more? Could two nights of reckless debauchery actually lead to true love? Or is this just another case of a whisky induced disaster?

This Romantic Comedy is sure to have you laughing, cringing, rolling your eyes, shouting at the pages and looking for a shot glass of your own.

**This book contains mature content (and immature content). It is intended for adult readers.

Once again, I read this book as a buddy read with  Cátia @The Girl Who Read Too Much, though I have to admit that I was done before she even started it… oops! Check out her blog in the next few days to read her review of this book.

I had so much fun reading this Romantic Comedy! It was just hilarious and just the kind of mindless and fun read that I needed. The writing is light, fun, and it flows super well. This is a super fast paced book, with great comedic timing.

The characters are really enjoyable, I especially liked Matthew, because he’s such a step away from most of the heroes in romance books. Matthew is so shy and adorkable, and he’s so adorable. Holly lost me a bit with her “Two-Night One-Night Stand” stuff, but her rants were so funny!

The whole plot was hilarious and great, and although the characters are not very fleshed out, they are still sort of perfect for the type of story this is.

It’s the perfect book for a well spent afternoon. It’s fun and hilarious, and it will make you smile and feel oh so good… especially Matthew’s conversations with his Peen… Yeah, you read right! So read it. Have fun 😀 !!!
