Arrow, Flash and Supernatural Sneak Peak

The CW has been releasing some sneak peaks for the upcoming season, so I give the Arrow, The Flash and Supernatural trailers for season 2, 4 and 11 respectively.

First Arrow, it’s been out for a while, so there’s not much to say, right? This season already looks a bit lighter and I like that. I especially like to see Thea a bit on the cray-cray side, Nyssa fighting Malcom, Nyssa (just Nyssa, I like her – is it too wrong to ship her with Laurel?!), everyone keeping busy while Oliver is away, … And Felicity and Curtis Holt! How cute 😀

The Flash is going to be insane! Parallel worlds?! WOW!!! I can’t wait for it! 😀 😀 😀 And Lisa is back, and I wish she doesn’t leave… I like Cisco around her 😉 .

Supernatural looks creepier than usual, and scarier… what the hell is going on with people? Why are Sam’s eyes pried open like that? Why is Crowley dressed as a priest? Why is Castiel beating him up? I need some answers!

This Week on TV (23-29 Mar)

Scorpion: Young Hearts Spark Fire

While trying to rescue a group of hikers from a mountain, team Scorpion’s helicopter crashes, eventually causing a wildfire. While Sylvester stays behind with the pilot, the rest of the team goes and tries to find the hikers.

My favorite bits of this episode involved Toby. First, Toby diagram with the explanation on why he knows that Walter is in love Paige, to which Walter denies (though not very convincingly). Then there’s all those wonderful interactions between Toby and Happy… after their kiss last week, he’s acting all protective of her (though she thinks it’s annoying) and ends up telling her that he’s in love with her. I was so glad that she did not run!!!!

   

The Flash: Rogue Time

After the all the distress that was last week, when Barry finds himself on the day before, he decides to change a few things up and arrest the Weather Wizard before he’s able to do any real damage. Dr. Wells warns him of the consequences, but really how could this day be any worse than the previous one?!

Well, Captain Cold and Heat Wave return (with Cold’s sister), they kidnap Cisco and his brother and force him to disclose the Flash’s true identity. Meanwhile Barry, so sure now of Iris feelings, decides to make a HUGE move on her, only to be punched by Eddie – sorry dude, but you totally deserved that!

In the end Barry has a talk with Cold, where he considers that he doesn’t have to kill people to get what he wants and then he decides to relocate… all very civil! I get why they did this, they’re clearly paving the way for the new show, but although I can comprehend that Cold doesn’t really have to hurt people, he really likes to be in control, I don’t see Heatwave playing by the same rules… so it will be definitely fun to watch how that plays out.

There was a nice parallel between Cisco and Well’s talk this week and the last. In both Well’s told Cisco that he saw him as a son and was proud of him, but this week he did not kill him!!! Hurray for that! He does kill someone though, Iris’s boss, which leads Barry to suspect that something is up with Wells. Well done Barry, it only took you 16 episodes!!!!

By the way, the time in which Cisco can build 3 extremely different guns out of someone’s house – not a lab – is amazing… more over if you consider that one of those guns fires gold (?!).

   

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Love in the Time of Hydra

Remember when we were all worrying about Mac when he was stuck in the city?! Oh, well, not I’m wishing he had died right away, maybe that way we could have kept Tripp. The “Real SHIELD” unveiled itself this week to Hunter, they say that stand for truth and honesty and transparency, Coulson, like Fury, keeps way too many secrets and that’s not how SHIELD should run.

Hunter (luckily) is having none of it – I always liked Hunter, but now I love him, and I can’t believe how Mac and Morse are acting… though I still have a slight hope that Morse is indeed a double agent and that she will side with Coulson in the end. Hunter managed to escape this new SHIELD, though he’s unable to contact Coulson.

After May and Coulson talk, he decides to bring Skye to a secure and secret location, where she can be safe and work on her powers… she feels like she’s in prison, but really, amazing timing. Simmons delivers Coulson a new pair of gloves for Skye, that will minimize the effects of her powers, but she’s feeling conflicted about it. Fitz, for his hand, thinks that there’s nothing wrong with Skye, or him for that matter, the real one on the wrong there is Simmons, she has given up to her fears and insecurities and is too much changed. He’s so on the nose with this one, Simmons IS changed for the worst and her new behavior unfortunately falls right in line with the new SHIELD.

The Ward and Agent 33 storyline was just plain weird… I liked that it involved Talbot, but that was it… I found it utterly dispensable.

    

Arrow: Suicidal Tendencies

Now I’m officially not getting Felicity, I mean, she’s right with all that “I want someone who’s not afraid to be happy”, but after Ray doubted her in that way, I was a little disappointed that she did not give him any crap – she has no trouble doing so with Oliver, so why was she so ready to be all lovey dovey with Ray?!

They better start fixing it!

I get that Captain Lance is hurt with his daughter and everything, he has the right to be, but he’s going a bit off the rails…

And Maseo?! WTF?! Now you’re imitating the Arrow too?! I’m so disappointed, I like(d) him so much.

I will miss Deadshot!

Diggle and Lila’s wedding was wonderful, but I wish we could have seen a bit more of it… maybe Oliver’s best man speech?! Felicity catching the bouquet and glancing at Ollie?!

   

Law & Order: SVU: Parole Violations

This week the episode dealt with the abuse and power that Parole Officers have upon the parolees, it finally introduced some background and family for Carisi and dealt with the fact that men can be raped by women.

I don’t think they had ever gone there in 17 years, and I’m so glad they finally did. Rape in itself is a taboo, but somehow, when it’s the fact that men can in fact be raped by women, there’s more than a taboo, there’s a huge disbelief. Not so long ago I was having a talk with my mother (highly intelligent and liberal woman) and we were talking about rape and for some reason I brought up this particular subject (men being raped by women) and she (intelligent, worldly woman) said that she did not think it was possible for such a thing to happen… So I’m glad that they finally took on a case that not only shows that it happens, it can happen, and unfortunately how unlikely it is to be acknowledge.

   

Supernatural: Paint it Black

How can they still put a new spin on old ghost stories still amazes me. Dean, confession, church and nuns?! Funny as usual.

   

Criminal Minds: Rock Creek Park

The case this week was a bit f* up, even though it wasn’t at all creepy or weird or deadly. But the fact that those 2 people had such a twisted view of things… wow…

But there’s only one thing that matters in this episode (besides the fact that Kate is already showing), was that little bit in the end… REID GOT A DATE!!!! I’m so happy for him!!!

This week on TV (7-13Dec)

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The show continues funny as ever (despite not being worthy of a Golden Globe, apparently), but that last scene, when Rosa is all smiles, just warms my heart.

Jane the Virgin: Wow, the show got me a little scared for a moment there. Stuff was being revealed, sparks were flying all over, and now Rafael knows Jane is a virgin and Jane knows that Rafael was willing to lose everything for her… wow… and then some more sparks literally flew. Rogelio is the funniest character on the show, he just cracks me up.

The Big Bang Theory: What a sweet and funny Christmas episode.  I love how they keep advancing Sheldon and Amy’s relationship with baby steps and very naturally.

Selfie: Wow, what a great episode this was. Karen Gillian and John Cho really gave their all in this episode. I do hope that through some sort of Christmas miracle, the show is picked up for some network… seriously, it’s the best new sitcom of the year (for me), how could they have cancelled is beyond me. Eliza’s karaoke and drunken state broke my heart.

Scorpion: Am I the only one who thinks that Sylvester and Megan are going to have a thing?! Either way, I ship it! What I don’t ship is Walter with anyone who isn’t Paige… when Agent Simone Taylor goes in for the kiss, I literally covered my eyes… no, no and no!

Supernatural: Wow, this mid-season finale has everyone! Castiel tries to help his vessel daughter (who is great by the way and I hope appears more often), he enlists the help of the brothers. It’s great that we had a Destiel moment, we hadn’t had one of those in a while, where Dean tells Cas that he’s not ok, and if things turn bad, he wants him to kill him (even if Sam tries to stop him, which he will). Things don’t end well though, with Dean killing a bunch of guys to feed the Mark and Sammy desperately pleading with his brother… sad… Meanwhile, in hell, the King a.k.a. Crowley, a.k.a. Fergus, has a bonding moment with his mommy, a.k.a. the superwitch Rowena… this will be fun!

Forever: We finally found the identity of the mysterious caller, after he turned Henry’s life into a living hell. I thought for sure that he would tell Jo about his condition… oh well…

Criminal Minds: What a twisted, sick episode… It seriously gets to me that after 10 years they can still tell these creepy stories. It was a great episode, I’m sad that Aaron and Beth broke up, but it was predictable given that she hasn’t been around and it was lovely to see Rossi worried about his friends and making him go out and meet new people.

Supernatural: Happy 200th episode!

Happy and brilliant! Big congratulations to everybody on the Supernatural team, not only for 200 very enjoyable and amazing episodes, for a magnificent cast and for being, perhaps, the show that gives more back to the fans, like ever!

Supernatural celebrated its 200th episode with Fan Fiction, and never a title was so well put. More than a nod to the fans, the show went a step too far a did an episode for them, about them, still managing to get back to the core of the show: the brothers. The episode was about their connection, their history, the good and the bad, and the road so far. It was also about the fans, the fanfiction, the dashes, the ships, the subtext and the innuendos. It was about saying that no matter in which way you love the show, the important thing is that you love it and respect all views and opinions. It was about saying that even it it isn’t canon, it’s ok.

I have to be honest, I do not read fan fiction. I’m aware of what’s out there, it’s just not my cup of tea. Still, Supernatural managed more than a fan service episode, they made an ode to their fans.

Just a few notes:

• Really talented cast. All the girls kicked some serious ass, whether literally or in singing form, specially Katie Sarife and Joy Regullano.

• Sam is a real fan boy, right?

• All the title cards, like ever!!!

• “Why are they standing so close together?” “Reasons,” “They do know they’re brothers, right?” “Well, duh. But, subtext.”

• Destiel? Deestiel? Sastiel? Samstiel?! CasDean?! A nod to all the pairings and all…

• There goes the fourth wall… well done Jensen!!! =D

• “Jerk” “Bitch” =D =D

• Sam (s) quite literally saves the day… all three of them 😉

• “BM scene” – “bowel movement?”… no Dean (and then Sam), it’s Boy melodrama!!!

• “Supernatural has everything. Life, death. Resurrection, redemption. But above all, family. It isn’t some meandering piece of genre drek. It’s epic.”

• Carry On Wayward Son… I was in tears by now 😀 :D… so beautiful, I have to get me that soundtrack!

• Who’s that?!

  

• Welcome home Chuck! God’s not dead after all… 😀

 

Supernatural: “Do You Believe in Miracles?”

I finally watched the Supernatural season finale, Do You Believe in Miracles? and wow! The main outline of the episode is that Team Free Will wins, but at what cost?!

Metatron’s new plan is to have humanity, a.k.a., he wants to be it’s new God, and things go quite well for him, until Dean gets there. Dean gets punched around and stabbed my Metatron (which Sam witnesses), Gadreel sacrifices himself to let Castiel out of Heaven jail, so he can destroy the Angel Tablet and in the end Castiel locks Metaton in jail – and doesn’t kill the son of a bitch!

Dean and Crowley

Arguably, this season’s bromance has been the one between Dean and Crowley, way more than the “normal” one between Dean and Castiel. So, when the eldest Winchester gets himself locked up in the bunker, he summons his new BFF to get him out. Crowley by now knows that something is wrong with Dean… come on, first the guy doesn’t order anything to eat, and then he leaves his cheeseburger untouched… weird, right?!

Dean: What the hell is happening to me, you son of a bitch?
Crowley: Liquor before beer, bad taco, how should I know? It’s the Mark. It wants you to kill. The more you kill, the better you feel. The less you kill, the less better you feel.
Dean: How much less better?
Crowley: One would imagine the least best better.

 

There are good guys, there are bad guys, and then there’s this jerk!

Metatron! For God sake, the guy is a lunatic. In his pursuit of his new “God” status, he’s willing to let people kill for him, he even provided the weapon… crazy!

Metatron: Quick. Which makes me look more pathetic?
Neil: Why do you want to look pathetic? You just reunited all the angels under the banner of heaven. I mean, that’s like…
Metatron: Winning a People’s Choice Award? Not quite the real deal, now is it?

Castiel and Gadreel

The two angels find a way to get into heaven, only to be locked up as soon as they walk in. Without any other hope, Castiel tries to convince Hannah that he wasn’t responsible for the Angel’s suicides, that Metatron was in fact behind the, but she’s not buying it. So Gadreel does the only thing he can to prove that he cares more about humanity than his own suffering… he sacrifices himself to let Cas break out. At this, Hannah decides that Castiel was telling the truth, and helps him break into Metatron’s office, where he finds the Angel Tablet and destroys it. Without the Tablet’s juice, Metatron goes to Heaven convinced that he’s gonna entrap Cas, but he’s too smart for that and broadcasts Metatron’s evil speech for the whole garrison to hear. Castiel, however, proves that he doesn’t want any other Angel to die, and decides not to kill Metatron, but lock him up in jail instead.

Gadreel: So you said you had a plan of how we might convince them to let us pass.
Cas: Wookiee.
Gadreel: Brother I have  no idea what that means.
Cas: It’s a reference to a very popular film that…never mind.

 

Dean and Sam

It took Sam a while to accept that his brother was their best chance to defeat Metatron, but he did it.

Sorry I’m a little less than eager to hear that our best chance is arming the warhead and hoping it hits the mark. This is not a bomb we’re talking about, this is my brother.

So, he decides that they will do it together. Dean has other plans though, and leaves his little brother unconscious while he goes to fight the big bad Angel. This doesn’t go well for him… he should at least have listened to the whole plan… so when he gets there, Metatron is still powered by the tablet and Dean has no chance in heaven or hell to defeat him. He takes a pretty bad beating, which culminates with him being stabbed by Metatron, while Sam watches in bewilderment. Metatron gets lost (to deal with the fact that Castiel broke the tablet) and Dean is left to die. Sam tries to get his brother to safety, even though Dean wants him safe and that maybe it’s better this way… the mark as turning him into someone he didn’t want to be… But Sammy is having none of that.

Dean: What happened to you being okay with this?
Sam: I lied.
Dean: Ain’t that a bitch?

They don’t get very far away though, Dean can’t take it no more and stops his brother to say…

I got to say something to you. I’m proud of us.

… and then he dies in his brother’s arms… yep, he dies. And, OMG, I cried my eyes out because watching Sam (Jared Padalecki) cry over the body of his bro was just to much pain. Sam takes Dean home, cleans him up, and puts him in his bed, while he goes to do what Winchester’s do best: drink and bargain. He tries to summon Crowley but to little success.

Damn it, Crowley. You got him into this mess. You will get him out…or so help me, God

Dean and Crowley, pt2

Crowley does not respond to Sam’s summoning, because he’s already there…

Your brother, bless his soul is summoning me as I speak. Make a deal. Bring you back. It’s exactly what I was talking about wasn’t it? It’s all become so… expected. You have to believe me, when I suggested you take on the Mark of Cain I didn’t know this was going to happen. Not really. I mean I might not have told you the entire truth. But I never lied, I never lied Dean. That’s important. It’s fundamental. But, there is one story about Cain that I might have forgotten to tell you. Apparently he too was willing to accept death rather than becoming the killer the Mark wanted him to be. So he took his own life with the Blade. He died. Except as rumor has it, the Mark never quite let go. You can understand why I never spoke of this. Why set hearts aflutter with mere speculation? It wasn’t until you summoned me, no it wasn’t truly till you left the cheeseburger uneaten… and I began to let myself believe, maybe miracles do come true. Listen to me Dean Winchester, what you’re feeling right now is not death, it’s life. A new kind of life. Open your eyes Dean. See what I see. Feel what I feel. Let’s go take a howl at that moon.

Can’t wait for season 10!

I just watched Blade Runners (S09E16) and I’m at a lost as what my favorite bit was…

Supernatural: Torn and Frayed

This past week Supernatural episode (810) had the boys finally making some decisions and it was just about time!

 

We get a lot of guest stars this week: Misha Collins as Castiel, Mark Sheppard as Crowley, Osric Chau as Kevin, Ty Olsson as Benny, Liane Balaban as Amelia, Amanda Tapping as Naomi and Tyler Johnston returns as the angel Samandriel.

So, Samandriel was captured by Crowley who wants to know about the Demon tablet and is able to get a message to Naomi though the “angel radio”. Naomi then summons Castiel and sends him to rescue Samandriel, but of course, it is “his idea”…

Meanwhile, Sam is still in Texas (after his encounter with Amelia in the last episode) and Dean goes to him, however Sam is still pretty mad with his brother (and lets face it… he has good reasons for it) and Dean leaves alone.

Back at Bobby’s cabin, Castiel asks Dean for his help to get Samandriel and in the absence of Sam, they go to the next best thing… Garth! Who isn’t there, but Kevin is (and he ditched his mom because she distracted him), super occupied trying to translate half a tablet. Kevin gives Castiel the list of ingredients for the demon bomb and there he goes…

Benny calls Dean, obviously in need of a friend, but Dean can’t at the moment, but he promises that as soon as he wraps up he’s meeting up with him.

In the meantime in Texas, Amelia shows up at the motel where Sam is and end up sleeping together. After, they agree that in 2 days if they both are there they stay together, but if he goes, he doesn’t come back…

On his way home, Castiel, with all the demon bomb’s ingredients, he stops at Texas (right on the bench were Sam is) and asks for his help… (Dean isn’t really happy about this…)

They all go to the factory where Samandriel is being held and the brothers go up ahead to deactivate the angel blocking things (Castiel gives Sam his angel blade that, now we know, can also kill demons). After a few fights (and Dean saving Sam’s life), they deactivate all the symbols and Castiel is able to enter the factory but is extremely week due to all the writings on the walls (and he stars to get some kind of flashbacks of Naomi messing with his brain)…

So to open the door Dean thinks it a good idea to bump into it… and Sam follows… LOL! They finally get inside, but not before Crowley is able to extract vital information from the angel, about the angel tablet! Crowley disapears, the brothers get the other demon and Castiel takes Samandriel out. By the car, Samandriel says he can’t go back to heaven, because he said to much, he also says that Naomi is controlling them (in this moment Castiel is pushed back to Naomi’s office, who tells him that he has to kill Samandriel, he’s a liability, she also gives him the script to tell the brothers…). And so Castiel does! He kills Samandriel and Sam and Dean get outside just in time to hear the explanation (he was compromised)…

Right after Castiel’s eye bleed and he explains that his vessel must have gotten damaged inside. After he leaves with Samandriel’s body (to return him to the heavens – Naomi wants to know exactly what Cowley got out of him), Dean reinforces to Sam that something isn’t quite right with Cas.

Back at Bobby’s, Dean calls Benny (who is feeding from a human blood bag – and only has one left, so we are left to imagine that things aren’t going to go well) and tells him that he ain’t gonna meet him, this is the end of the line for him (basically he’s choosing his brother). Benny gets it, even though he’s clearly sad about it…

Sam chooses his brother too and does not meet up with Amelia in Texas (although we see that Amelia clearly choose him in spite of her husband). And the episode closes with the 2 brothers eating dinner in front of the TV, and it was about time!

Notes:

1. I’m gonna miss Benny, although I don’t think his storyline is over just yet!

2. Great to see Kevin, even better because he’s totally neurotic =)

3. I really hope they closed the door on the Amelia thing for good! I love Sam and I enjoy nothing more than to see him happy… and it would be great to see him in a happy relationship. This wasn’t it! They didn’t click! There was nothing good there… just the dog!

4. Always good to see Crowley… shame he didn’t interact with the guys…

5. When will Cas realize what he’s been doing?! I don’t like to see him get used like that…

6. I totally get why everyone still calls Samandriel “Alfie”… it’s hard to write (and say)!

7. Although not a very fun episode, it finally closed a door… the brothers are in it together again and they are all in…

Supernatural: Charlie is back!

Have you seen Supernatural S07E20 (The Girl with the Dungeons and Dragons Tattoo)?! That introduces Felicia Day as Charlie Bradbury, a Hermione obsessed hacker that works for Dick and ends up helping the boys on their quest, and in the process receives a lesson from Dean of how to flirt with guys…

Oh well… She’s back! She will appear on the episode LARP and the Real Girl (S08E11), airing 26 January. It promises to be a great episode =)
