Top Ten Tuesday: TV Shows I Binged and Love!

Hello, welcome back to another Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s theme is:

In honor of Fall Tv, do a tv-themed topic! Top ten favorite tv shows of all time, ten new shows coming out this Fall that are on my radar, tv shows I wish never got cancelled, tv shows I would recommend to book characters, books I wish would be tv shows, ten favorite shows from the late 90’s or early 2000’s, ten tv shows for every fantasy lover, etc.

I’m doing 10 TV shows that I totally binged-watched and fell in love with, and which I love until this day.

Musical Connections #1

Lately I’ve been neglecting everything on my blog apart from books. While TV Shows will certainly be back in force at the end of next month, I’ve been toying about the idea of how sometimes you make a musical association in your head, and then you simply can’t listen to that particular music without thinking of that other thing, whether it was a moment in your life, a game played, a video watched, show, movie, whatever something that was not the music original design.

Today, for my first time doing this, I bring to you “The Big Bang” by Rock Mafia, which is one of my all time favorite songs and honestly I think it’s because of the connection I always make with it. I love this music. I love it so much that it has been my ringtone for the last 5 years… yep, 5 years with the same ringtone!

So, what do I connects with this music you might be asking by now. I’ll tell you! Lois & Clark,  from Smallville. And that’s because of this fanmade video I found on YouTube a few years ago. It just brings all the feelings and the music is so well coordinated with the images, that I couldn’t help but to fall in love with it. So each time my phone rings, I think of Lois and Clark! By the way, Erica Durance and Tom Welling will forever be my perfect Lois and Clark.

And the official music video for The Big Bang stars Miley Cyrus and Kevin Zegers (also known as Alec Lightwood from the City of Bones movie).

So each of the music videos do you prefer? I honestly will go for my Smallville pairing every single time 🙂 ! Does dis happen to you a lot? Associating a music with something that will always pop on your mind as soon as the music starts playing?

The Flash: “the fastest man alive” has arrived

It’s here! The Flash has arrived! =D

The first episode was great. It introduced the characters quite nicely, gave a bit of Barry’s backstory and set the premise of the show. It has a lighter tone than Arrow, but it still has plenty of darkness and angst – along with a lot of humor and cool effects.

Grant Gustin is the perfect Barry Allen, and OMG, the mask makes him look like a totally different person – unlike every superhero ever in the history of superhero’s tv shows and movies.

Just some thoughts:

• I’m super curious about who murdered Barry’s mom and how he got out of the house. The moment he sees a figure in the middle of the vortex speed it almost looks like him, I mean, the suit is pretty similar. But the yellow, apparently, is the colour of the Reverse-Flash, his nemesis… so we had yellow and red in that “vortex”, could it be that inside was not only the Reverse, but also the Flash… we know there’s some time-travelling capability there…

• Not a fan of Iris West (Candice Patton) yet, though I have to admit that I like her slightly better than Laurel from Arrow… but hey… that’s not that hard!

• Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh)?! Come on… that it genius! Giving us that tremendous WTF moment that will probably take a whole lot of time to be resolved?! Genius I say!

• Casting John Wesley Shipp as Henry Allen has to be one of the coolest things on superheroes’ shows since Smallville casted almost every single person related to the Superman movies and Lois and Clark: the new adventures of Superman series…

• Oliver Queen inspired Barry to be more than he is, and even though the rooftop scene can feel forced or whatever, the “cool!” moment that each of the has is not, and goddammit… it’s COOL!

• The writers and producers are hell bent in building an entire DC universe and that is great. Almost every single character has a story of their own and are destined either to become heroes or not so much. But from the name of coffe shops, to slight adaptations of names (Eddie Thawne anyone?!), to that future newspaper who besides having The Flash well represented, also mentions Oliver Queen and Bruce Wayne, they are thinking big. This is great! I’m not the biggest DC comics fan, but damn it if I didn’t love it when Smallville builded a team of their own!

My Top 10 TV Male/Female Friendships: 10 to 6

TV shows are much more than romances and bromances. Sometimes, a show creates a really cool relationship between a guy and a girl that doesn’t turn romantic. Yes, science somehow tells us that that’s not possible, but I don’t buy it! Here is my numbers 10 to 6 of these special friendships.

10. Dean & Charlie (Jensen Ackles & Felicia Day) – Supernatural

Charlie is the sister that Dean never had, and even though she was only in 4 episodes, Dean is really protective of her and she gets him to open up like no one else. Jensen and Felicia just have this great weird chemistry between them…

    

9. Max & Andy (Kat Dennings & Ryan Hansen) – 2 Broke Girls

Andy was in a relationship with Caroline, but he had way more in common with her best friend Max. When the two of them got together, it was fun all around. Too bad that he didn’t stick around for long… maybe this was the problem: he had more chemistry with Max than with his girlfriend.

     

8. Zoe & Mal (Gina Torres & Nathan Fillion) – Firefly

Two army buddies with such different personalities, she’s all tough and he is all ironic and sarcastic. But sure it’s fun to watch! Through all this, and against Wash’s believes, they never so much thought of nothing romantic with one another… talk about friendship!

    

7. Sheldon & Penny (Jim Parsons & Kaley Cuoco) – The Big Bang Theory

These two are funny and sweet… for a guy as annoying as Sheldon, it’s good fortune that his neighbor has such a great amount of patience… Those knocks alone are enough to drive people mad! And she even sings Soft Kitty to him!

   

6. Chloe & Clark (Allison Mack & Tom Welling) – Smallville

Through the course of 10 years, Chloe was Clark’s BFF. She managed to get over her romantic feelings for the guy, learned his secret and even became his sidekick. It was the biggest relationship in Smallville, it certainly was the longest…

My Top 20 TV Couples: 5 to 1

Because today is Valentine’s Day, supposedly the Day of Love, here are my top 5 from my Top 20 TV Couples I’ve been doing for a few days. Top 20 from last year can be found here, Top 20 TV Couples 20-16, 15 to 11 and 10 to 6 here.

   

5. Mary & John Watson (Amanda Abbington & Martin Freeman) – Sherlock

Mary and John are the only couple to make into my Top 5 that have only been together for 1 season, in a show that has now only 3 seasons and 9 episodes. They’re that good! She has a shady future and he thrives on bad situations. They are unique and their love is awesome, why? Because you only forgive your wife from lying to you, shooting your best friend and choose not to learn about her past if you really love her. Mary’s love for John is also quite evident, as she clearly states that there was nothing she wouldn’t do to prevent him from finding out about her past and Sherlock’s shooting. I just love them. I know some people think she’s coming in between Sherlock and Watson, but I never saw them in that way, so I see her as an awesome addition to the party! It must also be noted that Amanda’s onscreen chemistry with her real-life partner, Martin Freeman, is amazing.

4. Piper & Leo (Holly Marie Combs & Brian Krause) – Charmed

After all these years, Piper and Leo are still in my Top 5 TV Couples! One of the best couples ever! It took them all show to finally be happy and live their lives as they wanted them, but they did it. They went through fighting the Elders, the Demons, the Avatars, and so many other things, but they managed to end up together, grow old together, in a house full of children and grandchildren. Good for them!

3. Chloe & Oliver (Allison Mack & Justin Hartley) – Smallville

I have to admit that I haven’t started watching Arrow yet, because I don’t want to let go of this image of Ollie, and I don’t want to let go of Oliver with Chloe. I loved their story, it was unexpected, romantic and the poor guys suffered a big deal. But, because it’s fiction, they got over everything, got married, moved to Star City and even had a baby boy!

“Oliver… I never thought I’d have to tell you how I feel about us, because the smile on my lips when I looked at you… pretty much said it all. But now that you won’t be seeing it anymore, I’ll have to use words to tell you. I’ve never loved anyone the way I’ve loved you. And I never will again. 2. Monica & Chandler (Courteney Cox & Matthew Perry) – Friends

They just lost nº 1 because of Pam and Jim, but they are still very much one of my  all time favorite couples. They are another couple that proves that friendship is the base of everything. Chandler is the only man on TV to have successfully escape the “Friend Zone” – note that Jim and Pam were never of the “Friend zone” because they always loved each other. They never broke up when things got hard; he faced his fear of commitment; they dealt with being in a secret relationship, coming out, finding out they weren’t able to conceive and went through an adoption process, … They’re the best!

“My wife’s an incredible woman. She’s loving and devoted and caring. And don’t tell her I said this but the woman’s always right… I love my wife more than anything in this world. And I… It kills me that I can’t give her a baby… I really want a kid. And when that day finally comes, I’ll learn how to be a good dad. But my wife… she’s already there. She’s a mother… without a baby…”

   

1. Pam & Jim (Jenna Fischer & John Krasinski) – The Office

Have you ever seen The Office?! If you have, you understand: Pam and Jim are the best couple in TV… ever! Jim waited forever for her, while she’s was engaged to some other guy and he won her (in truth, she already loved him too, but was too scared to admit it). They eventually star dating, survive a long distance relationship, got engaged, got pregnant, got married and even managed to get through that terrible last season, where Jim’s job drove them apart. He gave up his dream job, because she was more important, and in the end, she gives up everything because he deserves it all! They are amazing and The Office is totally worth watching, even just for them.

Small things, like the way they smiled at each other, the way she used to put her head on his shoulders…

… that epic proposal in the rain,…

Their reaction to finding out that Pam was pregnant, how much they knew each other,…

… and then there’s this…

… and this (and I could be here posting pictures of them all day, but I wont).

And this is way they’re my number 1!!!

My Top 20 TV Couples: 10 to 6

After last year’s Top 20 TV Couples, this year I’m making it a countdown. Numbers 20 to 16, and 15 to 11 are already posted, so here are the numbers 10 to 6…

10. River Song & the Doctor (Alex Kingston & Matt Smith) – Doctor Who

While he’s not my favorite Doctor, she’s my favorite “wife” and probably my favorite companion as well (at least for Matt’s Doctor, because she as a tough competition in Donna). For a highly asexual character, the Doctor sure gets his way with the ladies, going as far as to actually marry River Song. The amazing thing about them is not even what they do as husband and wife, mainly because they hardly see each other, but the great and unique chemistry that Alex Kingston has with her onscreen (and a lot younger) husband, Matt Smith. This makes them my favorite couple in Doctor Who!

9. Sheldon Cooper & Amy Farrah Fowler (Jim Parsons & Mayim Bialik) – The Big Bang Theory

Well, well, well… What a Valentine’s Day episode that was! What a kiss, Doctor Sheldon Cooper! Ok, this is a very different kind of couple, mainly because they have been together for 3 years and shared a great amount of 3 hugs, 3 kisses (but only one real), 1 spanking session and 1 virtual “Dungeons and Dragons” sexy time. Still, we know that Amy deserves a lot more (poor girl), and I do think that Sheldon will step up, in his own quirky way.

8. Robin & Barney (Cobie Smulders & Neil Patrick Harris) – How I Met Your Mother

This season of HIMYM has been mainly about them, oh, and the Mother off course! It’s their wedding weekend, and so far so good. We do know they get married, we already saw some images of after the wedding (Robin dancing with her father), and I’m hoping that it’s a happy marriage. Barney has proved so far that he’s ready for this big step, that he loves her more than anything, he turned from womanizer to a hopeless romantic… so cute to see!

7. Lois & Clark (Erica Durance & Tom Welling) – Smallville

I appreciate these 2 even more since I saw the Man of Steel… I do not like that Lois Lane! Maybe because I like this one so much… yes, Erica Durance was everything I expect to see in Lois Lane: seriously bad-ass, sassy, smart, fearless, supporting, etc… and she’s all of this because of her man, her Clark! And I think Smallville nailed this. Not only was their chemistry off the charts, but they really made each other better. Lois and Clark (this L&C) are by bar my favorite coupling in any Superman story.

 “I wanted these vows to be perfect, but perfection’s a hard thing to get your hands on. But life is meant to be a little messy. And when it comes to love, it’s like my dad always said when it comes to the army. This, so far, has been a tough season for the Eriksen clan. But the important thing is that they love each other and they will make it thru… And they’re staying in NYC!

CW: the network of the hottest guys!

Every tv show has at least 1 good looking guy, but not the CW shows… no, those ones are made of hot, very hot, men. It’s official: the CW is the network of the hottest guys!

SMALLVILLE

I know it’s not technically on CW (right now), but it was, for many many years, and many men below (Ian, Paul, Jansen) stared in it, at some point or the other.

Tom Welling (Clark Kent)

(He has the record for the longest time playing Clark Kent. Was the star of a show that stayed 10 years on TV, which is not an easy thing to do! I miss him on my tv screen…)

Justin Hartley (Oliver Queen)

(He’s now on Emily Owens MD, but the show was already cancelled. I liked his Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, he was so funny, loved to lose his shirt and damn hot. Not to mention he slept with almost every woman on the main cast, apart from Lana Lang…)

SUPERNATURAL

It’s the show with the smallest permanent cast (just 2 people) and yet has 2 very hot brothers and a smoking hot angel in a trench coat.
