After my previous (and disappointing) read, I was in need of some fun, quick and light New Adult Romance, so when I got approved for this ARC – not part of my official TBR – I decided that it was just perfect for what I needed.
I really liked the premise of this novel, the fact that these two people knew each other for years, made the plot a lot better. We don’t have any kind of insta-love here, oh no, this is a relationship three years in the making. Tara and Hector are best friends, they talk daily, they work together, they have both seen each other at their worst – through a webcam – and they even watch tv shows live with each other – internet is a blessing, right? I absolutely loved that the one completely smitten was Hector, the guys was so in love with her that he hadn’t had a relationship in a long time…
The writing flowed effortlessly, so much so, that I started this book at 10pm and when I got to bed I had 65% of the book read, and the rest was done by the time my lunch break finished on the next day.
I loved that this was based on San Diego Comic Con, though I could have used some more Comic Con related stuff.
The plot was cute, albeit a bit predictable, but I really liked how it turned out. I really liked Tara and Hector together, though I just wanted to throw their heads together and force them to talk (really talk) to each other, because Hector was convinced that he wasn’t good enough for her and that she was still in love with her ex, and that the best thing he could do was keep her away, so he would say the dumbest things… *facepalm!*. And Tara had a couple of stupid moments herself, when she went along with the “just sex” program, when she clearly wanted more.
Being a new adult book, it contains a few (like 4…) sexy and a bit explicit scenes. They are pretty hot and, being comic con and all, they may or may not involve some costumes… 😏
All and all, it was pretty enjoyable, and now I’m curious to read the rest of this series, because I really liked the band. I want a group of friends like them, who play silly games in the supermarket, sleep outside Hall H, and dress up for comic con. 😍
